My Solar Return 1 by Dolly Hi everyone At the moment I am working my way through Bernadette Brady's book of Fixed Stars and I have cast my solar chart (just having had my birthday) for 2009. I have relocated it to where I live now and the descendant and ascendant are on nought degrees but even odder is the fact that most of my planets are peregrine. Can anyone tell me what this means. I know that in horary they (peregrine) planets are depicted as being homeless wanderers and wondered how I can interpret that to a solar chart. I am trying to see what fixed stars are prominent in my solar chart for this year and of course how to interpret their meaning - by the time I get it no doubt I will be doing next years solar return!!!! 2 by PFN Dolly, more important than peregrinity is to see if any planet (besides the Sun, obviously) returns to it's place or to the aspect of it's place, or to the place or aspect of any other planet in your natal chart. Besides, the AC of you SR can indicate lot's of things, depending on the configuration of the angles with your natal chart. Finally, see if any planet is near a angle. Quote Sun Jun 14, 2009 2:13 pm
3 by Olivia You might also want to do SRs for a few 'banner years' one way or another in your life - they're often easier to read in retrospect. For instance, when I've had years I've travelled a lot, my SR usually has had a loaded 9th house, major surgeries and accidents have had very active 8th houses, quirky to my chart Saturn brings money (it's my 2 ruler, decently dignified natally though not super-dignified - and it's retrograde, so it doesn't work perfectly but it works some), the Sun is far more malefic than it is for most people, and Mars is a worse malefic for me than Saturn is, even though Saturn is angular in my natal chart and Mars is cadent - but it's peregrine and heavily afflicted, whilst Saturn's only affliction is retrogradation (which yes, messes it up some, but it's not in near as bad a shape as Mars is). Interestingly, Sun and Mars are the only peregrine planets in my natal chart, so the Sun's always going to be peregrine in an SR, and Mars wreaks havoc wherever it happens to fall during any given SR, whether it's peregrine in the SR or not. Venus, the Moon, and Jupiter all have high essential dignity in my natal chart, and tend to behave well and generally bring some benefit wherever they fall - even though the Moon is severely afflicted natally. It isn't entirely black and white but you'll probably be able to spot the patterns pretty easily. In other words, you can look at the old returns and many things will be obvious (very active 9th house is likely a lot of travel, lots of activity in the 10th house and a lot of career stuff happens, etc.) - and with some of them it'll be easy to see how they connect to your natal chart. My Solar Return 4 by Dolly Hi everyone, I have been looking at my solar return and notice that the Sun (ego,ones body) is in 10th which is my natal 12th so these two houses I guess are going to be important this year - my career, ego, reputation or public persona and hospitals, secrets, hidden things -my natal ascendant is actually 18 degrees Gemini and because the SR Sun is in 12th can I say that the Solar Return Sun is square Natal Sun - I am a bit confused as obviously the Sun is in Gemini at 14 degrees in both solar and natal. The ascendant in this chart is at 29 degrees Leo but most of the 1st house contains Virgo which is my Natal 3rd and 4th My natal Saturn and my SR Saturn are conjunct - my natal Saturn is in 4th (home) and SR Saturn is in 1st - restriction in home or maybe me being restricted to home My SR Moon (emotions) is in 3rd (communications, letters, e-mails, internet) but conjunct 4th (home, endings) (5 degree rule) so 4th again (emotionally attached to home or things happening to upset me in my home) Solar Return Mars (surgery, aggression) and Venus (loved one, money etc.,) conjunct Natal Venus in Solar Return in 9th (foreigners, specialists, law) in natal 12th hospitals, secrets etc., again, (money - love, loved one Venus) - is it to do with my health operations in the offing I wonder or my loved one. My actual 6th house in Natal has Scorpio on the cusp and in Solar Return is on 3rd and 4th (yikes endings) I know you haven't got the chart but if you could just tell me if I am on the right track I would be most grateful - the fixed stars can wait till I have this clear. A lack of essential dignity might be offset by accidental dignity. An angular solar return planet will have a lot to say about trends in the coming year peregrine or not. I guess we can just breathe a little easier when an angular planet also has essential dignity because it suggests we have ample inner resources to handle the main challenges or opportunities that come our way in the solar return year. In my Natal chart, both planets are angular and aren't peregrine (Saturn-1st, Mars intercepted inside the 1oth) and partile squaring each other with mixed reception . In my this year's SR(or last year's, I'm Cancer) which was also the year of my 1st Saturn return, the planets were partile conjunct (the conjunction took place 1 day before my birthday), also conjuncting the Saturn's natal position (Saturn return) and squaring the natal placement of Mars. Even the Asc in my SR was only 2 degrees away from my Natal Asc which activated the square from the Natal chart and the meaning of the radical houses and planets' placement inside them. A very stressfull year, needles to add! The keywords: job (the 10th), mother (1st/10th axes as well as the interception inside the 10th, Mother's physical and psychical condition )and, of course, with Mars/Saturn (broken bones) conjunc. inside the 1st (the head)and activating the square from my Natal chart- 7 broken teeth. And i don't participate in street fights either, I was simply- chewing meat! Peregrine planets are like gypsies. They have to make do with what they've got. I like this! Go back three generations and my paternal ancestors were gypsies - Travellers or Tinkers in the west of Ireland. 9 by aglaya Lovely parallel, tara! And it's true- who says wanderers are smarter than the people with steady jobs. Olivia, most of my planet are peregrine too! I think analyzing the Almuten from my Natal chart in SR charts has helped a lot in deciphering some things in my case, even determining almutens in SR charts to get the broader picture. The ruler of Natal Asc is Mercury placed inside the 12th (partile conjunct Jupiter)- it is heavily aspected, reasonably well dignified and ruler of 4 of 4 houses. It is very "present" in my life, but not the strongest planet. Accidental dignities can help as well. Quote Thu Jun 18, 2009 2:03 pm
10 by Tom Here are some of Tom's solar return aphorisms. do with them as you see fit. 1) Not very year in your life is highly significant, therefore not every solar return will be significant. 2) Significance in the solar return is usually determined by repetition of things in the nativity. These repetitions "trigger" the potential of the natal chart. This is particularly true if the angles repeat, i.e. the natal angles are the same as the return angles. It is not necessary for all four angles to repeat. It is not necessary that the degrees are the same as the natal degrees, but the closer the return degrees are to the natal degrees, the more important the coming year. 3) Planetary returns that occur near the solar return are very important and indicate a significant year. Repetition of aspects even if the signs are different are important. A planet's return to the same house as it occupied in the nativity is important. 4) Reversal of natal configurations are important particularly the angles. Old texts will tell you that the reversal of angles indicate death or danger to life. I have not found that to be true in all cases. Reversals do seem to indicate upheaval of some kind during the year. Other reversals are aspect reversals, such as Jupiter in Scorpio sextile Venus in Libra in the nativity, and Venus in Scorpio square Jupiter in Libra in the return. Planets in the return opposite the houses or signs they occupy in the nativity are also important. 5) Try to tie together the meanings of the houses. MC in the nativity on the ASC in the return indicates honors (MC) coming to the native (ASC). It is highly doubtful that any one indication is all that you'll need to make an accurate prediction. First determine what the planet indicates in the nativity and then apply that to the return. The return triggers the nativity. If it is not in the nativity, the return cannot bring it about. The above is a bare bones outline of things to look for that I've found to be important. Take them for what they're worth Solar and lunar returns require a good deal of work.
