Will he respond to my email?

Will he respond to my email?

Question was understood by me on December 27, 2008, 8:46 am CST, Houston, Texas.

Background: Quesitor is a single woman. Quesited is a married man. Several years ago, when the man was separated from his wife, Quesitor and the man had an affair. The man and wife reconciled, the stated reason being for the children, and Quesitor and the man have had no contact for at least 4 years until now.

The man sent the Quesitor a Christmas card, and woman Quesitor thanked him for the card by email. The man responded by email, stating that he deeply missed the woman Quesitor and expressed regret about the situation. The Quesitor replied by email, and now asks if the man will respond any further.

The chart is radical: The day is Saturn, and the hour is Jupiter. Jupiter sits on the ascendant in Capricorn. The ascendant is in a late degree, but I believe the chart may still be judged.

Saturn rules the Quesitor woman, the moon her married man. It is appropriate that the moon sits in her 12th house of secrets, and perhaps her undoing, in its detriment. However, the moon is in Capricorn, and ruled by Saturn, her significator. So, it is possible that his expressed affection for her is sincere. The moon is also 1 degree separating from the sun, a new moon and of course combust. The moon has no dignity, but Saturn is in its term.

Although not in orb, the moon's first applying aspect will be a trine to her significator, Saturn. That trine is 14 degrees away. The moon will then conjunct Mercury, in mutual reception to Saturn, and the natural ruler of communication. Finally, the moon conjuncts Jupiter, also in its detriment, which sits on the ascendant.

My (newbie) judgment: Yes, he will respond to her email, although it may not be for a couple of weeks. The moon, being combust and in its detriment, prohibits him from responding immediately, perhaps because of the Christmas holidays.

Do you agree with this judgment? Also, what significance, if any, do you see in Jupiter conjunct the ascendant and in its detriment?

Thanking you in advance.

Well, maybe not....

In reading Lilly's Aphorismes and Considerations, number 23 states: "Beware in all Judgments, when the Significator of the question is either Combust, or in Opposition to the Sun, he will then signify nothing of the matter, no good, nor is he able to bring any thing to perfection"

Since the moon, significator of the 7th house, is combust, perhaps the answer is "No," he will not respond to the email.

Thoughts?

The significator for the subject would be the email, in my opinion (also a newbie). Letters of all sorts are third house planets, which here would be Mars, in Capricorn. The Moon separated from a conjunction to Mars, and Mars is now applying to Saturn in a trine aspect before it leaves its sign (though Mars is also via combusta and there is a very large orb). I believe he will reply, and may have already written the response.

Jupiter conjunct the ASC, and Venus and the PoF in the first are benefic, which seem to say that she will get what she wants - a reply.

Hi, Tanit, I have seen more than one question of this type, and they have NEVER been answered by looking at the 3rd house. You always have to look for a contact with the person (in this case 7th house).

As you said you are a newbie, an advise: always reflect what the querent really wants, separated of his question. Yes, many people say that we should stick to the question, and I agree... but to the spirit of the question, not to the wording.

So, she wants an email, but what if she get a phone call ? Or by accident encounter him on the street ? Or get a regular mail in her mail box ? None of these are emails, but they would have made contact. And that is what we are looking for, contact.

Thank you, Tanit, for your analysis. I will certainly post here if the Quesited responds or, after a couple weeks, he does not. I think this is the only way we will learn.

Yuzuru: I also considered the 3rd house in looking at this chart, as the third house is communication in general, and, I believe, casual comings and goings.

What is your opinion and experience of a combust moon when it represents one of the significators?

Thanks,
Dlynne

Hi,
I didn?t take the time to properly see the chart, ok ? But answering to your question, if He is the moon, and the moon is combusted, there is three significations that are more likely:

In general: new beginnings, a new phase. In particular: that he is under some serious stress, he is opressed by something (probably money issues). Third that he is hidden from her.

The last seen to be the most probable, because moon is in a cadent sign, and worst, is in the 12th of hidden things. Besides taht, moon is in detriment. I don?t think his attitudes are clear or honest in relation to the querent, and she should take care.

I agree, and one of the most interesting things about this situation is that HE's the one that reopened the whole dubious can of worms to begin with by sending her the Christmas card, which seems to have had a lot of ambiguity and deceit attached to it (L. of his 3rd, Venus, is peregrine and partile conjunct Neptune in her 1st house). Also, it looks like his vanity was a pretty strong force behind it (SN in Leo in his 1st house with secondary ruler/Sun peregrine in her 12th.

