Transiting Uranus Conj Natal Mars,

1
Natal Mars sits at 25 Pisces, and Natal 6th house begins at 26 Pisces so often read as 6th.

Now I've often been accused of repressing my creative mars and I wonder if this transit might be representative of breaking free in that arena? Also wonder if it might suggest a change in Physical exertion. I had a knee and ankle injury about 3 years ago that I allowed to lead me into being far to sedentary and wonder if this might suggest a radical change in that arena as well as my artistic side.

Aries by birth so that wet artsy Mars has always seemed a bit contradictory. In any case if any of you have earlier degree mars in Pisces and have dealt with this Uranus Conj Mars episode already I'd love to hear your experiences, Also those who've dealt with Uranus through the 6th,

thank you, Granny

Ms. Granny,

This type of thread is fun because it gives us free reign to talk about ourselves and I happen to be one of my favorite subjects.

Transiting Uranus exactly conjoined my natal Mars for the 2nd time about 8 hours ago. The first hit was on March 27th. There really is nothing I can associate Uranus with back in March and April*, but maybe this time it has something to do with my back yard 'revisioning'.

I've been using both Placidus and Whole Sign houses. With Placidus natal Mars is in the 3rd house and rules the 4th. With Whole Sign houses Mars is in the 4th and rules the 5th. In either case there's a 4th house garden connection. Back in mid-August I got hit with a powerful urge to seriously redesign and replant the back yard ? which doesn't have a speck of lawn anymore, but is completely filled with plants and paths. In August I finally realized how over-overwhelmingly oppressive it was. So much is tightly crammed into a relatively small space. Instead of being calming I found it anxiety-inducing. I even got a couple friends to confess to having the same experience when they walked through it. The last three roses that I planted 20 years ago are gone now. Dahlias in their late summer prime got ripped out of the ground because I needed a clean slate to visualize and work with. I'm usually one of those people who can't get himself to dig up a plant but I (relatively) easily swung into assassination mode. I've put in some shrubs and placed them for foundation and structure. Plants are better spaced and have more variation of height in order to reduce the look of a solid bank of plants. I've aimed for contrast of leaf color and shape.

What made me think a couple weeks ago that this was Uranus induced was the fact that it was a strong experience of wanting to break out of the garden's oppressiveness, and of destroying and starting over. And yes, I have metaphorically related it to my life's 'garden'.

The part that makes me nervous is that Saturn will oppose Mars in November and during the winter while Uranus is still within orb of its last conjunction with Mars. With natal Moon in partile trine to natal Mars and natal Mercury just a bit over 1 degree within trine of both Mars and Moon (one of those fancy-sounding Grand Trines), the Moon-Mercury-Mars package deal will be simultaneously shaken up and sat upon.

* I forgot: I hadn't seen the next door neighbor (3rd house) over the winter. I saw him outside in early April and realized something was seriously wrong. He could barely talk and looked different. I found out he had had a brain tumor. A couple weeks later a passing bicyclist found him in the street and I went over to help. He now has a caregiver with him 24 hours a day. Part of my garden planning is coming up with a plant screen to block a window where these strangers can look at me when I'm in my private space in the back. So this looks like a point for Placidus houses and natal Mars in the 3rd.

Ohh, Uranus/Mars.

I laughed at this, granny_skot:
Aries by birth so that wet artsy Mars has always seemed a bit contradictory.
As a Sagittarius with an Aries moon I understand this completely, particularly since my Pisces Mars is in the 1st house: it just don't do what it's supposed to.

I had about seven 'Years of Living Dangerously' wherein my natal chart was assaulted on several different fronts.

In 2003, right about this time, I had Pluto conjuncting natal Venus/Sun (it was separating from Venus and applying to the Sun), transiting Saturn in the 6th opposing my 12th house Mercury, AND transiting Mars and Uranus conjunct my 1st house Mars.

Hoo.

Because of all of this, it's difficult for me to separate out which transit was doing what. Life was terribly intense and I was near-suicidal, and it was actually about this time that my uncontrollable rages were at their worst. I mean, I exploded over absolutely everything and felt an almost manic desire to flee from my life: Africa sounded very appealing to me at this point, and I don't mean a nice safari. I meant, disappearing into Africa to do humanitarian work (well, I *do* have an 11th house Sun), never to surface again. I started getting migraines at this point: apropo of a 1st house Mars!

I think for me the biggest thing Uranus/Mars did was: a) nearly kill my marriage because of my urge to be 'free' and b) cause these terrible, screeching rages. I broke a lot of crockery around then. Scary. 'Fuming' would describe my normal state; that is, when I wasn't going ballistic over some minor thing.

Thank god THAT'S over with. The transit was relatively short: call it a 'short sharp shock', and that about sums it up.

GH :)

Edit: misspelled 'skot', so came back to correct! Sorry, GS.

I do like to hear about how people perceive transits to have affected them. So yes this is one of my favorite forms of discussion. :) I use placidus houses for Natal charts, I've never like whole sign charts they seem warped to me, but that is probably because I wasn't aware of them until about 5 years ago and I grew up with placidus. I've been known to forget to change to Regio when looking at Horary, luckily they tend to be close it hasn't been a problem too often.

Mars rules two signs, Aries and Scorpio, did you note any Scorpio/house related issues or only 4th house? I know it can be difficult to look back and pick such things out. :)

Gunhilde - the anger sounds like it came right out of Rob Hands Planets in Transit page 395
?Uranus conjunct Mars - this Transit Calls Forth very potent energies that can be quite disruptive, but they must be handled. Any effort to sidestep the issues that this transit raises could be disastrous.

Uranus and mars together represent explosive forces that may break out in any area of your life, but especially in areas ruled by the house in which this transit occurs.

