Horary Test 2 - Will I get the job

1
This is a horary "mystery chart". You can put your answer below. I will give the result friday at night.

Question - Will I get the job?

Background - A colleague from my course said that there was an opening in their department at the university. I had an interview with a few coordinators booked in a few days.

Did I get the job?

Note: the houses are in Alchabitius, but you can use whatever system that you want. I normally use Regiomontanus.

Hmmmm.... You didn't get it??? :???:

(I've opened the chart in Regio.)- you're Venus and the job is the Moon (L10). So, the job has stolen the co-significator of the question again- such charts always confuse me! :)))

Ok, so, the main reason why I'd say that it was a NO is because there are no applying aspects between your ruler and the ruler of the 10th. The Moon is separating from your ruler and there is no TOL. Unless, the Moon applying to its dispositor before leaving the sign has changed the situation but I'm not sure whether that aspect alone is capable of bringing the positive result. Of course, I may be wrong!

Given that the job has had something to do with high(er) education, the placement of the Sun (authorities, high positions...) on the cusp of the 9th could be saying something about this situation (unless it is only descriptive of the job as the Sun is actually the dispositor of the L10) but I don't like the shape of the 9th house ruler- it's retrograde. Mercury is also the ruler of the 12th and inside the 9th.

What looks very interesting, though, is the influence of the 7th house in this chart. The L7 is strong in Aries, sitting on the cusp of the 7th and forming major aspects with the ruler of the job (separating but partile), Saturn and applying to Sun. Trines and sextiles! The job (the Moon) is in the term and face of Mars . Could it be someone who had already gotten the job?
As for your Venus, her only aspect is the trine with the ruler of the 6th and the 3rd (could that be your colleague)? Only Jupiter is also retrograde which, i guess brings some kind of negativity to this matter!

My bet is:

Yes, you got the job !

1. fortunate FS Arcturus and Spica cnj the Asc.
2. Venus L1 in the 10th, and mutually applying to trine benefic Jupiter L3 and dispositor of PoF. Jupiter is also the exaltation ruler of the 10th.
3. Moon in H11, Q's co-sig, applies to sextile Sun (job's natural sig and L11) , its dispositor, in the 9th (uni).

Though, at the same time Moon translates very strong and angular Mars L7 (adversaries) to Sun. This is a bit confusing, as if the job had already been promised to someone else.

5
This is really a hard chart ain't it?

Anyway, my bet is yes, you got the job. Let's see why I think that...

First of all, we see Mars, in its own domicile, opposing the AC. You said in your explanation, if I understood correctly, that the question was done before the interview.

I was tempted to say that this Mars was someone already chosen for the position, but since he's in it's own dignity, and the Moon is in this Mars terms, I do not believe that. Rather, this Mars is the interview/dispute and the difficulty level it will present, it's quality. And hopefully it will be a honest, reliable selection as the dignity of Mars states, a fair fight (I really hope I'm not wrong on this). The hint for that is in the fact that the Moon is in separative aspect. So, the Moon contacted Mars like saying "hey, let's make a selection, put some guys to fight over a position!" (notice that the Moon's light carried the Light of Mars through it's trigon to Mars and sextille to the AC, by means of the 11th house of friends, a friend represented by the Moon (female friend?) as well). Alright, now the Moon's next aspect is to the Sun, and the Sun is ruled by Mercury, which is the University. The Sun rules the 2nd from the 10th, which is gain from the 10th and by the very nature of the Sun, represents a position of power, and receives both Mars in it's exaltation and, more important, Venus, on it's own domicile (domicile is stronger than exaltation no? Let's find out). And I find the Moon and Venus to be within the same enviroment important as well, even if there is no application between them, there is no application to Mars as well, so the outcome is decided by another application.

So, how is Venus. It's within orb of Jupiter, it's next aspect. Jupiter represents expansion in financial gain (inside 2nd) and a position of servitude (as ruler of 6th) a relation to the 9th (3rd sign by whole signs, and 3rd house ruler) and in it's own domicile, is on the terms of Venus. The retrogradation of Jupiter is of little consequence in this chart in my opinion, since that means it travels further in the 2nd house instead of farther from it (I've seen a chart with a Sagitarius Jupiter retrograde near the AC, where it was actually important, since it represented the lord of life departing from the AC, so I'll place my bets on context here. Also, this retrogradation may mean having a salary again, or something like that). There is an interesting chain of terms in the chart that could be revealing: Sun is under Mercury terms, and Mercury rules the Sun under Venus terms. Venus and Mars are under Saturn terms, and Saturn, although in detriment, is in Hayz (which diminishs it's bad position) but is hard to define what it represents (and of no direct consequence I might add, since it's not Venus/Moon next aspect). Since the Moon contacted it before the aspect to Mars, it may say that the former worker had to leave, leaving an "empty space".

