Bibi...

I was joking about just learning my sun sign after 40 years of study! That's why I put the LOL face face at the end of the sentence. No worries about insulting me. You haven't even come close.

BTW, the SUN talisman was suggested to me by a noted astrological magician. It was not haphazardly chosen. I was looking for a Talsiman that would support more drive and ambition, and a brighter outlook., but I was very reluctant to mess around with MARS.

Here are the words of the astrologer who sold me the talisman:

For drive and ambition, Mars & the Sun fit the fit the bill.
Your Sun is peregrine, so it could use some definite
strengthening. I understand your reluctance about Mars.

I guess I somewhat tend towards the Sun. When I think ambition,
promotion, authority, success and enthusiasm, a real boost in your
mood, I think of the Sun. His sparkling lucidity is what seems to me
to be lacking, so the Sun is what I would suggest.

The astrology made sense at the time, and it still makes sense to me today. I have no regrets about purchasing it. I'm just wondering why I've not yet noticed any benefits that I am able to perceive. Perhaps as Kirk noted, it is my impatience that puts up a roadblock.

Have you done a personal consecration? Maybe you should ask a horary question about the certain talisman and its validity. The Universe is not exactly known for being consistent, maybe you have some problems that you don't even realize and it's taking longer for the talisman to manifest its effects on the material plane. I do know where you got this talisman from, I have in fact ordered one from the same place, I have not warn it too often because I am waiting to consecrate it. The Sun is very afflicted right now, maybe you should wait until it enters Aries to do a consecration? Even though you don't have to have an extensive background in magic to experience a talisman you have to know something about magic, and the different energies involved, there are so many energies and entities connected to each planet it could make your head spin! :-T

Hi LeoRising

You say your expectations of the talisman were ?An overall sense of well-being and a brighter outlook.? I don?t know how one would judge when these expectations had been met seeing as life if full of ups and downs, and our psychological reactions tend to go up with the ups and down with the downs.

If we focus on the aspect of the talisman being a ?remedy for melancholy/depression? we are in a better position to measure results. However, melancholy and depression are deep-seated symptoms and one cannot therefore expect quick results ? not even results at the end of a two month period.

It is possible you have been provided with a ?slow-burn? talisman. Sadly, I have no direct experience of using these slow-burn talismans so can?t give you an idea of how long you would need to wear one in order for its results to start showing. Some (probably most) gem-therapy used by Vedic astrologers work with the chosen gem acting as a slow-burn remedial measure. Maybe someone on the forum with experience in this field can share with us their knowledge of how long gem-therapy generally takes to work.

Clearly the astrologer who made the talisman for you has studied your chart. Nevertheless, I understand Mithra6 wanting information about the sign, degree and house position of your Sun. Personally, I?d like to view the whole chart ? because other things will be going on in it than just the placement of the Sun. That is why BiBi_Anderson is asking if anything is aspecting your Sun by square.

There may be reasons, however, why you are unwilling to share that information on the forum. If that is the case, I respect your decision.

Yes I should have asked for more info, but I was being conservative.

Really, if your Sun is peregrine, not to mention any aspects it has, I wouldn't expect much of an effect for a Sun talisman. If a benefic is favorably aspecting the Sun, maybe you'll get a small boost, but not much. If your Sun is in the 11th, most of the effects, mediocre or not, will mostly be seen in 11th house matters plus the houses it ruled by Leo and Aries.

From the looks of it, I wouldn't expect much. I don't know who the magician is, but from other magicians who know what they're doing, all they can do is advise. No one can promise an effect.

Plus with all due respect, we don't know your side of the exchange.

I followed a 6 day consecration process. The first day was performend just after sunrise on a Sunday. The next five days, I performed the ceremony during a time when the planetary hour belonged to the Sun. I don't recall the exact dates, but it was in early/mid December. I do plan to perform the consecration process again when the sun moves into Aries in a few weeks.

