Reception Question

1
Hello to all

I'm hoping someone can clear up my confusion regarding this. I have read two different variations :???:

One variation is: With the querent's significator in quesited's triplicity, the QUESITED has feelings for querent.

Second variation is: With querent's significator in quesited's triplicity, the QUERENT has feelings for the quesited.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone would please tell me which is the correct interpretation.

Thanks ever so much :)
MarG

Reception works like this:

If in a relationship question L1 is in L7's sign, exaltation, or triplicity, term, face, L7 is well disposed toward L1. Why? because L1 is like a guest in L7's home and we are inclined to treat our guests well.

If, on the other hand, L7 is in L1's sign, exaltation, or triplicity, term, face, L1 is well disposed toward L7, for the same reasons.

Helo, I'm a newby both here on the forum and in Horary astrology but in love with both :brows so I hope I'll find at least some of the answers to the questions that are still confusing me thanks to all of you.
Reception and dignities have been confusing me for a while but then, when I finally thought I understand i ended up in a new puzzle. Didn't want to open a new topic since this one is open for the same kind of question and I'll ask here hoping someone with morre experience will be able to clear out some of these things for me. I've only just recently started casting horary charts and I've only got a few. It's the same thing that happens to be tricky for me in all of them but, since for the reception and "planets loving each other", relationship charts seem to be a lot easier than other question-charts (at least in the early phase of studying), I'll give you one of them as an example of what is confusing me.

(the link to the chart is in the bottom od this posting)

Now, I casted the chart to answer my own question (too soon to practice on others, wouldn't want to make anyone miserable because I'm just a newby in this field 8) ) and the question was formulated this way- "Will the two of us end up together?". Now, it's not as if I can't find that answer without horary :lala but the fact that I'm familiar with the situation (or at least thought so) made me surprised. That is the very point where I don't know any more if it's the horary or the reality that I don't understand.

Now,

1. in the chart both L1 and L7 are positioned in the 7th house, L7 applying to a conjuction with L1 (only one degree orb)! That should be a good sign, right? But, it is also the turned 1st hose- does it mean that the Quesited is selforientaded (and enjoying the Querent's attention?).

2. Moon, Venus and L1 are all in the 7th house - that should be the sign of Querent's strong whish to be with the Quesitated, am i right?

but

3. Venus and Moon are in a sign of a fall of L7 which should mean that he doesn't really share the interest to be in a relationship with the Querent. Having only Sun as his significator (the cusp of 7th is in Leo so, the Sun is all we've got to reveal his feelings) and that Sun being positioned in Virgo which shows no interest in either Moon, Venus or Saturn, and is in the fall of Venus- is this the point where we can conclude that he- the Quesited- is "out of this picture"? That very position of the L7 receives Venus in triplicity, face and term so, I guess, that should be another prove that the Querent is strongly interested in him at the moment the question was asked. (someone will tell if I'm right, hopefully). But that is exactly where the big puzzle begins for me - L1 is only 1 degree away from that position which means that it also receives Venus in three dignities. And is in it's fall. Thought, Saturn (L1) doesn't feel any better than the Sun in Virgo.

4. And the puzzle goes on- Querent, has got so many strong argument proving she is interested in the Questited (all three significators in his 1st), but her L1 is receiving dignities from Venus (her significator), and the other two significators, Moon and Venus are in the sign of the exaltation of Saturn (her L1) and receiving dignities from that very Saturn and Venus (her significators)? What on Earth is going on here???
Could this mean that both of them are actually only interested in themselves (Quesited with his Significator in his-turned- 1st and her - Querent-receiving dignities from her own significators also) yet her being a bit more interested in him? Is that the bottom line of this story? Or is it something else? Of course, there's this Mercury that both L1 and L7 are "in love with", can0t figure that out either! Her 4th and his 10th turned (work colegue- whose?)

5. and finally, since the Moon should tell how the story ends, it is on the doorway of the Burned way but its last aspect will be applying trigon with the Asc- should that be taken into consideration? Jupiter is the collector of light between the moon and L1/L7 conjuction and is forming a trine with that conjuctuion too. So, could it be that something is really going to happen here (L1 and L7 applying to a conjuction, translation of light, Moon 120 Asc...) but hardly a romantical realtionship? (Cadent house, mutual sign, 1 degree orb- a month, a week...? ) Or am I on a completely wrong way here? It's just that there are so many contraversal signs here and I making all the effort to clear the confusion out but I just need someone more experienced to give me a hint or two.

