Rosicrucian astrology talks much of the spirit world and would look at the 12th and in your case, the 4th since you are thinking your house is haunted.
There is no need to try to fit interpretations about bewitchment for such a matter and no need to veer off into "sick houses" and such theories.

You've got Neptune, ruler of the spirit realm, right there in your 4th house, fixed and retrograde in Aquarius and trine the 12th cusp!

What more signs do you need?

I agree that I need no more signs to indicate that indeed there is some supernatural energy in the house, which is scary enough since we are living there. Question is, what is it going to do to us? I don't like that Moon conjuncting me, and then my children, and then my husband...hence reference to the Moon, ruler of the 6th from the 4rth. Moon represents flow of events. So what's this Moon doing? And the trine of Jupiter (ruler of my 8th) to Saturn doesn't look that great either.

15
Hey Taurus:

What's the moon doing you ask?

Moon was last over Saturn, ruler of the 4th and at the same time, moved into its trine to jupiter, ruler of your 2nd money. This shows the purchase of the house.... Then the very next aspect is the moon's opposition to the ruler of the weird and unexpected Uranus, ruler of the home 4th in mutual reception with Neptune of the spirit realm and mysticism.

Your ruler is conjunct the ruler of your 8th house of FEAR. Its in an air sign (nothing there to fear). There is nothing in the 12th to show sinister or evil forces or enemies. The events are scary but nothing will come of your fear.

As for what moon to Jupiter means, you may have bitten off more than you counted on as far as finances go and money spent or needed to be spent in future on this house for unexpectedly needed repairs.

The moon has taken on the nature of Saturn, being the last conjunction and is therefore giving you doom and gloom ideas about everything here. But its last aspect to Neptune is a trine.

I don't see anything worth worrying about here. If it is really worrying you, have the house exercised. But I don't see anything sinister here. Just needless fear coming from Mercury in air sign working overtime. I do think there is something there, but its not evil.

RC,
Thanks for your analysis. Things have settled in a bit, after numerous methods employed requesting the spirits to leave. I haven't heard or seen anything wierd lately. I'm just trying to fix the house up a bit so I can put it up for sale. Now, will I be able to sell it or not - that would be the subject of another horary.
However, I just wanted to point out that your analysis of the Moon doesn't really apply to me, since my husband did the chart, not me. I'm the 7th, not the 1st. Yes, my ruler is conjunct the ruler of the radical 8th, but that's his 8th, not mine, and actually, he's not much scared by all of this.

Hi:

Glad to hear it. We had to have our house exercised many years ago. Our guests have been grabbed, held down, shaken and other stories. But that's another story...

Re: the moon, it doesn't matter that its your husband's chart. It last passed over Saturn, and is carrying the nature of Saturn over to you, Venus first. It then passes to Mercury & your husband - all of the next 3 planets in its path of conjunctions which is all of you - so its affecting you all in some way. But after the moon hits you, Venus, it takes on the nature of Venus as it passes on. And near the last of the aspects are good aspects to North Node & Neptune in 4th, showing a positive ending to the matter.

It appears that you were the strongest of the bunch to take some action in helping matters as your ruler disposes all the others and the moon.

Re: "Is this house haunted"? Terrified...

This is an old chart but still one that interested me enough to include it in my work on 4th house matters for a horary diploma course. My former tutor was preemptively skeptical about its legitimacy on the grounds that charts found online are “notoriously corrupt”. I don't think it helps be so prim. A chart should be allowed to speak for itself, while we judge it on the merits. Of course, we have to keep in mind the traditional considerations, as well as some other preliminaries, among which I would include “standing” to pose the query, which we do have here, since the querent (the poster’s husband) is involved in the matter. That being said, I was surprised by ultimately getting a “yes” answer to the query, given the usual reality of situations like these.

Here follows my complete analysis:

Is this house haunted?