On the psychological level, you may be much more irritable than usual and prone to outbursts of anger."
He goes on to talk about in-ability to put up with intolerable conditions or limitations (real or imagined) basically a need for self expression to burst forth. Also suggests that illness or accident may result from NOT dealing with this transit.

I have a 7th house sun and tenth house moon. :) When Pluto hit 23 Sagittarius he pretty much made a lovely Grand Trine in my birth chart. (oh and natal Uranus is 26 Leo so that stayed about a bit)

As Uranus is approaching this interesting phase I have an interesting Pluto phase coming up as well but wanted to get a grasp on peoples Uranus transits first. See how others are Experiencing Uranus or watching in a family member or friends chart. Thanks for the discussion so far, I'm enjoying looking at this.

Interestingly, a friend of mine had, at the same time I did the Mars/Uranus thing, a Moon/Uranus conjunction. His first child was born right about then, and not too long after that, he started an extramarital affair...which lasted about as long as the transit, I think. He then went back to his wife, and there he is, still.

Uranus certainly does represent bids for freedom, eh? In all sorts of ways.

GH :)

I'm going through it right now...

I have a 7th House Mars at 22 degrees Pisces. In another post, I talked about the frustrating impact of the Uranus transit through the 7th House in terms of relationships. Back in March, when Uranus was approaching 22 degrees, I got my first DUI charge (a Uranian surprise on Mars- in-alcohol-influenced Pisces). As Uranus goes back over 22 degrees this coming winter, it will finally go to trial.
All I know is that if my birth chart was a horary, the answer would be "No".

Ouch! let us hope it is your last DUI, that in future you take a cab home or something. I strongly recommend you review your options before it comes up in court!

I am surprised though, I would have thought a DUI would be more a 3rd or 9th house item, were you drinking because of a relationship issue? relationship or enemy for 7th house, so wondering how exactly that fits in.

Hi Granny

I'm not going to get Uranus in the same sign as my Mars for a lot of years yet. But I can share my experiences of its opposition, as they were some of the most obviosuly astrological influences I have ever experienced.

My natal Mars is at 14 Leo and progressed Mars at 23/24 Leo (a station for many years), so when Uranus was in Aquarius and crossing these degrees it was activated 6 times in total.

Every time, usually to the day, it affected my car (although on one occasion I didn't take the car out that day and it got me on a transiting Mars sextile two weeks later). The first time the aeriel was broken, three times I had minor accidents and once, when I was conscious of the need to take extra care on a the long journey due to the uranus risk, the engine overheated due to no water ( Moon and Neptune in my chart in T-square with the Mars)....

The latter day I even confused a security guy in a store because the automatic doors wouldn't work for me - but would for him etc!! I knew why but didn't explain.

House wise, Mars is in 7th, but Aries rules my 3rd house. and moon which rules 7th is in 3rd so there's a kind of reception things going on there too.

It is a very different set up to your chart, but might give you some pointers of how to look at your specifics.

One of the reasons I like this kind of discussion is it lets you look at some real life possibilities. So if you either come accross it in your work, or see it coming along in your life you have some real life examples to compare it with.

While I started it with the whole Pisces uranus mars conj in mind, I do wonder at what effects others may have noticed with earlier signs as well so if someone wants to discuss uranus conj Natal mars in a former sign (or as amelia did an opposition) that would be interesting I think to those of us who like these kinds of discussions.

Uranus of course is transiting other peoples Venus or Sun or other planets now as well, so possibly we could pick another planet to look at as well?

I dont know about the rest of you but I wouldn't mind having a discussion like this monthly? thoughts? the next one I'm considering discussing is a pluto transit.

I have a 5th house Mars in Pisces near 6th house cusp and have an Aries Sun in the seventh too. Know what you mean with the wishy washy quality of Pisces, my Mars is opposite Pluto so I think I do have strong energy reserves but they don't always get into gear. Once I get going I can be obsessively energetic in a positive way but gotta get past the procrastination.
I went through the Uranus transit first in June and July 2005 then again in Feb 2006 and it finally went out of orb in November of that year. At the time of the first transit I was moving house to another country and the Uranus type thing that happened was I went to my doctor about a lump in my breast I had had for years and he said I ought to get it removed so suddenly in the middle of all the moving I felt I had to deal with the lump after kind of having it in the back of my mind for ages. The lump had first appeared when Pluto conjunct my 2nd house Scorpio Moon in 1993 and I knew it was benign so left it but it sometimes bothered me as it had grown. At that 2005 transit I also had transit Saturn trine my Moon. I went to a hospital in the country I moved to and everything moved very quickly, they booked me in a few days after the first visit and it was done the day before we moved into our new house. Even the operation itself was very quick, in and out of hospital in a day, soon as the anaesthetic wore off I went home - to the chaos of packing cases. The second time Uranus passed over Mars I can tie up with a breakthrough in my painting - I had started a Masters in painting in November 2005 in the country we moved to and February was when it felt I started making progress, definitely a eureka moment - that felt out of the blue as well as I had spent until the Christmas break getting nowhere.

Hi quitefunky
yes think the Mars Pluto can be intense but quite fun in the 5th really - sports, art, kids, sex - all the best things for expending energy on....
Re Chiron it is conjunct Mars and you just reminded me that the first time I ever joined an astrology forum was around that time and that was when I first heard of Chiron, st the time that Uranus was exactly conjunct Chiron which I remember thinking was quite spooky at the time.

8th house as sex is a very modern idea and I've never found it to work very well. If you go to front page of Skyscript and look through the house definitions (which are traditional, not modern) I think you may find it makes astrology a bit easier to get through. less confusing and more accurate results, in my experience. And I started out strongly modern in my work it didn't take a lot to switch however when all of a sudden analysis started working. just my 2 cents.
