Africa Cup of Nations 2010

This is the 2nd time we're following this tournement. I seem to recall doing quite well with predictions last time. One of the most important tools was the Part of Fortune (POF). This is also because games are being played on neutral grounds in a tournement of this magnitude. The arranging nation, Angola, can probably be reckoned as playing on home ground. This tournement will unfortunately also be coloured by the tragic attack against the team of Toga, that killed 3 people and has caused them to withdraw their team from the tournement. Our thoughts go to the families of these fine atheletes and we hope that the tournement may be free from any further acts of terrorism.

Angola - Mali, 20:00 CST, Luanda 8S50, 13E14
Odds: 2,25 3,15 3,25
Asc 13LE18 MC 20TA51 Moon 0SG25 POF 23GE15 POS 3LI16
Day Sun, Hour Mars - radical by shared powers with sign and lord of asc
Mars, LHr, is also in the 1st house in in a mixed mr (mutual reception) with the Sun. Venus, L10, is cazimi and in the Heart of the Lord of the 1st house. They are trine the MC and are also in the degree of the Moon's North node. POF is in square Uranus, who may bear some significance to the 7th house. On 29 Dec 2009 there was a sextile between POF and Uranus, L7, in the game between Villa and Liverpool. It could have helped Liverpool to their 0-1 victory. Here the aspect is a sinister square cast through signs of short ascension, and the aspect is above the horizon. Does Mali benefit from this aspect or is it good for the favourite? I also included the Part of Spirit (POS) in this game, which is for the heros. In this chart POS is located with Saturn, L7.

There are some mixed signals here that need to be monitored, but following radicality and the testimonies of the lord of the 1st, I would say that the favourites Angola stand the best chance. The draw can be included if some safety is required. Radicality and testimony to the ruler of the 1st/10th will normally protect the favourites and I do not expect to see them overthrown.

It seems that the Togo players still want to take part in the tournament, despite what's happened, so we shall have to wait and see. Anyway I'm glad you started this thread, Andrew. It's another opportunity to test out the 'yes above, no below' method :) Sorting out the different team colours might prove a little problematic though.

Angola's home strip looks mainly red (Mars). Mali's away strip is white (Moon). Both planets below horizon but Mars soon crosses the Asc. I'll go for Angola to win. If Mali wear their home strip (green I think) they would be Venus, also below horizon, so same conclusion.

Part of Fortune
I notice in the Villa - Liverpool game I mentioned that I wasn't certain whether POF * Uranus offered Liverpool an advantage since they were favourites or because of Uranus co-rulership of the 7th. As far as POF is concerned these measures are according to favouritism, fortune or infortune.

My opinion is that POF square Uranus through signs of short ascension does not hinder the favourite, but could be a testimony for. So my judgement does again go in favour of Angola.

I'm with Angola as well.
The only suggestion I'd have for a draw would be Mali playing in green, with a mutual reception by term with Mars-but don't think this is sufficient

Angola - Mali 4-4 !!

That was probably the most stupid football match I've ever seen, and if it wasn't fixed I don't know what. Mali played like a gang of amateur milkmen on their way to the pub until there was about 10 minutes left, and then Angola turned round and let in 4 goals!

I think I've lost my interest for the tournement. I watched the match on television and listened to the Norwegian football commentator, an ex-high jumper, take it all in.

No - Mercury and Mars are retrograde and playing tricks. I am sure!! :x

I don't belieeeve it  With Angola 4-0 up, I thought we were home and dry!

Interestingly it was exactly this time two years ago that we suffered another plague of draws - during the time of the previous Africa Cup of Nations in fact! Jan 2008 Predictions

Mars and Saturn were both retrograde at the time.

I will give these players an Oscar, or an Amanda, which is the Norwegian equivalent. They made it look good - but this game was headless. Mali were strong, played toothless and let Angola run through them. I saw Mali give away two penalties in less than 10 minutes. The Mali keeper jumped (a sort of flop) the wrong way with the arms to his body. And then Angola returned the gesture.

4-4 at what odds?? Nonesense! :-sk

If this is what it is going to be like, we might as well predict the outfall of wrestling matches!

You know, actually I got it right because I said the draw was an option - but with Saturn conjunct the part of Spirit there were no heros. This feels like comedy!

Malawi v Algeria, 2.45pm local time, Luanda, Asc 29?25' Taurus
Odds: 7.00, 3.60, 1.50

Malawi in red - Mars below horizon. Algeria in either white or green - Moon or Venus, both above horizon. This indicates a win for Algeria, who are strong favourites anyway. The Moon crosses the Desc at half-time, so if Algeria wear white it will be interesting to see if they win the game in the 1st half. That's presuming they win of course. Let's hope we don't have a repeat of yesterday's fiasco!

10
Algeria are wearing green so my remarks about the Moon are irrelevant. Just as well since Malawi are 2-0 up at half-time! They certainly look the better side; Algeria seem rather lackadaisical and need to pull their socks up if they're to turn this game around in the 2nd half.

12
Well, it's 3-0 now so Malawi just have to score one more, then Algeria can score their 4. If not, then with these games being played in the southern hemisphere, perhaps we should read the charts upside-down, in which case they'd both make perfect sense
