Thanks. I guess I don't have any easy questions right now though. I've been sorta trying to make sense of the presidential threads for a couple of weeks now, but I'm a bit lost.

I think the guy in question here is just a hypochondriac (Pisces is his 6th, and Jupiter sits in the 6th, with Mercury). That's my judgment from delineating his nativity, but I thought that I could give it another try, from a different angle (horary).

If I ask a "would he be faithful" question later, would y'all mind helping me through it? In this case, I was given determinations, and I can somewhat backtrack to see how it was done. But I know there is a lot to it that I'm not able to backtrack through.

If I were to post something like that, all I would like is hints, such as "look at the aspect between such planet and such planet, and their orb of separation/application.

I will try my best to give it a judgment call first. In the case of the chart I posted, I was caught up by the lord of the 7th and 6th both being in the first, and froze a bit.

I agree that this question may have at least seemed like something very heavy to start with.

The Sun is 12 degrees from the cusp of the 12th house, but 14 degrees from the cusp of the 11th - therefore I go with Jupiter. At any rate the hour will be on the cusp of Jupiter/Mars.

Hi Andrew, 11th house cusp is 6?52? Libra and 12th is 4?08? Scorpio so the Sun is just about in the middle (13,5? from both sides), but strictly speaking it's already Mars's and not Jupiter's hour. Check any astrology program for that and you'll see that's true.

You should, of course but I'd like to join the others and say, regardless of what your level of knowledge is , you're more than welcome to stay and ask...suggest...ask...talk...ask... It will take years and years for many of us here to reach the point of knowledge and experience some of the members of this forum already have- it is no reason to by shy or silent, quite the contrary- this is a great place to learn from those people. No one can learn astrology on a forum yet, it is a great place to be when learning and practicing horary astrology. One of the things I find most interesting and attractive here is the possibility to get informations about the real outcomes of the situations the questions were asked about. Finally, it's not only thr charts we can discuss here- I believe everyone reaches a phase of making some "bigger" ethical or philosophical questions that naturally come from practicing astrology every now and then. (For, it won't be good if we stop questioning what we do, it's what keeps our eyes open and our awareness of what we do on a higher level ). This is a great place to compare your own thoughts with other people points of view as you might have noticed even in this very topic.

I think that due to the seriousness of this question, the question should be treated professionally and since either the querent or artist is questioning his/her ability to judge the chart the matter should have been taken elsewhere. I don't think this is a practice question.

I may have misunderstood you Andrew but are you saying that the chart is "unsuitable" for a judgement? But this forum is not an astrology service, is it? If it was, it would certainly be wise to tell the client our reservations about giving a judgment to such a chart, especially if we were so presumptious (or naive or stupid) to think that the client will throw away his condoms if we told him that we think his prospective partner doesn't have aids. This forum is about practicing our art and exchanging our views, so any chart is welcome - as long as it's not of the "should I rob the bank" type, of course (Image someone posted a question "Is next Friday a good day to get rid of my mother-in-law"? Or "I killed the sheriff. Will I get cought?") It is the entire responsibility of the astrologer who posts a practice question what he or she will do with the information he or she gets from fellow astrologers who comment a chart. Looking at it from this angle, I can't imagine a question too "serious" to be handled here - except for those that I mentioned of course

On a different thread I have been arguing that the original concept of planetary hours are time-based and placidian, however, in horary many of us seem to favour the Regimontanus house system so that a planetary hour system should be based on the bisection of the houses according to the house system of your choice. In this thread another participant also sorely admited that we lack the astrological software that will display these calculations. This is not the issue that is being discussed here and I fully accept your explaination.

No, Ema, it isn't unsuitable for judgement and 'yes' this is a forum for open discussions, but if you consider yourself a novice of horary astrology, questions like 'Do I have an incurable disease?', 'Is my mother going to die?' and ''Who will win the US election?' seem at little bit like starting to practice the high-jump by setting the pole at 2 metres. If I go to my doctor because of a rash on the skin, the doctor refers me to visit a specialist. Or if the doctor takes some bloodtests, these are sent to another labetory for testing before I get the results. I think my general feeling is that some horary questions should be treated with more care than others, probably because I can not see who is sat on the other side or the full implications for everyone involved.

HI Andrew, if planetary hours were about bisection of houses in this or that house system, they wouldn't be the same technique, but something else. As we all know, planetary hours are portions of TIME, not of space or anything else. We get them by dividing the time between the sunsrise and sunset (or vice versa) by 12, and by adding those time units to the time of sunrise or sunset we get the appropriate "planetary hour ruler". As it happens, the Placidean house system is the only one which enables one to discern which hour of the day is it, because it is time based and therefore each house extands over exactly 2 planetary hours. By employing other house systems (equal, space based etc.) for this purpose you simply don't get the "true" planetary hour. As I said, that would be another technique entirely, and would have to get another name - and another set of interpretive rules too, I guess

Hi Andrew, I should've probably added that I might be wrong of course; I don't know much about the origin of planetary hours, but that's how I have always understood and perceived them. In any case, please correct me if you think I'm wrong.

I've cast another horary chart, this time, perhaps a bit easier for me to work on (?).
The question is "Will this person be faithful to me?"

(Again, the blue Moon is the lot of fortune, and the blue Sun is the Lot of Spirit)

I've used Regiomontanus cusps on this one. The lord of the hour is Saturn (although I have no clue what the planetary hours have to do with it).

I am Mars; he is Venus. Venus is in the 1st, making a nice opposition to the Lot of Fortune (are oppositions "nice" in horary?). It's the only aspect that the lord of the 7th makes. So from first glance, it would look like he's only with me.

Scorpio rising would seem to reflect the question, I think.

If I turn the chart, ruler of the term of the new rising degree is in the 8th, square the Sun, which is pretty much in the 6th. Sun is lord of his 4th--does this indicate a desire for domesticity?

If the 11th signifies affairs with others, and Jupiter is the lord of the turned 11th, and is in the turned 8th, couldn't this indicate some sort of affair?

I'm a bit embarrassed to post this judgment, because it is so elementary, in comparison to those that I've read here.

Again, clues would be nice, instead of a judgment.

The reason I asked about the opposition, is because in the Hellenistic tradition, it is not considered bad, but strong. The planets, in an opposition, are considered to be bound together in a strong relationship.

If I need to define opposition, as oppositional (as in the dictionary definition), for horary, I can bend my thinking a bit.

I'm not familiar with the role of Fortune in horary either, since I think of them as places to define ascendants for certain topics.

I know you're busy, but would anybody mind explaining the role of the lot of Fortune in horary? Is it just "fortune?"

How do the outer planets fit into horary? This is probably a really big question (it's one I haven't figured out yet in Hellenistic), since they don't rule any signs.
