Just realised the chart I have been looking at for the Final here is in the winter dark so they are playing with floodlights. I suppose that is for viewing figues on the TV. Does the listed start time just relate to the kick off or does it include the national anthems etc at the beginning?

I'm newcomer in this site. Andrew, your horary has a strong Argentian sentiment. Well, it's South America's turn to win according to the pattern dating from 1962, but can the pattern be broken this time? The Jupiter/Uranus conjunction was mentioned earlier and it's on the MC in western Brazil and Argentina.

Re the eclipse, I did say that it might be significant for Chile and Argentina and now Mark has mentioned it too, but what kind of prediction can we make from it? Is it a good or a bad thing? Argentina are third favourites. Could it mean that they are the beaten finalists or even that they are not 'seen' (blotted out by eclipse) in the final at all?

I've had a look at a few match charts. Presuming the top 8 reach the quarter-finals, the only possible upset I can see is Germany beating Argentina at this stage. This opens up the possibility of an England/Germany final (odds 33/1)

Amelia, Andrew and I have all suggested Portugal as one of the finalists which means they must beat Spain in the knock-outs - unlikely. Alternatively, Amelia and Andrew have suggested that Portugal come top of their group above Brazil, in which case they would have an easier route to the final. Having looked at all Group G match charts I think Brazil should win all their games although there's an outside chance that Portugal will get a draw against them. I'd had great hopes of Ivory Coast doing well but the injury to Drogba is a big blow. Hopefully he will still play. The key game is Portugal v IC and the chart indicates to me that IC can get at least a draw, if not a win.

I am certainly up for the challenge. Rather than piggy back on Andrew's horary though I am going to use another method to announce what I think will be the likeliest winner. This is a bit cheeky I know but I dont suppose any of you have recorded the kick off times from previous world cups have you? I wanted to especially , focus on World cup final charts.

Its always tricky with eclipses isn't it? Certainly, being defeated in the final would fit the astrology well. Can you imagine the state of national mourning that would result? Although winning would galvanize the whole nation in an equally dramatic way. I am not sure if we can determine an ultimate success or failure from the eclipse. I just see it as a cosmic finger of fate pointing to Argentina as one to especially watch this championship.

No I dont subscribe to the sour grapes outlook that an English defeat is a Scottish victory by default. Thats a bit pathetic. I do want England to do really well. I would love to see them progress to the final. I will be supporting them. I felt the pain of those penalty shoot out losses they have had in the past. They really deserve some luck for once.

However, my 'default' team is always Brazil. I just love their style of play and pretty much everything about them. So a Brazil vs England final would be a real clash of loyalties for me. Things are so grim right now a World cup win would be great for the whole UK. That doesn't mean I see it happening though.

Glad to hear you will be supporting England. If they do play Brazil, then I think they are more likely to meet in the semis. I admit to being biased but I believe England have the players to win if only they can manage to get their act together as a team. We shall soon find out. Not long to go now

I know this isn't astrology (or even relevant in any way) but want to share the fact that I had a vivid dream a couple of weeks ago that England won the Eurovision song contest. I knew it couldn't mean that was going to happen (as if) so I jiggled around with the dream, as we must, and realised it was a prophecy that England will win the world cup!

Its either that, or I just needed to invert the dream to realise that England would not win the Eurovision song contest, again.

Maybe it was just dream-dribble ... it was very vivid but it's all in the ether isn't it? I don't think anyone can make a cool astrological prediction, even now; the madness has already begun. Yesterday I needed to buy a wheelbarrow but the only ones that B&Q had in stock had the England flag painted across them. I can't bear it - I refuse to be swept up by such enforsed commercial enthusiam. Why am I even writing this ...?

The Solar eclipse on 11 July 2010 occurs at 19CN25. OK - check out the Astro*Cartography map for the initiating eclipse of the Saros 12S-series that occurred on 31.aug 1541. Mercury (Brazil?) is on the upper meridian of Cape Town, whilest Neptune (Portugal?) is not far from the lower midheaven of Johannesburg.
Then TAKE A LOOK at this initiating eclipse when cast for Johannesburg !
The descendant of this chart is located at 19CN33.
My point being that the total solar eclipse of 11. July 2010 occurs at 19CN25!

Saturn is lord of the ascendant in this chart, exalted in the 10th house in Libra (!) Turning to the Astrocarto*Graphy chart - this Saturn is rising in Brazil, although Libra may be a representation and fortification of Argentina. However, I stick with Brazil who I believe will be contesting either Argentina or Portugal.