Thank you for the chart details.

Kirk has put his finger accurately on the most obviously noticeable effects on your personality of the Mercury/Mars conjunction when he speaks so eloquently of your impatience. My own phrase for this configuration is ?no sooner the word than the deed?!

My first thought on seeing the chart, however, was that the depression/melancholia from which you suffer is most probably aligned with your Moon/Saturn conjunction. One writer has opined:

?The Moon-Saturn conjunction denotes [a] lot of mental conflict and agitation . . .? But on the plus side adds ?this combination, occurring in a sensitive sign like Virgo [can increase] the capacity to realise the relativity of virtue and [broaden ones] moral conceptions.?

Another author tells us: ?Astrologically, the Moon strengthens any planets associated with her except Saturn, which stifles the blossoming life-energy [relayed to Earth from the Sun by the Moon] at every level.?

If the Moon/Saturn conjunction does indicate your problem, one then has to decide how one would relieve the condition ? taking into account, as previous people posting to this topic have astutely remarked, the degree to which the condition can be relieved.

As one who suffers under this aspect themselves, I?m certain the condition cannot be obliterated; it is too much part of who are in this incarnation. For some people, it may be possible to alleviate the condition.

That said, you chart poses several problems in this regard. It wouldn?t be wise to increase the strength of Saturn, or of the Moon, for by doing so one might inadvertently increase the force behind the melancholia. A strengthened Jupiter might make you more jovial, but he is Fallen and retrograde, and his energies must therefore be handled with care.

To increase the power of Mars would not be advisable. Generally speaking, one does not work through the energies of Mars or Saturn unless these planets are very well disposed in the horoscope: in their own or exaltation signs, while also being in favorable houses, for instance.

Venus is a possibility, but she is applying to an opposition (it seems almost partile) of Jupiter who, as already mentioned, is Fallen and retrograde. In any case, Venus is not quite the appropriate planetary force on which to rely in this situation.

The best choice, therefore, is the Sun. Though weak, in the ways your astrologer/magician has described to you, on the other hand he is unafflicted by Squares or Oppositions or negative Conjunctions. It seems likely your astrologer has provided you with a highly charged Sun talisman in the hope that, over time, the energies infused into it will seep into your aura (or into your Sun chakra) . . . but, if so, the key words would be ?over time.?

That is my opinion, but I am more than willing to be corrected by those who know more about this subject than I do.

I sincerely appreciate your thoughtful analysis. I've gone thru my chart, planet by planet in a manner similar to the way you did, and I've drawn similar conclusions. It all makes sense to me. I also believe that you are right on the money in regard to my astrologer in his wisdom, suggesting a SUN talisman to deal with the melancholoy/depression issue...over time.

At the time, we discussed the possibility of a MERCURY talisman, it being both the final dispositor of my chart AND the most dignified planet in my chart. Even so, we both felt that MERCURY was not the best planet to deal with the melancholy/depression issue. I am beginning to think, that perhaps, wearing a MERCURY talisman in addition to the SUN talisman would be a beneficial combination. I am considering this possibility. What do you think about that?

many blessings.....Franco

As you note, certainly Mercury is not the best planet to deal with the melancholy/depression issue.

"I am beginning to think, that perhaps, wearing a MERCURY talisman in addition to the SUN talisman would be a beneficial combination. I am considering this possibility."

I assume you want to employ the Mercury talisman for aid with mercurial pursuits/issues, not as a means of alleviating your melancholia. If that's so, a Mercury talisman could be beneficial to you. Like you say, it's one of the strongest planets in the chart. (Maybe it's the strongest - I haven't had time to study all planets in that kind of detail.)

I don't have experience of wearing two planetary talismans at the same time to draw on, so can't say whether this would work out well or not.

Perhaps this an occasion where one might take a leaf out of BiBi_Anderson's book and ask a horary question along the lines of: Will these two talismans function well together without the energies of one interfering with the energies of the other?
