JAKARTA, Indonesia ? A powerful earthquake struck off eastern Indonesia early Thursday, briefly triggering fears of a tsunami. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the 7.0-magnitude quake struck at 1:34 a.m. (1734 Wednesday GMT, 2:34 p.m. Wednesday EST) about 195 miles (315 kilometers) from Manado, the northernmost city on Sulawesi island.
It was centered 21 miles (35 kilometers) beneath the ocean floor, the agency said.
Five aftershocks measuring more than magnitude 5 followed, the USGS said on its Web site.

Also the January Eclipse chart had Saturn on IC (and Uranus on MC) in Indonesia.
In the state of New York Saturn was on MC and in Newark Uranus on IC. (The plane crash).
Both things happened when Mars was applying to the Eclipse degree (6 Aquarius).

That's a great chart, 3D! The Moon is separating from Saturn and Uranus, but is on the other hand culminating and square the ascendant at the moment of the quake.

I find myself pounding on the question of why the Moon was separating and not applying to Saturn/Uranus, and is there any way in which we could have roughly pin-pointed the location of this quake in advance. I do believe the answer to this question must be located in the preceeding syzygy or one of the eclipses.

If there were warning tremors in the area it may have been possible to speculate in and warn a potential maximum of tension along with the Moon's configuration with SA/UR.

I tried calculating a chart for the Moon's conjunction with Saturn at this location, since this is when the configuration starte, and got the Ascendant 25 Scorpio (opposite Algol) and the MC at 21LE38. This could be an interesting observation because it puts Chiron and the Sun on the IC or Lower Midheaven at the time. And of course the Lunar Eclipse of Feb 9. 2009 is at 21LE00.

With the 3rd quarter of the Moon occuring with the luminaries in the 29th degree of the fixed signs I would not be suprized if I woke up tomorrow morning to learn of a new major quake of global significance. The 29th degree of the fixed signs, Scorpio and Aquarius in particular, are ominous as tension is high.

Well, that seemed to pass rather unnoticed. However, I think I will cast a Astro*Cartography chart and check this chart if there should occur an unexpected 'Bang' in the near future.