So, unless someone else had already been chosen, what I doubt, I think that yes, the job was yours. The Lots of Fortune and Spirit reveal little in my opinion, but I find their testimony a little bit negative... but Spica is on the AC, and the only chart I cast for myself that had a succesfull outcome had Spica on the MC (although with lots of delays, the event came) so I have a little bit of faith in this fine star. If a application of the lights, like says Lilly, does not bring a good outcome for the querent in this case, I do not know what will anymore...

Arghh , now that i read this post i think- he is so smart!!!!! :)))))))
When I compare this reading to my notes- it seems like I've spotted the most important factors all right only I've interpreted them the other way around- and I was probably wrong!

I like Yuzuru's idea of "test-charts" so, instead of just trying to read the chart i'll try to learn a bit from your readings as well.

Not so long ago, I've seen a horary chart cast for a job question (my chart, actually) with the ruler of the 10th sitting inside the Querent's 1st (the job coming to me) only the L1 and the L7 were only brought together by the Moon which would be a perfection unless it was a New Moon. The chart is still not out of date but I think it was (and will be) a clear no. That's why I couldn't help but to think that this was a no - too! Because there was no connection between the main significators ! L1 is inside the 10th (Yuzuru was obviously interested in getting that job at the time the question was asked-his ruler going into the house of career)!
I did spot the influence of the 6th but then I remembered that, in another thread, when i asked whether the 6th should be examined when the Querent is applying for a daily job (as an overqualified worker), Deb said that it would still be the 10th to bring the news about the new job regardless of the nature of the job. Aso, the information about the job opportunity came through a colleague (the 6th) and the aspect between the L1 and the L6 seemed logical. BUT, what i wasn't paying nough attention to was that the Jupiter was inside the 2nd (and the incomes have got everything to do with a job question) and that the 2nd house "loves" Jupiter (expansion"). Only its retrograde motion led me to believe that it was a sign of some sort of negativity (along with the retrograde Mercury- communication, news, informations; maybe a bad advice or a false information) but, now that i read PNF's explanation, the idea of the retrograde Jupiter (benefic) inside the 2nd (salaries) being a sign of the incomes coming back to the Querent make a lot of sense.

as for the Mars- i could'nt help but thinking it was another person- a competitor maybe! And a luckier one! Your explanation brings a new light on that part of the chart!
The reason why i'm still a bit more keen to believe that the Mars was not really on Yuzuru's side here is the fact that the Mars (whoever or whatever the 7th house ruler may be representing here) is opposing the Asc from a very powerful position! Also, the Moon being well received by Mars wasmade me think that it was maybe another party (another aplicant) that gets the job insead of Yuzuru.
There is an interesting chain of terms in the chart that could be revealing: Sun is under Mercury terms, and Mercury rules the Sun under Venus terms. Venus and Mars are under Saturn terms, and Saturn, although in detriment
yah, quite some chain!

I've also entirely neglected the fixed stars obviously.

Anyways, i'm looking forward to hearing more readings and Yuzuru's answer on Friday! :)

My initial thought was the same as Aglaya's - no applying aspect between the querent (L1) and the quesited (L10). My next thought was Moon applying to L11 - your friend got the job?!
Aglaya wrote:L1 one is inside the 10th (my first thought was that it simply says Yuzuru was interested in getting that work at the time the question was asked!
I agree. I think it's fairly common to find the querent's sig in the quesited's house.

My answer: yes, the querent got the job after some delays, which were perhaps related to the job?s wages. I really hope that isn?t an embarrassingly dumb, wrong answer. Let me explain my reasoning.

Almost every planet (of the seven classical planets) is in a strong dignity of the Sun--either the domicile, exaltation or triplicity. The Sun is Lord 11. In a job horary, L11 signifies the job?s wages, because it is the second of the tenth. To me, this suggests that money is major factor in the outcome. The condition of L4-the end of the matter supports this reading. L4 is Saturn, in his detriment, sitting right on the eleventh house cusp. Some really nasty delays block the querent from getting the money. Ultimately, the delays are overcome: the Sun rules over Saturn. The Sun, in his own face, has just a smidge more essential dignity than Saturn in detriment. Moreover, the Sun is in his joy in the ninth.

