Hi Dr. H.

Well I guess that we'll have to have an investigating look at all three of them and draw our conclusions from each.

Yes I think we're close too eachother in our view on the widely interpretable subject of neo-liberalism. Indeed the excessive risk taking at the stock market, but also the privatisation (in many European countries) of national public services in the '90s, like railways and health-care. Obama's recent laws on obligatory health-insurance are an interesting example. I don't think of a return to nationalisation of companies but a synthesis to a more restrained market economy. The Hegelian view in the planetary cycles seem a logic and attractive one to me, it doesn't matter to me who developed these, Barbault or anyone else. I'd believe such a concept must have old roots, whether in astrology or politics.

Further Obama's recent alliance with China against Iran's nuclear developments would make Zoller's ideas of a 'sino-islamic' alliance quite unlikely, or if there was any, at least at present. http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE63B0PZ20100412

Interesting that you mention the anti-facebook backlash. Recently in the Netherlands a group of people has developed the 'suicide machine'. http://suicidemachine.org/ . People who leave Facebook the 'normal' way, still leave a profile. The suicide machine erases it all.

Also in Germany there has been a decision about the saving of data from phone-calls. http://randazza.wordpress.com/2010/03/0 ... error-law/
These laws were in the light of anti-terror. It seems that the war on terror was intensified to justify the introduction of laws that increasingly infringe privacy rights.

So possibly two developments in privacy. The wish of people not to have their privacy violated by private companies and a similar development in the relation to the gouvernement.

By the way Google also saves every data you search. If you google very often for 'Hell's Angels', 'motorcycles', 'ballet' and 'cat-food', Google will have your profile of possibly being a Hell's Angel who practices ballet and eats cat-food. More and more I use www.scroogle.org a service that searches Google via a proxy. However, how can we be sure if they are to be trusted?

In the Netherlands there are elections June the 9th. Job Cohen suddenly became candidate for the Dutch Labour party (PvdA). This is the same man who was in the Dutch gouvernment in 1998-2000. He made same-sex marriage possible, and in 2001 he became maire of Amsterdam where the first same-sex marriage was in 2001.

Perhaps this is the man who is going to save the Dutch labour party. His birth time is not sure but perhaps this is a possibility (according to the accompanying text). http://astrologie.blogo.nl/2010/03/16/h ... job-cohen/ MC is 24?32'Leo and thus close to the square to the 2000 Jupiter-Saturn conjuntion point. Natal North-Node is square to natal MC and conjunct to this JSC 2000 point. Often seen as a grey mouse and many times accused of 'softness' he definitely has proven to be a qualified administrator. I had a look at the (noon-) chart of the Dutch election day, but I don't manage to make a lot of sense out of it in relation to Cohen's natal.

His progressed Sun is opposite natal Uranus this year. When the Dutch gouvernement resigned recently the PvdA had losses in local elections in March. Soon after leader Wouter Bos retreated and Job Cohen came in place. A sudden and unexpected change, however the negociations might have been there for a while. Primary directed MC is in 29? Libra and Asc in 24?Sagittarius. Natal Uranus on PD Descendant and natal Sun sextile to PD Asc, provided birth time is correct.

Now I have wandered off the subject and I don't try to have all attention directed to the Dutch elections but perhaps this could be a little regional development in a bigger world picture.

Well the Jup/Sat opposition is now at exaction so how has it manifested itself - any ideas?
A few yes!
Certainly the UK Coalition seems in reasonably good health and the goodwill of the public seems to be broadly in favour of it. No sign of fighting on the streets just yet.
Keep in mind this topic is global in focus. Your narrow concentration on UK domestic politics is therefore a bit limited in scope.

Still even in the UK it could be argued the applying opposition reflected quite well the overall theme of the UK election with Jupiter (natural significator of wealth) opposed by Saturn which symbolises restriction and structure. The requirement to drastically restrict UK fiscal policy is the raison d'etre of the coalition government is it not? Equally, Jupiter has associations to the law and Saturn to institutions so the consitutional changes proposed could be seen as representing the applying opposition too.

