The few times I started a business without consulting an astrologer I was quite successful. The one time I ask and get negative feedback, it goes no where. But then I asked because I was unsure and not 100% behind the venture. The chart did point out the challenges I faced and I didn't have a plan to deal with those issues so I could see the business not going where I wanted it to. Of course, that does n't mean I will stop applying more jobs just because horary said I have no chance for the next 2 months. Consider though, when a chart says a job will come in 2 months with difficulty that may mean you have to pursue each and every opportunity. "I look at the chart like a river. You can see how the situation is flowing and the force of the current, but a client may choose whether to try to: (1) paddle upstream, (2) just sit back and go with the flow or (3) move actively in the direction of the current." I so dearly wanted it to turn out differently that I ignored it and told myself I could choose what i want to experience. Well, it was a hard lesson for me. I do believe in choice based living though rather than deterministic outcomes - but sometimes there is no wiggle room it seems and we will have to experience certain outcomes if we choose that path. Our choice, it seems, lies in the path we take not what will happen on that path. And if we are already on that path, we sometimes have to satisfy ourselves with rearranging deck chairs on the titanic, or peaceful acceptance of the situation. I am not sure if this perspective comforting or just plain depressing! LOL Quote Mon Aug 31, 2009 2:26 pm
15 by granny_skot I think I see this most often with love horoscopes, But I also think we ask these questions because we have some gut feeling something isn't quite right. But, at least you have warning to keep you on gard. as to the business horary. I wanted to ad, is it terrible that your partner, should find something that makes them happy? do well? and possibly they start doing it because they want to make you happy, but still, that also seems like a good thing. I'd relook at the chart and I'd also look at my business plans and have a good long ponder... Granny Quote Mon Aug 31, 2009 4:05 pm
16 by Olivia That's the thing I've tried to pound into diviners' heads for years - be it astrology, tarot, Lenormand, or anything else - happy people don't go to fortune tellers. And when we do horaries for ourselves it's usually because we have a feeling somewhere that something isn't quite right. But I, too, have gone against what a chart said - and lived to regret it very much. It really is like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. What I hate most to see is when somebody's got a pressing problem and it's all fixed signs - and you just KNOW that no matter how bad it gets, they'll stick with it til the bitter end. I do believe we have some choices, but free will - not so much - at least not after we've made the choice. Quote Mon Aug 31, 2009 7:18 pm

Frawley also said that when the ruler of the querent is combust, he will ignore the astrologer?s advice anyway. Never had a chance to prove this, but saw this happened one time. It should be remembered that horary is not some sort of 8 magic ball, or fortune cookie... horary works because it reflects your current reality. Either I am qualified or not. Either I have resources for opening my business or not. The horary will reflect it, and people can sometimes change things, but people have free will but seldom use it. Sometimes you don?t have any free will at all. If my mother is under medical care and the chart says she is gonna die, she will die (unless, as the ancients would say "god willing") because she is already receiving all possible care available. Nothing that anybody can do but pray. The problem with charts about will I pass the exam I did yesterday" or "if I'd enjoy the trip/vacation out of state we're going on tomorrow", is that, as Deb wrote, they are idle, as there is nothing more you can do about it. As in the example of "will this be a happy home", you have the duty to make your home a happy place, and what would you do if the chart says "no"? Not to move. In the example of the vacation, it could have been asked a long time before the actual trip, but it wasn?t suggesting that querent wouldn?t really do anything with the information. It should be remembered that horary show the reality of the situation and the querent is part of this reality. If querent is asking about a situation that he already made his mind upon, he is broking the "contract" of free will that horary represents, and that gives roots to the question. A rule of thumb would be to ask yourself "what could be the possible answers to this question? What would I do if the answer is not the one I want? Do I really want to know?". Sometimes just to asking this things you can reframe your horary question to something more useful or focused. Best regards I agree- we can always use our free will to decide whether we want to know in the first place. Of course- just like you're suggesting- it is still only a prognosis based upon certain natural influences and prognosis are usually not definite but , having said that- I realise that it is all actually about the "NO" charts actually, isn't it?! A "good" promise (or any promise> possibility) leaves us enough room to