Well, I think it was a difficult one to weigh up. I had my doubts about ManC being faves but all the bookies finally agreed that they were so I suppose it came down to one testimony each = draw.

Thanks for keeping me company here, Andrew. Predicting these games is a tough business but at least we had a bash at it.

Onwards and upwards.....

I have a few more thoughts on that game. Maybe it is because Mercury, LHr, disposing L1+L10 in Virgo, is a neutral shouting the loudest (exalted) and is stuck in the middle of the Saturn/Uranus opposition? Then apart from the angular infortune Mars on the IC, all other important significators seem to be cadent. Adding up, Mars was still not powerful enough to win. Mars was also tucked into that Saturn/Uranus sandwich.

Football predictions are for observing and exploring new ideas. I think the manner we weigh up the games can be very fascinating and an extremely good exercise. This understanding can be made useful to make progress in other fields of astrology.

I've had a couple of further thoughts about Saturn L10 trine Asc. Although the aspect was partile, it was separating. This was demonstrated by the fact that Villa were leading at half-time but were unable to hang on to the lead to the end of the game.

My other observation is that L10 trine Asc doesn't work as well as L1 trine MC or perhaps is less effective when the home team are the underdogs - enough for a draw but not a win.

Blackburn v Burnley, 1pm BST, Asc 20? 2' Sag

Blackburn are odds-on faves.

For Blackburn:
Hour-ruler is Mars so chart is radical by nature.
Moon conj MC (2?) - but is it less effective being VOC which often indicates a draw?

For Burnley:
Mercury L7 trine Part of Triumph.

While I'm tempted to go for Burnley, I'm not sure if that one testimony is sufficient for an away underdog to win. Perhaps a Draw No Bet might be the way to go since the odds are the same as for a straight draw.

Wigan v Man City, 4pm BST, Asc 12?39' Aquarius

Man City are odds-on faves.

Hour-ruler is Mercury so chart isn't radical.
Jupiter L10 conj POF.

I can see nothing for ManC. Can Wigan win this one? My one concern is that conjunctions to POF have sometimes let us down in the past, but Wigan do have home advantage. Again I think the Draw No Bet might be the safer option.

Thank your for setting up the charts, Ficinia.

Blackburn v Burnley
The first game seems a burn-burn affair, doesn't it?
How appropriate with the hour of Mars.

The MC is guarded by the Sun and the Moon. The Sun disposes the Lord of the Hour and has dignities in the ascendant by triplicity. Jupiter, lord of the asc, has dignities on the cusp of the 10th. These minor considerations do not always pay off in soccer considerations, but I think I would put my penny on Blackburn. Your arguement for the draw is fair. I have no experience with the Part of Triumph.

Wigan v Man City
Mercury, Lord of Hour, does aspect the Ascendant and is in reception with Saturn, so the chart finds a way even if there may be an impediment. Mercury is in the same sign as the Sun, Lord of the 7th. POF conjunct Jupiter is an excellent arguement for the favourites, so here I go with ManC.

Of the two games, I think a draw in the first game more likely than a suprize in the second. But then Mars is all clogged up after having been through his fall in Cancer. Upon entering Leo is like firing the system up again - and then what comes out? Mars is in the terms and face of Saturn. I will go with Blackburn. :'

As the lively match between Blackburn and Burnley is already in progress, I'll only comment on Wigan-Man City.

Nor can I for Wigan.

They have. Even the primary sig conj POF didn't work. Besides POF is separating frrm Jupiter here.

I'll go for Man City.

Thank you Andrew and Gem for your observations - even though you both disagree with me  I do tend to be overly optimistic about underdogs. With Blackburn 3-1 up at half-time I'm beginning to suspect the only little 'triumph' for Burnley will be that they've managed to score their first away goal!

You haven't mentioned any testimonies for them, so are you saying they'll win by default as odds-on faves?

Basically yes. The Moon in such a strong aspect with Mars (both at 0 degs and in partile) is likey to produce a definite result, I think, though in this case both are in cadent.

I agree! Because the Blackburn natal chart didn't look promising and the Moon's poorish condition, I was optimistic about Burnley too. Thought they could get a draw at least.

Blackburn 3 - 2 Burnley

Well done, Andrew :'

Wigan 1 - 1 Man City

ManC had a player sent off but Wigan were unable to capitalise on it. Oh well, at least I got my money back
