I thought some people might be interested in a few charts for the Uranus Ingress into Aries. It also brings up the topic of the applying Grand Cross in cardinal signs between Uranus, Saturn and Pluto.

I have put up three here for now. The first located for London, the second for Brussels and the third for Washington DC.

The London chart looks rather ominous with Uranus on the ASC and Pluto on the MC. There is a T square with Uranus , Saturn and Pluto. Jupiter separating from conjunction with Saturn is in an applying conjunction with Uranus joining the T Square. The ASC and MC ruler are in the 6th house while the Fortuna is opposing Uranus and close to Saturn. The full Moon is in the 9th house.

Equally, the Brussels chart has Pluto extremely close the MC.

The two charts certainly add extra significance to the upcoming aspects of Uranus to Jupiter by conjunction and of course the oppostion to Saturn. Hopefully these will give an early flavour of what to expect from the transit of Uranus through this sign. The UK chart inparticular indicates a worrying trend towards autocratism and civil unrest with Ur/Asc sq Pl/Mc.

One might have a look at the past UR-ingresses-
the last one and the one preceding it:

1844 - Kierkegaard definitely becoming existentialistic, the birth of modern existentialism in Copenhagen ...

1927 ...this impulse is reinforced 84 years later by Martin Heidegger's controversially debated book "Sein und Zeit" ("Time and being") - without any doubt one of the most influential books in 20th century philosophy. The impact of that book can hardly be overestimated - however, it was soon appreciated not only by people like sartre but also by Fascist thinking. Both an important and a dangerous book.

.. what also happened in 1927 - back to Copenhagen - hello, Kierkegaard: the publication of the so-called "Copenhagen-interpretation" - W.Heisenberg/N.Bohr presented their revolutionary concept of quantum physics.

A lot can be learned about Ur in ARIES when reflecting these events.
2010/11 - back to Copenhagen - who knows? :-)

What I find so irritating - if not scaring: UR in ARIES in the early Thirties was followed by the UR/PL-square... we know what happened in 1933/34 in Germany...
And I feel certain: as soon as UR will be in ARIES the impact of the forthcoming square will be felt.

Before focussing on events - so often of a futile nature ! - we ought to perceive what kind of ideas are being born at present. It does not necessarily have to be a new philosophy, of course...

I quite agree we need to look at the cultural influences in history every bit as much as jumping in to key socio-political developments. So scientific, philosophical and religious developments are just as important. Having said that we cannot ignore key political and econoomic developments associated with these outer planet influences either.

I dont think its controversial to state the two main socio-economic developments when Uranus was last in Aries ( 1927-1935) was the Great Depression and the rise of expansionist Nazism in Germany and Militarism in Japan. Still, I accept this kind of issue needs more in depth study through previous ingresses of a particular planet.

Maybe my take on this is idiosyncratic but I am not entirely convinced outer planets should be treated like the other planets. I state this both due to their extremely slow movement and invisibility. I am tempted to see them more like the fixed stars. For me they rule no signs or houses in a chart. Moreover, an outer planet like a fixed star may not change its essential nature through the zodiac. Regulus is still 'the heart of the Lion' and Antares still 'the heart of the Scorpion' even though they precess into different tropical signs. I am tempted to see the outers in the same way. Still, I haven't done enough definitive research in this area to have reached a firm view. I am open to being convinced otherwise.

The cycles that interest particularly interest me are the aspectual relationships between the planets. Thus I am interested in checking out what previous Uranus-Saturn oppositions or Uranus squares to Pluto have coincided with historically. For example Uranus last squared Pluto in the early 1930's. This ties into dramatic changes in political structures across the world to meet the economic crisis. For example Hitler coming to power in Germany, formation of a National government in Britain, The Miltary take over in Japan and the election of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the USA. In the Middle-East the Islamic fundamentalist Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was formed by Ibn Saud. In the Soviet Union there was a 2nd Five Year Plan accompanied by a famine. Finally, in South America there was the Chaco war between Bolivia & Paraguay.

We are also looking at an applying Saturn -Pluto square once Saturn goes direct again. The last time this occured (1993) we had a series of developments involving International governmental cooperation. For example the signing of the second Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) between the USA and Russia, in Europe the European Community became a political union under the Maastricht treaty while in the americas the North American Free Trade Agreement was signed.

There also seems a possible link to terrorist events with the World Trade Center bombing in New York , several attacks by the Unibomber across the USA and in England the IRA bombing at Warrington. This period also coincided with the Waco siege in Texas. The year also saw the 'Battle of Mogadishu': In an attempt to capture officials of warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid's organization in Mogadishu, Somalia, 18 US Army Rangers and about 2000 Somalis are killed. Moreover, in Russia there was a political crisis with President Yeltsin ordering tanks to storm the Russian parliament building.

I am also interested in the annual waxing /waning cycle these planets form to the Sun.

