Thanks Johannes, I'd thought it would have been impossible. The placements just looked a bit funny, like the dog that chased the cat that chased the mouse that scared/chased the dog :) .

Eddy,

only to complete your thought of a"three way reception": If we would broaden the theme of this thread and include exaltation and triplicity (according to Morin's teachings!), then there is mutual reception between all three lords of the trine of the same element. For example:
In the fiery signs all Lords of this trine or triplicity (according to Morin Mars, the Sun and Jupiter) are in mutual reception provided that all three planets are in the three signs of the triplicity. For example Jupiter in Aries, the Sun in Sagittarius and Mars in Leo.
But two planets in the exaltation of one of the triplicity rulers would work too. For example Jupiter and the Sun in Aries, Mars in Leo.
And even if the planets are in one single sign they form your "three way reception". Let Mars, the Sun and Jupiter be in aries. Mars receives the Sun and Jupiter in his (Mars) own house , Mars and Jupiter are received by the Sun in the Sun's exaltation and Jupiter receives the Sun and Mars in his, Jupiter's, triplicity.

Johannes

Speaking of Dignities, has anyone noticed the current positions of the 7 traditional planets today? Moon in Taurus, Saturn in Libra, Venus in Pisces (all in exaltation) Jupiter in Pisces (domicile) Mercury in Aquarius (triplicity) and Mars in Leo (triplicity according to Morin, comfortable according to others)? The only planet without dignity is the Sun.

Mercury in Aquarius (triplicity). . . "according to others" only tonight, Tom! :D

Re Lennon's chart... if you read the notes about verification of time at astro.com, 6:30pm looks dubious. I don't think that birth time could have produced someone SO famous, inspite of steven's excellent explanation. Where is the genius on the chart? Maybe it's in the Lennon/McCartney synastry or composite. But I guess that's a new thread?

The fact is the lord of the 10th is debilitated. And in the sign of the triplicity ruler's (the "get out" planet) detriment.

Olivia, is steven's explanation what you were thinking of?

PallasAthene, can you please explain this sentence to me? I'm lost a little. Thank you! :D

Thanks for this example. This is actually what I meant, but which I was also curious about if something similar would count in Lennon's case). Perhaps I was a bit careless in my terminology of a 'three way reception', because it indeed has nothing to do with the 'receiving' eachother of planets. I see from your last example that 'three way reception' interpreted traditionally has a totally different meaning.

This reminds me of the traditional definition of occidental vs. oriental position of Mercury and Venus on the forum a while ago. Since I'm much more familiar with contemporary astronomical terminology, I use the terms western elongation and eastern elongation. However, western elongation corresponds with oriental position and eastern elongation with occidental position. You can imagine the confusion it gave for a moment.

steven wrote: Mars already is one of the three planets naturally signifying ones profession and actions and it has a testimony in the 10th because of its triplicity on the Midheaven.

The mutual reception in this case is of benefit to both because Mercury happens to fall in a house cadent from the Ascendant but if it applies (this would need to be the case) to Mars in the Midheaven receiving it, Mars then "lifts and aids" Mercury because it does "render its light" to the ascendant from an optimal place. This would be a strength to the natives profession and his livelihood.
Johannes, Steven seems to be saying that mars is the planet responsible for Lennon's success. I'm having some trouble totally ignoring saturn.
