Is there a thread somewhere in the attic on Tarnas' book? - I'm betting it got some attention and I'd like to read the comments. Tarnas is not the most scintillating author but he does have an approach and I'd love to hear what others had to say.

You probably get no answer, because most people here are "traditional" astrologers. There seems (sadly) some prejudice to "psychological astrology"...

I suppose his formulation does fall in the realm of "modern" if not psychological astrology - and I am very much a fan of this forum and so apologize for the unintentional transgression of the space. Frawley in his discussion of Mundane astrology make a glancing reference to cycles of broad historical reach, as long as 430,000 (from memory) - I was curious if there was a counterpoint to Tarnas from that perspective - I tend to be too eclectic for my own good often.
