Saros 10S and Current Turmoil 1 by Andrew Bevan Would someone like to check my calcultions on this matter? I have registered the recent Solar Eclipse of Aug 1. as belonging to the family of the Saros Cycle 10S, which was initiated at the South Pole on March 17. 1179, 07.55 GMT (applying our current calendar). This initial eclipse does according to tradition bear meaning for the interpretations and effects given later eclipses of the same family. I am including an Astro*Cartography map for the Partial Solar Eclipse of March 17. 1179, which shows that Mars on the Upper Meridian of New York. This would tend to be in line with the current bloodshed at Wall Street. I also notice that the eclipse occurs on the Lower Meridian of California, which would seems to gives evidence to the recent seismic activity registered by Granny in the area and which is commented in our thread on the Autumn equinox. 4 by Andrew Bevan A Saros Cycle lasts 18 years. The previous member of this family was on July 22. 1990. The one before that July 10. 1972. Then before that again on June 30. 1964, etc. Source: 'Interpreting the Eclipses' - Carl Jansky. I found an old horary chart from 1990 "Will Money Endure?" The question was posed 18 yrs ago which is when we under the influence of the previous solar eclipse belonging to the same Saros family. Saros 126 5 by David Crook Hello Andrew, The Eclipse Home Page of Fred Espenak has the first eclipse in Saros 126 occurring on March 10, 1179, 7:39:51 GMT. Transiting Mars will be activating the eclipse degree and the eclipse chart Ascendant(at D.C.) in mid October. If there is an October surprise leading up to the U.S. election, it may happen then. Hi David, You are of course perfectly correct and I was aware of this, but as amilie points out it was a matter of choosing calendars. But a second point is whether the Solar eclipse should be numbered after the system used by Jansky, ie 10S (South), or according to the numeration used by Espanak. I attended a talk by Fred Espanak only last month and should have taken the opportunity to ask him regarding his numbering. The problem is that Espanak only will discuss matters of an astronomical nature and I am quite sure that the suggestion of a question of a topic of any another nature would have put him quite off on this occasion.