1 September 2008

Kinnelon, NJ USA

Ascendant: 08 Scorpio 34
Day of: Moon Hour of: Sun
Moon: 02 Libra 02
Moon from: v.o.c. > Libra
 Moon to: conj. Venus

Considerations before Judgment: Ascendant ruler Mars and hour ruler Sun are of the same humoral nature (hot/dry), so there is agreement. There are no active considerations. The chart is radical.

Significators
Querent: (a) Ascendant at 08 Scorpio 34; (b) Mars at 08 Libra 28 in the 11th house
Wife: (a) Descendant at 08 Taurus 34; (b) Venus at 02 Libra 29 in the 11th house
House: (a) 4th house at 16 Aquarius 35; (b) Saturn at 11 Virgo 36 in the 10th house

Discussion
The querent’s worries over his wife’s fears about the house is described by his significator Mars, received by Venus/7-ruler into her domicile, which is of course the place of his detriment. By contrast, Venus/7-ruler is strong in Libra. She says several times how scared and out of sorts she is. However, her significator’s strength argues that, whatever her feelings, the house is hers (note that the poster says “I bought a house”, not “my husband and I bought a house”), and she is in a solid position. This is a good thing for her to know in dealing with this feeling of spiritual negativity. She is better off than she realizes. We should also consider that their significators are in the 11th house, the House of the Good Spirit, a favorable and encouraging testimony.

The Moon (02 Libra 02) and Mercury (04 Libra 42) are also in the 11th house closely involved with the significators of the querent and his wife, and both add to chart descriptiveness. The Moon’s partile conjunction with Venus is obviously meaning. As the Moon rules the 9th house (sacred things), I take the Moon to signify her mother’s copy of the Holy Quran that she has kept close to her throughout the ordeal. If it is proven that the woman’s experiences are genuinely paranormal, the Moon—as natural ruler of mothers—might even symbolize the nearness of her mother’s protective influence, as indicated by the medium. Indeed, the querent closely links the Quran with her mother’s benevolent presence.

The querent mentions her children, so it could be make sense to take Mercury—natural ruler of the young—for their significator, showing them correctly near mom and dad. But we also see that Mercury rules the 8th house while sending a partile trine to the 8th cusp: a communicator representing the dead—that is, the spiritualist medium. This seems a more vigorous testimony with greater relevance to the question. Mercury is rich in fortitudes (attracting a score of +22) and in a powerful mutual reception (Exalt.-Ruler, Exalt.-Exalt.) with Saturn/4-ruler. Perhaps the medium really did bring through good information about the house.

The home is signified by the 4th house and Saturn in the 11th, fitting for an old house (75 years). The North Node is conjunct the IC, a positive testimony to there being good in or about the house. Here, I am adapting what Lilly says about the North Node in the 4th house being a sign that “there’s then a probability of Treasure being there” (CA p. 216). This must be reconciled, on the other hand, with Saturn’s applying combustion with the Sun/Lord 10. Without talking it over with the querent, it is difficult to know exactly what this means. It might show some kind of damage to the house, which would bear upon the subsidiary issue of resale. More likely, I think, is that it represents something about the house that is hidden or unseen. We'll have more to say about this combustion in a moment.

Saturn receives Venus and Mars into its exaltation. The wife feels that this “tremendous reception” ominously shows the house “RECEIVING us with open arms, it wants us there”, alluding to the seeming spell the house cast over her when she bought it. In fact, the reception greatly mitigates whatever trouble Saturn might want to cause, and this is backed up by mixed and mutual receptions between Venus and Saturn. It is true that Venus takes Saturn into her fall. But Saturn is the house, not the haunting, so this negative reception (so to speak) more arguably describes her general dislike of the house or her discomfort in it and not something specifically otherworldly about it.

Is the place haunted? To decide this, I suggest we think of a haunting as a form of “bewitchment” and to judge it as a 12th house concern. We must keep in mind that the house, not the querent, is the focus, and so it will be necessary to work via derivations from the 4th.