Then as she takes the bait and thanks him with her e-mail (Mars in Cap. in the 12th), he gets past his guilt and vanity (Moon coming from conjunctions with Pluto and peregrine Sun) and starts having fantasies about the "thrill of the sneak" and exciting sex again (Moon sextile Uranus in Pisces in his 8th). And she's thinking about the sex, too, but in a much more serious, long-range context (her main significator Saturn in her 8th).

He also likes the idea that she's basically his possession (Saturn in his 2nd), and he's going to soon claim it (Moon about to conjunct L. of his 2nd, Mercury). Finally, *IT* happens (Moon conj. Jupiter/L. of his 8th, as well as her Asc.), and they're both pretty ecstatic for a short time (Moon conjunct P. of F. in her 1st and his 7th), but then that's the end of it 'cause it's like a vampire--can't last long in the light of day (her 1st house) and out of the night (her 12th house).

Then again, I might have gotten carried away a little, lol.

Wow, Carol. Not only is that an interesting and detailed analysis, but quite poetic, too. I talk with her on a regular basis, so I will post an update if anything happens. I like the vampire part, dissolving in the light of day.

Hi dlynne,

Thanks so much for the feedback and kind words, and I'll be very interested in how much of it, if any, actually rings true with the querant.

BTW, regarding that kind of stuff dissolving like a vampire in the light of day, it also usually ends up sucking all the life blood right out of you! (Moon in detriment coming to conjunction with Jupiter in fall right on the Asc.)

Hi, Steven

I feel guilty because I didn?t properly study the situation... I got involved because I was interested in the matter "3rd house x 7th".

But it is true... clients usually try to use "white lies" and a series of devises to not tell the truth of the situation to the astrologers. That?s why I think the considerations before judgment are so important. Just for an example, once a woman asked if she was ever going to be pregnant. The chart showed that she didn?t even started to try, and the question was without merit. In this example, querent tried to avoid the real question by asking a non important matter "will he send me an email ?".

But in this case let?s see. In charts asked by the lover, I usually take saturn as the 3rd wheel. But in this case saturn is already busy being the ruler of the ASC, hmmm...

In this case, we have a lot of red flags, showed by considerations before judgment. A late degree can be judged, yes, but it show that it is too late for ask. Why is too late for ask about an email ? Because she is really asking a different question than the astrologer understood. If she was asking "Will we start a relationship again?" I would expect a early degree, because all she received was a christmas card, not a marriage proposal. But instead, we got a late degree.

That?s why I think that is very possible that Steve is right. As the querent is not aware of the real situation, she hasn?t seen this man or his wife in 4 years, she doesn?t have any kind of power over the situation, and the focus of the matter is man and wife if they are united or breaking.

In that context, adding to what Steven said, I think it may be possible that querent is represented by mercury. Moon will conjunct mercury, but makes a trine with reception to saturn (the wife) first.

For what it is worth, I read once again Lilly's Questions concerning the 7th house. On p. 317, "If one's Lover or Wife hath a Sweetheart Besides Himself," and "Has She a Lover," the Querent is represented by the ascendant, and the Quesited the 7th house. Lilly goes on to analyse the questions by other planets aspecting the signifcator of the 7th house.

Frawley is adamant that the ascendant always represents the Querent, and suggests that Saturn could represent the spouse "unless Saturn is taken as a significator." Frawley goes on to say that if this the case, we must find another significator.

Nevertheless, the question really is (I believe) Will He Respond to My Email? I know this situation must sound like a cliche, but in fairness to the parties involved, it was not all black and white. The Querent and Quesited met after the wife left her husband and was prepared to start divorce proceedings. When she discovered that her husband met someone for whom he was developing substantial feelings, the equation changed for the wife and she had a change of heart. What followed was about 2 years of anguish for all involved, as the husband was caught between choosing to keep a family intact and choosing to keep a woman for whom he undoubtedly felt a great deal of affection. At the time all of this was going on, even his wife acknowledged the situation for what it was.

My friend did, in fact, in her last email to the man, state he did not need to respond. However, there is a question in her mind about a matter that he could choose to answer if he was inclined. That is the purpose of her question regarding a response to the email. The question she is looking to have answered through email is not a question about whether he is happy with his wife, or if he is planning to divorce his wife.

It is extremely doubtful that my friend and her married man would restart the relationship unless he and his wife were actually divorced. The emotional fallout the last time was too much for everyone...for her, the man, and his wife.

Personally, I am looking at the combust moon/significator, which Lilly firmly states cannot act. Frawley says that a combust significator cannot act temporarily, but may act after a delay if the subsequent aspects indicate action. We will see.