decide if we are going to use it at all(say- in situations where the chart says, more or less> yes, you can have it but you'd be better off without it!) but when there's no potential- nothing can happen. That is actually what people (all of us) are often not willing to accept, isn't it?! But, it does not have to be a verdict! That is why I often use meteorology as an example- if the weather forecast says that it'll rain tomorrow- it does not necessarily mean that I will get wet. Which is why I listen to the forecast in the first place. Or- I can choose not to - then I will not know what the weather will be like whch will allow me to look forward to a sunny day; but it will not prevent the rain from falling. I make no difference between the night&day or sea tides (just some of the things caused by the Earth's placement in our Solar system and directed by its "fellows" - other planets/satellites) and the influence of Saturn on our lives. After all- isn't Astrometeorology a great example? So, yes- we have to be prepared for the Abswer because it can only be helpful. Or we can decide not to ask it in the first place. But I agree with everyone that- we should always ask constructive, precise questions that can guide us through a situation rather then to just expect to hear a "yea" or a "no" and think that it will all sort out by itself- even if the chart does look promising, it's still us who need to use the promised potential. Otherwise- we will turn it into a NO chart ourselves. Quote Mon Aug 31, 2009 9:51 pm
19 by SunMachine hello peeps, I was willing to reply better to all the input here, but my internet connection has been horrid since saturday, I lost two thorough replies I wrote.... I feel like biting off a chunk of my table........ Well, I'll keep it short, the lady didn't rent the store for us, and we are back to scratch again. At least I can comfort myself with the knowledge that my horary skills are getting slightly better, for at least I could see the big fat NO WAY written all over the chart...... Granny, altho my husband's significator in the chart was better-looking than mine (hard to be uglier than Saturn in the 8th!!!!!!), he wasn't exactly well-positioned either. He was Sun, in the cusp of the 8th... blegh. Moon was applying a trine to him (but Moon was in detriment), and he was applying a sextile to Midheaven. But being in the 8th is ugly enough for me. If anyone wants to take a peak, the question was "will the shop go well"; I'd upload the chart, but with the state of my internet connection, it'll take forever.... Coordinates: 22 S 54 / 043 W 14; Day: 29 august 2009 Hour: 15:47. Ascendant Aquarius, Midheaven Scorpio. Mars in fall ruling Midheaven, how about that? Mars was trining Midheaven, so, not so horrid, but the whole situation seemed too feeble to even consider.... maybe there is a small promise in the amount of appplying trines and sextiles, particularly to my husband, but it seems there's a lot more to be done, and my position has to be a lot stronger than this. Anyways, we are already starting to plan and re-think the business again (and again, and again)... I'll heed the ideas expressed in this thread and shield myself all around in this venture, so that in the end I don't need a chart to give me confidence. Thanks everybody, it's lovely to talk to you. Big hugs!
20 by AquaStella NewsBreak A few days ago I ordered a new horary textbook from amazon. I expected to get it sometime next week. This morning I asked a horary: When will the book arrive. The fresh Aquarian Horary Moon L9 was in the horary 3rd house conjunct my natal Saturn lord natal H9-10 , applying trine horary Mercury L8,11 in H11. No way, I say, this chart is trying to cheat me (heheh, rising Scorpio ). A few minutes later I was walking by my snailmailbox and found that postcard asking me to come over to the local post office and collect the parcel. That should teach me to be one obstinate atheist and skeptic (Saturn in the 9th in Aqua). Quote Tue Sep 01, 2009 9:02 am
21 by aglaya Good for you! I had a case of "missing" mail a few months ago, I asked a Horary question and found one of the main significators combust. During the previous 3 days, I had found "3 yellow notes" left by our mailman informing me that there's mail waiting for me to pick it up from in the nearby post office. I only went once and, after realising that the summer catalogues had started arriving- i "knew" that other mail was catalogues as well. I thought it made sense as they're big and don't fit into my mailbox. The mail I was expecting, on the other hand- was tiny. After horurs of looking at the combustion in the chart- i realised that it did not necessarily need to be a bad sign- combustion is "blinded" as well. It turned out that one of the notifications was actually for the expected mail, not the catalogue - it was bigger than I expected, arrived the ame day as the catalogues AND- the mailman made a mistake and checked the "Newspapers/catalogues/books" box instead of the correct "Letters/small parcels" one. I picked it oup 2 hours before it was too late as they had already prepared the documentation to return it to the sender in the morning. My significator was applying to the L3- the mail was there only I didn't have it. Listening to what that chart has had to say was another good call. Quote Tue Sep 01, 2009 11:23 am