Let me add some observations I came across while studying that list.
The cycle of two planets can be likened to the solar/lunar-Cycle: New Moon, Half Moon - Full Moon - Half Moon / New Moon
The sign and the degree of the "New Moon" exert their influence throughout the whole cycle. E.g. the UR/PL conj. aroung 1850/51 - which triggered what was later called modernism. PL/UR - this is total modernism, and the conj. in 1850/51 was accompanied by the World Exhibition in London. Its major sight was the Crystal Palace- UR/PL = glass (!)
That conj. took place at about 28 degrees Aries. Little wonder it ruled a long era of terrible wars. When UR returned to that degree 84 years later the Nazis were about to secure their power.
The "Full Moon" of that conj. took place at the beginning of the 20th century. It marked the climax of imperialistic aggression. There were certainly clear references to modern art - cubism, abstract art, expressionism...In Germany it was followed by a policy of strength that led into disaster. A great number of Nazis were born with that Opp. - among them H.Himmler.
Not many people seem to have noticed that the start of the present financial crisis happened with SAt on the degree of the 1965/66 conj. of UR/PL. That degree is a most "explosive" one (sabian Symbol: A volcanic explosion !). The quality of that degree has exerted its influence ever since to a considerable degree. It is also activated when the corresponding "reflecting" (antisc.) degrees are contacted: 13/14 degrees ARIES / LIBRA. So I do think the forthcoming square will be closely linked to the mid-Sixties conjunction - which had a great impact on society and its values and rules (in China it started the so-called "Cultural Revolution")
I feel sure - within in a few years we won't be discussing metereological phenomena but problems of society and economy: currency, nutrition (VIRGO!) and - labour.
I think it is interesting that the 1965/66 conj. has been re-wakened by the fact that a number of politicians who were born then have come into power or are on their way to doing so - Cameron, Clegg... What will they soon be confronted with? Economy, labour, DEBTS, social crisis ... But this is certainly not limited to the UK.
UR/PL - this is an extremely strong combination. I'm afraid it can also be accompanied by extreme goals and measures (er.... this certainly does not refer to British politics - I'm not very familiar with that..)

Indeed. I suppose this approach is not that new as the the cycles of the planets in aspectual relations can be dated back to Abu Mashar on the Jupiter-Saturn cycle in history. However, in modern astrology this approach clearly has been influenced by Dane Rudhyar and his work on the lunation cycle. Unlike, some students of traditional astrology I do think this area is worth our time examining. However, I dont think we should lose sight of other crucial cycles that dont involve the outers such as Jupiter-Saturn, Saturn-Mars, Jupiter-Mars etc. I also think we need to keep in mind these planets relationship to the Sun ie oriental or occidental.

I can only agree. According to tradition when it comes to judge what's going on and what's in store the Great Conjunctions of JU/SAT should be given priority. And - once again with a view to tradition - of course, not only the latest one but the ones that rule it - the triple conj. of 1980/81 and the one of Dec. 18, 1603 - shift into the Fire-Cycle. A lot can be learned when looking at the one of 1603 - it is far from being "faded".
I've never accepted the satement that Uranus rules Aquarius, nor do I acknowledge Neptune or Pluto as essential rulers. This is partly due to my interest in Vedic astrology, but it is also based on experience.

The last time Uranus was on this degree women in the UK were given equal voting rights to men when women aged 21 and over finally got the vote. Its hard to imagine anything of an equally liberating nature occuring right now and despite her many qualites it seems safe to rule out any notion of Diane Abbot ascending to the heady heights of new UK Labour leader but some liberation would be welcome in Afghanistan for example. Unfortunately any emerging liberation, of whatever hue, will have to be fought against the backdrop of the square to controlling Pluto.

Also in April 1927 a demonstation of mechanical television was viewed for the first time by a group of scientists and the company CBS was born and soon broadcasting around the USA with 47 radio stations.

Interesting point. Yes the collapse of Lehman Brothers Bank in the USA in September 2008 that precipitated the meltdown did happen then. However, the roots go much further back. I still maintain comets were the major indicators of this recession. However, thats another topic.

I confess I dont have a lot of respect for Sabian symbols as a technique but each to their own. That and the excessive use of Chiron are my two pet hates in modern astrology.

Indeed. Its seems to have greatly accelerated the decline of Christinanity, in Europe and the emergence of numerous movements such as feminism, civil rights, gay rights , ecology etc. However, I do think we need to see this in the context of previous Uranus-Pluto squares too. The full impact will probably not be felt until 2012 onwards when Uranus perfects the square.

Who says we are not already? I'm sure its taking up a sizeable proportion of the time of leaders like Angela Merkel, David Cameron and Barack Obama. As astrologers though I agree many of us have been a bit slow on this.

As for nutrition/diet thats been a theme for a long time I think. I believe we are not moving into an 'Age of Aquarius' at all but rather an epoch dominated by Virgo themes. Thats tied to the movement of the Fixed star Regulus into Virgo in 2012.

I think we are seeing very strong drastic measures being taken across much of Europe , including the UK. The new UK coalition government just announced ?6 billion cuts for the rest of this year as part of an emergency budget. However, this looks like nothing compared to the massive cuts projected year on year from now on.

I would also associate this too with the effects of the Saturn-Uranus opposition recently. I am quite interested in this theme around the resonating effects of the Pluto-Uranus conjunction. Not least as I have this in my natal chart!