However, we really need a much wider perspective. More globally the crisis in the Eurozone may be a sympton of the opposition with Uranus opposing Saturn recently added into the mix making things even more combustable. Maybe there are no riots in the streets in Britain but there have been in Greece! The contagion of debt ridden southern european ecomomies seems to have have affected many European Banks too. However, there appears insufficient funds for another massive 'bail out ' this time. We have also seen serious civil unrest break out in Thailand and Jamaica. Soldiers have had to be put on the streets of Bangkok and Kingston. In both countries there seems to themes of the government taking on what it sees as subsversive forces which have support amongst the poor.

Meanwhile the markets react to any International development. For example, the massive drop in share prices today on the back of the news that North Korea has severed diplomatic relations with South Korea.

So while you see things as very sanguine I see us as being precariously close to the collapse of the Euro which could very well precipate a second great depression. I passionately hope this will not come to pass but the very fact we have come this close is surely testament to the discernable influence of the Saturn-Jupiter opposition.

Another global theme I wonder about is the sexual abuse scandals in the Roman Catholic Church. Jupiter itself has associations to religion and terms of religious institutions the Roman Catholic is one of the most conservative. Saturn can be seen in its traditional malefic sense as a force opposing the positive expression of religious values (Jupiter in Pisces). Equally, Saturn could represent rising hostility against the church hierarchy. These scandals have roots going back decades and the news of these started to filter out over a decade ago. However, the issue seems to have reached something of a climax recently with the Pope himself in the firing line.

The ingress of the Uranus into Aries and Saturn back into Libra will be the next important development. Many national charts have the Sun or key chart point around 9-10 in a cardinal sign. One to definitely watch!

Hello Mark

I'm afraid I think that's a tad unfair and a little harsh. daz madrigal was just re-starting the thread and offering an example.

Previously in this same thread margherita and RegulusAstrology both posted something that was focused on just one country or person, not international or global, and you didn't say anything. It is a surprise to suddenly read someone being chided for it, and it puts me off posting (I read this section a lot).

Forgive me, but how many countries must be mentioned for it to meet the width and breadth requirements? :-T

Regards

H.

PS International posters having a joint discussion have already made the thread international in scope, yes?

Well your entitled to your view. I dont think my comments were either harsh or unfair. More generally, I will ignore the sarcastic tone in your response and attempt a reply.

I am keen to keep the focus on the wider trends which a JSO might imply. That seems within the spirit of the way the thread was created. Of course illustrative examples are ok. However, I think its relevant that daz madrigal and myself are UK based. I am anxious to prevent us getting too narrowly focused on just the UK. Especially, as we have have just devoted a couple of long threads to domestic UK politics!

Fundamentally, though this particular issue has some 'history' between this member and myself. In particular, daz madrigal and myself take widely differing lines on the implications of the Saturn-Jupiter opposition in the chart for Cameron assuming office & the UK coalition government. Thats not going to be transparent if you have only been following this thread.

Regarding previous contributions Regulus Astrology was only giving illustrative examples to fit into his wider theories. Margherita was basically picking up ideas mentioned by Regulus Astrology or Yuzuru. As for my lack of commentary in the thread that is because I have been very busy on other threads here. A cursory look at the whole mundane section will demonstrate what I mean. I would like to have contributed some comments earlier and still hope to as Regulus Astrology had made some extremely interesting comments.

Beyond this feedback have you any astrological thoughts yourself on this topic?

Mark

Thanks for your informative reply, Mark.

Would you agree that the forthcoming two conjunctions in Aries are even more hazardous to the Euro/Markets due to the more self interested influence of the sign?

Also do we have any firm prediction on the future of the Euro (its well beyond my skills!) as business astrology is not my forte but I seem to recall that Roy Gillet and a few others at AA were keen forecasters of the market.

