Norway confirmed two cases of Swine Flu yesterday, May 9. The infection was discovered on two students who returned home from studies in Mexico to Norway after the Swine Flu warning was issued. The virus bearers, both in their 20's, are being treated and the flu, in their cases, is termed as mild.

The Swine Flu, that has now has been renamed H1N1, does not appear to be a lethally vicious as first feared, but on the other hand the flu is rapidly spreading world wide. There is interesting information available on the internet on how various viruses between a pig and a bird are supposed to have mutated and then passed on to Man, to create the new virus.

Hello Andrew,

we had the same in Italy, several case between tourists coming back from Mexico, and all of them recovered easily and swiftly from it.

Astrologically talking, I tend to think it's something depending on the opposition Saturn-Mars of these months.

They are the same planets which astrologers believed the cause of the plague of 1345 and of the end of 1400.

From 'Astrological Cycles' by John Townley:
Neptune cycle - Neptune's 164-year cycle is associated most often with religious changes, but again may vary by sign. Neptune in Aquarius, for instance, is quite consistently associated with the great plagues, extending all the way back to the Roman times.

But how is it possible??
When was Neptune discovered?

Try this:

I cannot find the original text, but Ficino says the same and this I saw with my eyes.

Yes, because

if I understand here Townley says that Neptune was associated with plagues "extending all the way back to the Roman times."

Who associated Neptune in Aquarius with plague? Just Townley! Or I'm wrong in something?

Townley suggests that Neptune in may consistently be associated with plagues back to the Roman times.

To answer your other question, Neptune was discovered on 23. September 1846. I believe it is quite common to backtrack to possible meanings of the outer planets and their cycles prior to when they enter our rational mind or collective awareness in conjunction their scientific discovery.

I'm not very convinced about outer planets' cycle.
I can deal with the fact that an opposition or a conjunction could say us something and the same one of these planets in an angle, but that Neptune in Aquarius could signify something....

Neptune was in Aquarius for the famous plague of 1348, but not for 1603 or 1630, which were very famous too, and it was not in Aquarius for the plague mentioned by Ficino of the end of 1400.

Which epidemics does Townley mention?

I have seen many "research" with the cycles of the outer planets, generally with no amount of rigorous work.

For instance, recently I saw an astrologer blaming the cultural revolution of 68 to an aspect between the outers that was complete in 65! When we work this way is just a game of putting the pieces together in the way that we like it, don?t bother if the pieces fit...

The only serious work with the outers that I am aware of is the one from Barbault. He really does follow all the manifestations of the cycle for several centuries, and with a lot of relevant data, not only what he found in 5 minutes in the "history of the world for astrologers"

I thought it was more the conj or opposition of Saturn nad Neptune that had to do with epidemics, which is soley to do with Neptune and Saturn being near conj for the Spanish Flu in Leo Opposite Venus in Aquarius at the Start.

though in 1347 it looks as though Neptune was in Aquarius while Saturn was in Pisces, but that plague did not start in 1347, but in 1346 or earlier, in the Mongol Empire. it spread to Europe in 1347, but saturn was still in Pisces and Neptune still in Aquarius. :) in 1343 Saturn and Neptune did Conj in early Aquarius, so it may be that was the origin of the Pandemic. (Just watched an interesting documentary on the History channel on this plague, I felt it was rather limited film, but still better than most)

1603 Neptune in Virgo and Saturn in Scorpio

1630 Neptune end of Libra beginning of Scorpio and Saturn End of Libra and Beginning of Scorpio, so there at least seems to be another conjunction...

So 1603 doesn't sit well with my theory, otherwise the others might do... depending on actual data...