The 11th house can also represent the ?querent?s wish.? Perhaps the Sun?s strong influence also indicates that the querent REALLY desires this position. The Part of Fortune, in Sagittarius conjunct the third house cusp, supports this reading. According to Frawley, Fortuna can show whatever the querent?s ?treasure? is with respect to the question (Horary Textbook, page 120). The third house represents students. The querent?s treasure, in the context of this chart, is the new students he will have if he gets the position. Jupiter, L3 and also ruler of the PoF, tenants the querent?s second house, which portrays the querent?s desire to have income by having students (BTW: Since this is a university job, I am making the assumption it involves teaching--but that could be wrong, because there are of course, other types of jobs at universities).

But is the querent?s desire fulfilled? The Moon-L10 has already separated from its conjunction with querent-L1. In fact, the Moon?s most recent aspect is a trine to Mars, L7. In most job horaries, L7 can represent the querent?s competition for the job. The aspect from L10 to L7 could testify someone got else it. However, we know from the background to the question that the querent learned of this job through a colleague. L7 also rules colleagues. L1 and L7 behold one another and are in the same triplicity--they are friends. Moreover, Mars is not in any dignities of Moon-L10; he is not interested in the job himself.

L10?s next and final aspect is a sextile to the Sun, L11. The job and the querent?s wish are joined. The querent gets the job. Hurray! Except . . . I am not satisfied with this aspect showing a positive outcome all by itself. It?s too big a leap. I want to see something more direct. Since money is a key issue here, I should look at the querent?s second house. L2 is . . . Mars!! The Moon-L10 joins L2-querent?s pocket with L11-job?s wages. Querent gets the job.

Jupiter, natural ruler of universities, tenants the second house. L1-Venus is applying to a trine with Jupiter. Because Jupiter also rules the PoF, this aspect further supports a positive judgement: querent gets the job.

Jupiter is retrograde. Mercury is retrograde. Retrogrades also indicate delays. Could the delays involve some third house matter? Here?s why I think this: the only planet not in any of the Sun?s dignities is Mercury. Mercury is L9, the school. Mercury is in the domicile of L10, the Moon, which makes perfect sense because the job is at the school. Mercury is also in dignities of Jupiter, L3. Perhaps retrograde Mercury is ?holding back' because of something related to students? contractual issues? commuting issues?

Boy, this chart sure requires some fancypants astrology to interpret!

Best--

About ascd lord in 10th..

Lilly CA II page 444:(emphasis mine)
CHAP.
LXXXII.

Of Government, Office, Dignity, Preferment, or any place of
Command or Trust, whether attainable or not?

The 1st house and his Lord are given to the Querent, the 10th house and his Lord shall signifie the Place, Office, Preferment, Command, Honour, &c. enquired after; if the Lord of the ascendant and the Moon be both joyned to the Sun, or to the Lord of the 10th, or either of them, and the Lord of the 10th behold the 10th, or be personally therein, the Querent shall then have the thing sought after, but not Gratis; nay, he must bestir himselfe, and use all the friends he can about it: if none of the Significators be joyned to the Lord of the 10th,, see if the Lord of the 1st or Moon be in the 10th, he shall then attain what he desires, if that Planet be not impedited:

Well this seems to be one of those charts which gives a different answer depending on how you read it.

If you just take simple rulers of 1st and 10th there is no applying aspect and the answer would be no.

But a Moon applying to a trine to the Sun is usually beneficial in any chart.
So it is worth looking further. The Sun is placed in the 9th, representing a position in the University, so it looks like the Moon is moving into aspect with this post, so I am tempted to use the moon as the significator of the querent here. i.e suggesting you did get the job.

Also, as pankajdubey says the fact that venus ruler of 1st is in 10th is promising. Venus has to meet the coordinators -I would say the interview with these is ruled by the Jupiter trine coming up and again this is quite positive.

However there are two things that bother me - It appears that Venus's last aspect is a conjunction with Saturn in 10th - maybe the post is more of a burden than an opportunity for you. Also Mercury is retrograde - now it isn't an important significator for the question and doesn't appear to make any aspects but it is also in 9th and that does lead me to wonder again if there is something not quite right about the job that is on offer.

I'm interested in what others have said about the Mars - I saw this as just being the colleague who brought the opportunity to your attention as the Moon in separating from aspect to Mars, but can now see it could also be the competition etc.

Either way, whoever did get the job, I feel it was already essentially gifted by the time you asked the question and anything else was a formality.

On balance, given the Moon/Sun aspect, I think it was you who got the job, though.

12
It's a tough one. I think no, Mars took it from you. Moon in his term and face and she is with him in trine, and he is dignified in his own house, while Venus aspects a retrograde one.
But Spica rising is great, and the eleventh (my choice is wholesign houses) is a good place, and that retrograde Jupiter with whom Venus is in trine is well dignified so I guess only applying for the job had some good increment for you, maybe they considered you later, or offered something else?
