Horary for Gut feel

1
I am sorry if subject of my thread is a little misleading. I have developed a strong gut feel and it keeps bothering me time and again. I have a strange feeling of something going wrong (knots in stomach) but never can I identify what is going wrong. Is there any way I can use a horary chart to find out in advance what might be going wrong? Which houses or significators should I look for?

I normally get to know if it is a minor disturbance or a major mishap depending on the intensity but can never figure out what it is about until the event happens. I wish there is some way I can know in advance. Or in the worst case, I wish I never get any gut feel at all. It is quite disturbing to know some thing is wrong but not knowing what it is :(

Hope some one can help me in this.

Thanks
Mscool

Mscool - open-ended questions are more difficult, but they are a part of ALL divination. If you are the type of person who is sensitive to things that have not yet occurred, I don't see why you couldn't try a horary to help answer your question. I have asked open-ended questions before, and I basically look at my primary significator, the Moon and the planets that aspect them (their aspects, dignity and house placement - also what houses they rule, etc.) to get an idea about the situation. Horary is probably not the best tool for open-ended questions (I'd recommend something like tarot), but I have used it successfully in that manner.

Mscool:
A simple technique you could try is as follows:

-at the first moment of the "gut" feeling (or as close to it as possible) note the time and location

-erect a chart for that time and place (Astro.com, unless you have your own computer chart generating program)

-look at the Asc sign (for me I would look at the duodenary of the Asc, but let's keep this simple)

-now investigate the Sign the Asc degree is in-the qualities/meanings of the sign, the affinities ("rulerships") of that sign, etc; if in doing so something you read (some quality or affinity) "strikes" you, then this might be what you are "picking up on" via your "gut"

-suppose, however, after investigating the Asc sign you are left "cold"-you don't pick up on any "striking" qualities or affinities: then look at the Lord of the Asc ("ruling" planet of the Asc sign): investigate the meanings/affinities of this planet in the same way you did for the Asc sign; if something here "strikes" you as relevant to your "gut", then follow that lead

-if, however, you are still left "cold" after investigating the Asc sign Lord, then determine the planet which has its exaltation in the Asc sign: go ahead and check out the qualities and affinities of this planet to see if you find something "striking"
(Note: if no planet is exalted in the Asc sign you could begin the entire process over again, this time using the sign of the MC degree)

Since this technique is based upon pure intuitional ("gut") feelings it is very important to go with the sign or planetary quality or affinity which FIRST STRIKES you, to determine if this is what your "gut" feeling might be "resonant" with. Do not use intellectual or "rational" analysis with this technique because then it just won't work very well.

Wow, I loved these answers - and will tell you, mscool, that I too have the exact same type of looming gut feelings. They are always regarding negative things about to happen to me - life events and I know exactly what they'll be. It's very physical and sometimes I can't sleep, breathe properly and get stomach knots and pain in my chest. They have always been correct since I was a child.

Anyway, just great to see this question. It's good to know some of the tension can be relieved through horary.

What if this is a feeling that comes and goes. Can you "catch" one of them and still get an answer?

Yes, you catch the "feeling" and undertake the above described horary experiment IF you make note of the exact time the feeling "came on" (even if this feeling passed off before the chart is erected) However be aware that the greater the intensity of the initial feeling, the more relevant it is; also, that you must also get a noticeable flash or feeling (a "strike") from the quality or affinity of the sign or planet you look up as described in the technique above, and please remember that it is only the first "strike" (flash) you get that counts-applying a rational analysis to try to determine the "meaning" or resonance of the qualities/affinities you read about DOES NOT WORK with this special method.

Note: (I believe) rational, logical analytical work is what we should do in almost all other forms of natal, progressed, mundane, medical, katarchic and horary work: but not when we are applying this purely intuitional technique.

PS: I myself have never personally used this technique because I don't get the "gut" feelings mentioned. But I have taught several sensitives this method and I've seen it (and also heard about it) being effective (ie, yielding meaningful or relevant results) on many occasions with a number of them.

(PPS: just for the record-re: to some member comments regarding certain other postings of mine on Skyscript- in the case of this method I did NOT learn about it in an ancient book or from some "mysterious source": I "invented" this technique myself back in the 1990's)

Lilly actually has a section in matters of the first house on whether a sudden happening bodes well or ill for the native - that's worth taking a look at, too. It's not quite so intuitive, but it's been noticed before. And Sahl has a wonderful appendix (in the Holden translation) about decipheing dreams and/or visions.

Thanks so much for your responses.

Yes, I have tried to raise a chart when I had such gut feel. And I still have a chart I did almost an year back. At that time, my gut feel was so very strong, I almost had a chest pain with anxiety. It was during a break-up, but I could not decipher the chart. I am just attaching it, and would love to hear any comments.

I am not sure I can raise the chart for the exact time it started, but do you think it is relevant? When I feel the need for asking a question, I raise a horary chart - is n't that the way horary works?

Olivia, I will look up any sources on this. As Maxz said here, it is always about a negative event and never about anything positive about to happen. Moon was in first house when I raised the chart but I could not decipher what is so bad about the event (was that about the break up? I am not even sure about it).

PS: This is just as a learning experience how to read horary charts when I want to know about such a strong gut feel, hence it is a very old chart.

I am a little curious, did this technique worked if 'you' read the chart as an astrologer, or if the person who had the gut feel read it himself? I am asking because when I try to get any further intuition on such charts, I normally get lost in my mental analysis (prejudice) and fail to notice anything in the chart. It works better when some one else points out what I miss in the chart.

And strangely, whatever gut feel I get on a normal horary chart, usually turns out right but I am confused about 'gut feel' charts.

Mscool - if you are going through a hard time in your love life or career, these "gut feelings" are likely to be things that are just plaguing you (and I can certainly relate). Have you checked your transits? Most of us ARE going through a hard time right now, especially wherever the T-square transit is in their chart. That's probably the main reason there is an H1N1 virus rampant, and global economic crises, etc. I have had numerous friends have their cars stolen, been broken into, lose jobs, become ill (such as lupus), etc. It's just not a happy time astrologically, if you ask me.