In Chapter 92 of Christian Astrology, Lilly gives a number of testimonies to bewitchment. Here are the ones that are reflected in this chart:

(1) “It’s a received, general rule amongst those Artists who know the Cabalistic Key of Astrologie, that if one Planet be Lord of the ascendant and twelfth house, then the Sickness is more than natural…”: The 4th house and its derived 12th house (3rd radix) are both ruled by the same planet.

(2) “When Saturn is Lord of the ascendant and twelfth, and in the 12th Retrograde, or in the seventh or eighth house in the same condition, and the Moon being Lady of the sixth apply to Saturn, we constantly judge the party inquiring is Bewitched or Forespoken, or that an evil Spirit has power over him…”: Unsurprisingly, the chart does not perfectly match these excruciatingly precise conditions. But there are analogies. Saturn rules the 4th and the derived 12th. Saturn is not retrograde, but it is unfortunately combust in the derived 7th from the 4th and is in a close mutually applying trine with Jupiter retrograde in fall in the derived 12th.

(3) “If the Lord of the ascendant be Combust… or joined to the Lord of the twelfth house, there may be great fear, that the party inquiring or inquired for is Enchanted or Bewitched, or else some evil Spirits do haunt him”: as we have seen, Saturn/4-ruler is combust and joined by trine to Jupiter, near the cusp of the derived 12th.

The testimony of Jupiter in fall in the derived 12th house (= radix 3rd) is particularly convincing to me, even more so than Saturn’s combustion. Jupiter’s placement in the radix 3rd allows us to clearly distinguish the house from the haunting, since otherwise both would be signified by Saturn, which rules both the 3rd and the 4th. Jupiter is in fall, which an unpleasant or degraded influence, and applies by retrograde motion to a trine of Saturn/4-ruler: a 12th house sort of affliction troubling the house. Looks like a ghost to me.

Frankly, I’m surprised that there are so many strong arguments for a haunting, but there they are!

Is the haunting friendly? I would say probably not, given Saturn’s combustion and close applying aspect from a Jupiter quite seriously debilitated in the radix 3rd. At the same time, we do find assistance from the North Node in the 4th house and Venus strong in her own sign closely conjunct the Moon, lady of the 9th. What emerges is a picture closely in line with what the medium told her. The house has a restless spirit, but a guardian watches over the family. Still, the negative testimonies are serious enough that I would advise them to bring in an expert who knows how, as Lilly says, “in a natural way to discharge these curses” (CA p.213).

Judgment
The house is haunted. However, the family is safe and protected, and there is no reason to panic. That being said, it is not a good thing to have the unquiet dead – or whatever else – wafting around and giving everyone the heebie-jeebies. The querent would be advised to find someone who knows how to extradite them to their appointed realm.

Outcome
On September 8, the querent wrote: “Things have settled in a bit, after numerous methods employed requesting the spirits to leave. I haven't heard or seen anything weird lately. I'm just trying to fix the house up a bit so I can put it up for sale. Now, will I be able to sell it or not? - that would be the subject of another horary.”

Here is a visual, since the chart was resurrected by JCK:

So, I have a fair amount of experience with haunted residents (I am a natal Pluto in the 4th and it seems to make me more sensitive to spirits), and from what I have experienced with horary is that the 11th being emphasized deals with messages from guardians, whether that is akin to a guardian angel, or our loved ones who have crossed over. Here Mercury is emphasized, it disposits the 4th lord and sits between the 1st and 7th lord, translating light. Mercury is a messenger by nature. It also lords the 8th house of the dead.

I am skeptical that the spirit was malevolent. Nothing to me is emphasizing that. I would expect the querent/quesited to be afflicted. Venus in particular is an honored guest as quesited but since spirits are often assigned the 12th, here as a benfic in the 11th, it seems like a benevolent spirit, likely a female, possibly more than one entity in a cardinal sign. The 4th lord combust might point more to fear of the home, not knowing things about it, an air of mystery. Neptune is also antiscia/contra antiscia the asc/dsc, showing some mystery about the home. Perhaps the residence is like a portal due to its energy, that might be the NN conjunction to Neptune especially. The quesited mentioned it being without light, and in feng shui this can definitely alter the energies. If it is on a forked street, that would make it more open to spiritual attack, for example. While I don't believe a house itself can be good or bad, I do follow feng shui, and I do believe homes carry specific types of energies. Part of that though is also the energy that the residents bring to the home.

