13 by pankajdubey Hi AquaStella, thanks for the answer. I was convinced that she will conceive but with the proviso that it will have complications. Sun increases my faith in the use of Almutens in horary is increasing but, it may be that the luminaries apllying to each other is really more good thing than I thought. Here, in this post are few of my other idiosyncratic observations : http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4032 PD Quote Thu Jun 25, 2009 1:03 pm
14 by Cornelia This seems like a good argument for keeping things simple. The considerations before judgment would seem to be a stronger indicator than some of the rare and obscure techniques people turn to for answers. Though children are described by the 5th house, the 4th makes more sense to me when the question is one of conception since that is more of a fertility/moon issue. And reading the chart that way without the distraction of knowing very much, it was possible to get a good answer. Quote Thu Jun 25, 2009 1:24 pm
15 by AquaStella Thank you , Matt , Aglaya, Pankaj and Cornelia for your feedback. As for your questions, Aglaya: Unfortunately I have no information as to how the pregnancy was experienced , whether there were any complications or difficulties. I never met the querent or spoke to her in person. The question, the judgement and all information concerning this horary was delivered by her co-worker. I was informed about the birth through an Email sent by her boss's secretary to her co-workers, and forwarded to my mailbox. The fact that Mars is lord of 1st and 5th houses was regarded as a testimony for pregnancy, connecting the querent and the child, as they were "one body" (as if lord 1 and lord 5 are exactly conjunct). Since traditional aphorisms for pregnancy do not consider the possibility of modern fertility treatments, maybe these aphorisms should be "upgraded". It might be that Virgo as a barren sign should be considered as a "technological" or "medical" sign", as natural infertility can now be overcome with technology. Quote Thu Jun 25, 2009 1:33 pm
16 by pankajdubey i had a brain wave. If this chart is converted to sidereal or whole sign house- then you have a perfect answer. Mars 1st lord applies to sextile of Jupiter- the 5th lord. PD Quote Thu Jun 25, 2009 3:52 pm

Great explanation! 18 by Leo-Poet Thanks for this, AquaStella: The fact that Mars is lord of 1st and 5th houses was regarded as a testimony for pregnancy, connecting the querent and the child, as they were "one body" (as if lord 1 and lord 5 are exactly conjunct). I found this explanation very helpful. I did this one off the thread. The answer I came up with was that the initial treatment failed, but then querent had a successful, second treatment in 9 months time. I was really unsure though, because I kept noticing the number 'nine' popping up. Jupiter at 9 degrees. 27 degrees rising--divisible by 9. Moon squares Venus in 9-ish degrees. So, I thought maybe she is pregnant now--but the thing that kept tripping me up was that Virgo Mars--an infortune in a barren sign on an angle, which would seem inauspicious for conception. But your explanation is great and very lucid. LP Allow yourself to be molded by your own talents. My pronouns are she, her, hers Quote Thu Jun 25, 2009 8:45 pm

But, in a way- the fact that the Querent gave birth to a healthy child 9 months later is a sign enough that the pregnancy was successful- and that the aspects and placement that some of us thought might be "harmful" were not as dangerous (luckily, of course) . Even if there were certain minor difficulties along the way. Thanks! Quote Thu Jun 25, 2009 9:11 pm

PD <cough> http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/viewtopic ... ght=#40859 <a> I thought you read it wrong because you didn't mention if you are using a different chart than that which was posted- a whole sign or a sidereal one !! In sidereal scorpio would be on ascendant and pisces on 5th with- similar house division. Have you consistently used whole sign houses or sidereal placements and what has been your experience ? 21 by Carol Since the question was: "Will I conceive soon?" (i.e., in the future), it seems to me the chart was correct in giving a "no" answer (no applying aspect between the main significators, Mars and Moon), since the pregnancy/conception had already happened. Also, IMHO, the applying sextile between Mars and Jupiter just shows the growth (Jup.) of the existing pregnancy (Mars). Further, it seems like the late Asc. (especially in a fertile sign) set the tone and confirmed that the conception had already taken place. Quote Fri Jun 26, 2009 2:49 pm

True, I should have been more clear, but yes, 'whole sign' is what I've been using for a couple of years now. Tropical as well. pankajdubey wrote: In sidereal scorpio would be on ascendant and pisces on 5th with- similar house division. Well, using the signs, Scorpio is the first while Pisces is the 5th, so it is a blessed coincidence. pankajdubey wrote: Have you consistently used whole sign houses or sidereal placements and what has been your experience ? PD For me, using the signs to mark the topics and using planetary movement (ala Masha'allah ) has made things much more clear for me then using some division or another and through it I've gotten many more things correct then not. Still, I am yet not immune to screwing up. I do have to agree with the authorities that the more serious and heartfelt the question is, the more clearly the answer will show itself (and the harder it is for the astrologer to make a fool of himself ).