Jup/Sat represents the Business Cycle ofcourse so probably wise to caution anyone from investing in stocks at the moment! :)

To be honest I dont think my opinion is worth all that much. I am certainly no authority on financial astrology. Members like Amelia or Yuzuru are vastly more competent to answer your question. However, its hard to believe these upcoming transits are not going to impact on the Euro (and several national charts). Moreover, we also have Pluto moving through a cardinal sign too. However, as we already have a thread on the Eurozone crisis I will not make any further comments here as its a bit outside the focus of the thread.

As I indicated Amelia and Yuzuru seem your best bet here. I think a lot of good financial astrologers have been predicting this crisis for literally years. For example, I recall Amelia mentioning this a few years ago here on Skyscript. She not only studies national charts but the charts for the currencies and key financial institutions.

Don't get me wrong, Barbault quotes many books, Morin's Astrologia Gallica included, but truth is the only prediction he did is the fall of Soviet Union. And this was not very difficult to do, even without astrology. How you can close behind a wall people who see from a cage another way of life as the Western one?
I just found this thread. I'm sorry I missed it. I don't know anything about Barbault, but I would not dismiss this prediction. After the USSR fell, it was common enough to say that it was inevitable and therefore no big deal. The fact is, for an inevitable result, few, if any other than Barbault, predicted it. What I recall is all the predictions of Soviet successes, and concepts like "peaceful co-existence," as well as other catch phrases designed to persuade people to accept the inevitability of Soviet dominance. Despite Harry Truman's "containment policy," the Soviet empire had spread through, Africa, Latin America, and Asia, and no one was telling the West that it would ultimately collapse. Perhaps some credit is due.

I dont want to diminish the efforts of people like Barbault. However, at least one writer with no astrological insight predicted the collapse of the Soviet Union long before this. In particular I want to make a plug for Andrei Amalrik's prophetic book 'Will the Soviet Union Survive Until 1984'

As a Russian dissident Amalrik was sentenced to 5 years in a Siberian gulag for publishing his pamphlet and later book predicting the downfall of the Soviet Union. Amalrik was eventually forced to take up exile in the west in 1976 and died in a car crash in Spain in 1980.

I remember seeing this book at University and rather scoffing as the date for the predicted collapse had already passed. I didn't realise the date was just a play on Orwell's book 1984. Amazingly, this book was first published in the West in 1970(!). The original Russian pamphlet dated back to 1969. A shame the author never lived to see his prediction vindicated.

http://spectator.org/archives/2010/02/1 ... ng-amalrik

However, Tom is quite right that the overwheliming majority of Soviet and International analysts didn't see this coming. I would be interested in learning what Barbault, based his prediction on and how he timed it.

Your history teacher is exactly correct. I'd like to know how he did it myself. I remember reading over and over again how Evangeline Adams predicted US involvement in WWII and considering she died in 1932 I was impressed. I was also seriously disappointed when I read the basis of the prediction although subsequent events may prove her to be more prophetic than I gave credit for.

She noted that Uranus was n Aquarius during the American Revolution and every time Uranus entered Aquarius the US became involved in a war. This wasn't the only time of war of course; WW I did not have Uranus in Aquarius, but nevertheless she predicted US entry into war in January 1942, if I recall correctly. Not bad. Japan attacked the US in December 1941 and the US declared war the following day.

Still I was hoping for more than just a transit. Where was Uranus when the war on terror started? Oh Aquarius Hmmmmmm

You mean Uranus in Gemini not Aquarius I think. Uranus was in Gemini during the Revolution, Civil war and WWII. Was it just a lucky speculation? There are lots of US wars that dont involve this. For example, The war of 1812, The Mexican-American war, The Spanish American War, WWI, Korean war, Vietnam war, Greneda, Lebanon, Somalia, Gulf War x2, Afghanistan war etc. Although the Revolution, Civil War and WWII probably represent the most titanic, existential, conflicts the USA has engaged in. Still, if prediction is that easy we clearly need to stop burning the midnight oil trying to work this stuff out and get out more often.

If we want to hedge our bets we better put the 25th of April 2026 in our diaries- the next ingress of Uranus into Gemini. :???:
