Hi thought I'd put some comments in a seperate thread. I'm intrigued looking at the April 1st 1979, Iran Republic proclamation chart (for 3PM IRD Tehran ,Campion chart 159).

Its noticeable that the Mars/Venus conjunction is conjunct the MC. I guess we can expect the "Star of Islam" - venus to be highlighted in this way, and it is the MC ruler. The sol/lunar eclipses of January were across the ASC-DESC axis of this chart too.

I notice looking at this 1979 chart that it has the Revolution chart signature of the Moon almost at right angles to the nodal axis and south of that axis. I see the Moon moving south of its nodes as revolutionary and moving north of its nodes as Evolutionary (I've posted on this before).

Its noticeable that with Mars and Mercury being in wide conjunct the South Node in the 1979 chart , and south of that axis (ie further on than the south node) that any interplay with this "Revolutionary signature" is likely to be a tumultuous. Transiting Uranus is currently conjunct this little south node grouping. The election itself concluded as the lunar transit crossed the 1979 chart DESC and has taken on a more turbulent phase with the lunar transit crossing the Node/Mars/Mercury grouping and its attendant transiting Uranus.

The transiting 10th House, newly energised Mercury is due to conjunct the radical chart's Gemini Moon . Mercury ruler of 11th in chart. This conjunction is this Friday. It looks to me as though other wings of the Iranian establishment are just about to ditch the incumbent President who they've conveniently bunged off on a foreign visit. Underlined by the revolutionary position of that radix Moon at the Southern bending of the Nodes, as mentioned above. THis is likely to be a turbulent week (not so much a prediction more a statement of the obvious!). I guess this is even more emphasised by Saturnian end of the transiting Uranus -Saturn opposition being conjunct the radix North Node. Ie its transit moving North of the axis underlining the authorities desire to keep a lid on things by keeping the status quo, ie firstly changing the election results and now..perhaps... trying to orchestrate some sort of partial transition (the opposition figures are part of that establishment).

It's also worth taking a look at the horoscope for the beginning of the Islamic revolution which led to the formation of the Republic.

This is considered by Iranians to have happened when Ayatollah Khomeini stepped off a plane at Teheran airport on February 1st 1979 at 9:33am. They celerate the event every february 1st by ringing bells at 9:33am. Campion's book mentions 9:00am, but this is presumably when the plane landed, rather than Khomeini touching Iran's soil.

Pluto is sitting on the Midheaven for that chart at 2Cp47, while transit Uranus is semisquare the Aquarian Sun.

The Islamic revolution in Iran has recently been through its Saturn Return (12Vi39), with Saturn heading on to the north lunar node at 19Vi34.

When it gets there it will be square Neptune in Sagittarius in the 9th house (!!!) (19Sg49).

At the end of 2010, Pluto transiting the 10th house will square the
Ascendant at 4Ar48.

At the same time, it will be semisquare Uranus (20Sc45). In January
2011 Pluto moves square the angular Moon at 7Ar02. In other words, around the end of next year Pluto will be 'picking up' the Moon-Uranus
sequiquadrate aspect in the chart.

Given the Moon is angular and in Aries (with Ascendant and Moon ruler
Mars conjunct the Sun in Aquarius), this would seem to be a very
potent indicator of potential transformation for both the people
(Moon) living in the Islamic Republic since the revolution, and the
nature of the State which arose as a consequence of the revolution.

The tone of the Moon in each horoscope is very different, which is interesting. The Republic's Moon is in Gemini in the 10th, but square Saturn in Virgo the 1st. It's only other aspect is to Venus in Pisces in the 7th (the Taurus MC ruler), which complete's a t-square by opposing Saturn.

This contrasts with an angular Moon on the Ascendant in Aries, which is sextile its ruler Mars' conjunction with the the Sun in Aquarius, trine Jupiter in Leo, and sesquiquadrate Uranus.

This says a lot about the difference between the fiery revolutionary and independent spirit of the people (Moon) during the revolution itself, and the more servile state of the people once the revolution had led to the formal creation of the Republic.

The combination of Uranus in transit to the Republic's Mars (ruler of the Aries Sun) with all the other activity in the Revolution chart mentioned above (especially Pluto conjunct MC) implies that what is happening on the ground is taking a life of its own, and is not just a post-election street fight.

It's interesting too that that elevated 10th house Moon in Gemini, despite the square from Saturn, is manifesting as the communications coming out of Iran and into the international arena through the use of the internet, and particularly text messages and facebook, the tools of youth. The older authorities don't seem to know how to deal with it effectively. Moon trumping Saturn for a change.

Today has indeed brought a vitally important Mercury event ie the threatening and uncompromising speech given by Khamenei. Sadly this speech almost seems to invitably doom Iran to needless bloodshed. Lets hope not.