Ok, sory for being so anoying :-sk , I hope someone will find the time to help with at least some of those questions, I would really love to see where I'm making mistakes and what I'm missing or interpreting wrong in horary charts!

Finally, this is the chart I was looking at when asking questions-

http://www.astro.com/cgi/chart.cgi?cid= ... dd=14&ast=

5
and another question- do we always look only for the rulers of the cusp of the house? Or do the rulers of the second part of the house or interceptive house also tell their part of the story and can we consider them as significators of someone/something the house represents too?

Tara,
In the example that MarG gives I am afraid we are not talking about reception but disposition. The planets do not mutually receive each other, but the one planet is located in the essential dignities of the other. The question is which of the two get turned on and is most amicable. Lilly would say that if L7 is in the the sign of L1 and in the first house, then it is the quesitive that loves the strongest and will come to the querent. However, if L1 is in the sign of L7 and in the 7th house, then it is the querent that loves the more.

Now if there was an applying aspect between two planets, i.e. one planet applying to the other, the perfection of this aspect is secured by the 2nd planet receiving the 1st planet in one of the 1st planets essential dignities. So the planet that is in the essential dignities of another is more agreeable and it is disposed to appreciate the even slightest intention of it's dispositor.

To try and make this point more clear, the fortunes are trouble and weighed down when the infortunes travel through their signs. To try and explain: The dispositor of the south node is misfortuned, but the south node (or preferably another planet) is appreciative of the patronage of it's dispositor. Another example: I am visiting China. Whether my host appreciates having a English/Norwegian around the house I am not sure, but I am sure appreciative when someone who can speak Chinese turns up and I'll probably throw my arms around him/her... :???:

If one planet is placed in the triplicity of another, the second planet and receiving/disposing planet receives the admiration of the first, because the dispositor appears to hold a strategic position in that circle of friends. The dispositor has the resources, the planet visiting the sign admires the dispositor for those reasons.

Hi Andrew, please would you mind giving an example of the way you'd analyse it in, say, a relationship question? If the signifcators were say Venus in Pisces and Mars in Libra, then I'd think Venus felt comfortable with Mars (in Mars's triplicity) and Mars liked Venus an awful lot (ruled by Venus). I'm influenced by Frawley.

Thanks.

What if L1 is in L7 exaltation (Mars in Libra, Venus in Libra) and L7 is apply to L1? Especially when this is a question about how someone feels? It looks to me like L1 likes L7 more (as a friend since they are both in the 11th house) but L7 has interest too since he is moving toward L1 and perfection before a sign change.

I should throw in that mercury is ruling the 11th house and sitting between the two significators, but most communication is done through letters and a secretary.

Hi Aglaya, I'm sorry to have to say this but you've managed to make an utter mess of a relatively simple chart :lala Don't worry, it's something quite "normal" for newbies. You seem to know much but lack the necessary experience to know what comes first. You're Saturn placed in the 7th - which only shows that you're interested in a relationship. The Sun (Lord 7) is conjunct but separating from Saturn which suggests that he is moving away from you - so the answer is NO. The Moon confirms this by being void of course - nothing will happen here, the answer has no future, you two will not have a relationship. You don't ned to involve other planets, nor reception, when a chart gives such a clear view and an answer. Hope this helps :D

Thanx so much for your answer, Ema! :lala

and Ok, so, now, IF the aspect between the L1 and L7 were applying- what would be more important, the Moon VOC or the fact that the Lords were in a applying conjuction? My question is actually- does the "relationship" between the Lords give us the answer first?

Theoretically, yes. If the main significators show a strong union ie. are applying to each other, the answer can be yes in spite of the VOC Moon, BUT here is where the lesser ie. less important indications must be checked, like are the significators in strong and fortunate houses, is there a reception between them etc... There're all sorts of possible combinations which reflect all sorts of complicated situations. If, for example, significators would apply to each other from unfortunate houses or if they were debilitated, the situation could resolve in such a way that the tow parties came together but would soon regret it... And the VOC Moon could, in such a case, show that the situation will not proceed as planned... There're no 100% rules in horary, you see... Every chart is different from the rest, especially in the view of different backgrounds ie situations the charts cover, so we must employ common sense... And experience. BTW how are you two getting on, anything evolving between you two or do things look like I suggested they would?