In traditional astrology, Saturn is often associated with the occult and unknown and when it is above the horizon in a day chart, there can be an emphasis on understanding this information somehow. Saturn is cold and dark but in the day it is warmed up and there is more clarity. I wonder if the combustion is somehow further emphasizing the unknown having a rare advantage somehow? I can only speculate but Saturn when combust is heated up when it is normally very cold and takes away life (Sun gives life). You could almost interpret it as the dead being allowed life in some sense? This, again, might just point to the home itself being a mechanism of communicating with the dead. Saturn is in a sign of Mercury, afterall.

Just my two cents. I remember someone recently coming to me about a spiritual attack and the chart literally showed a malevolent attack on the querent via malefic forces. You would expect something like that to show up in a chart with dangerous/bad entities.

Can you explain what you mean here? I know what antiscia and contra-antiscia are, but I don't understand this expression. Thanks.
I'm not sure what you mean by expression. Since Neptune is at 22 degrees Aquarius, Scorpio 8 degrees is antiscia, and 8 degrees Taurus contra antiscia. If Neptune is regarded as malefic, it might be something one would see as negative to connect with the ascendant in particular. It may not mean much here but it was just something I noticed.

It is interesting that in transit Saturn is currently combust in the opposite sign as seen here. There will be a blood moon lunar eclipse involving Saturn in a few weeks. *cue creepy music*

Okay, you're saying Neptune is the antiscion of the ASC/DSC. I think it was the missing preposition "of" that confused me. Thanks for clarifying.

Many years ago, I downloaded a few articles by Geeta Jha, a spiritual seeker and healer in India.
I am reproducing one of her article here on Demonic Possessions as the links I had on EzineArticles.com don't seem to work anymore.
She notes at the beginning of her article that «evil and demonic possessions are the interference by earth-bound souls» suggesting a link with the Nodal axis.
Since the article is centered on a person being under the influence of a demonic possession but as mentioned in the thread this can be extended to a haunted house (4th House) and it has similarities with what Lilly says. And of course, she uses the sidereal zodiac.
Hope this can be helpful.

-----------------
Evil and demonic possessions are the interference by earth-bound souls. There are two types of possessions - one is due to a discarnate soul who interferes with a particular person, and second is due to the conditions prevailing in a particular place, and which affects any person who happens to go there.
To perceive a possession one needs some psychic powers. There are a number of instances of astral interference in occult and spiritual world. By carefully analysing one's natal horoscope one can make a correct diagnosis of the cause and nature of the possession.
The position of the planets in a horoscope not only serves as an aid to the diagnosis but is a very important guide to treatment. A horoscope is to an occult therapist what an x-ray photo is to a doctor.

Factors Responsible For Possession
· Ascendant [its strength/weakness for general individual capabilities]
· Moon [for mental and emotional strength]
· Dragon head Rahu [for demonic interference]
· Mars [for violent and aggressive interference]
· Saturn [for evil and secret connections]
· 6th house [for cause and type of mental or physical illness]

Different combinations for evil and demonic possessions
· Saturn and Rahu present in the quadrant indicate possession or witch craft attack.
· Moon and Rahu present in the ascendant and Saturn and Mars present in 5th or 9th house indicates the native worship demonic or evil forces.
· Mars aspecting the ascendant and the 6th lord posited in 1st/7th/10th house indicates that the native is suffering from black magic or witchcraft.
· Ascendant's lord and Mars are posited in ascendant or in quadrant indicate evil psychic attack.
· Ascendant is of movable sign, Saturn present in 7th house, and the Moon is afflicted by evil planet denotes interference of demonic and evil forces.
Blessings!
