Financial Astrology Blog

Hello All,

Recently, on another Skyscript thread , Amelia, one of our regular members very generously offered the link to her blog on financial astrology-Fortuna 2020. This includes many predictions on financial markets and economies around the world. I realy admire this kind of up front predictive astrology.

However, I feel this got rather buried in that thread so I wanted to highlight Amelia's work more prominently so other members could benefit from her research. Amelia uses a combination of national charts, as well as charts for currencies, and financial institutions. She also looks at planetary cycles and ingresses.

Here is the link: http://fortuna2020.blogspot.com/

If members have any other suggestions on any other useful resources on financial astrology please share them.

Thanks

Mark

Hello daz madrigal,

I haven't studied Brazilian affairs much and I am away from home just now. Its interesting that on her blog Amelia concedes this was one of her few failures predictively as she didn't anticipate this boom. One of a small minority of 'misses' amongst a cluster of 'hits' I may add! In some cases its easier to explain countries escaping recession. Australia for example avoided going into technical recession. Its interconnection to China and East Asian markets probably explains that case. As for Brazil no idea. Maybe Yuzuru has a theory?

Astrologically there are two approaches you could adopt here. Either do an Aries Ingress chart for Brazil centerd on its capital Brasilia or look at a national chart.

Like many countries there are a few competing charts that could be used. Some members here who are very traditional have suggested national charts are not really a valid approach due to differing charts proposed and sometimes ambiguous data. The numerous competing charts for the USA is the prime example but there any many others. Moreover, some people have a philosophical objection to the idea of a 'birth chart' for a country. Its pointed out that nations are more of an unfolding process than a single event. I am pointing all this out although I personally still think national charts are very useful despite their deficiencies. With ingress charts we have the problem that countries in close proximity have almost identical charts. Still, at least you know an Ingress chart always has the correct data!

There was a thread on the chart for Brazil last year. I would provide a link but it rather rambles on theoretically into the kind of issues raised above. So to the data! I dont claim this covers all possibilities but there are two charts you might look at.

Modern Brazil (ie, the beginning of the political state we call Brazil) may be said to have occured when the Portugese explorer Cabral first set foot upon the land, claiming it for Portugal. This was on the 22nd of April, 1500 at the location now known as Porto Seguro (16 degrees 26 minutes South 39 degrees 05 minutes West) This is the equivalent of Captain Cook's landing in Australia at Botany Bay, in 1788 and claiming the land for Great Britain Of course indigenous people had inhabited both Braziil and Australia for millemia before this. Still it did set in train a series of events that led to the formation of the modern social and political entities we regard as Brazil and Australia respectively today.

In addition to Cabral chart, Nicholas Campion in his Book of World Horoscopes, gives a chart for Brazil's independence from Portugal, September 7, 1822 between 4 and 5 PM LMT. Campion gives a chart set for 4:30 PM and claims that many Brazilian astrologers use one set for 4:47 PM LMT.

Good luck!

Oh, gosh
I haven?t studied anything about it, but the cynical in me would first ask if there is really such a boom or is just a fashionable interest that rose in the international media. I don?t live in Brasil, but last time I was there it all seemed kind of the same to me.

I would like to note that the ancients did use the ingress charts of the beginning of a dynasty, religion, etc, and would use it to compare with future ingresses, the progressions, etc.

I don?t use the usual "birth charts" at all, so I don?t have any special likes or dislikes on the comments below:
Modern Brazil (ie, the beginning of the political state we call Brazil) may be said to have occured when the Portugese explorer Cabral first set foot upon the land, claiming it for Portugal
The time of 1500 should be considered as A, but very very imprecise. Documentation only states clearly that the first view of land was before sunset. To use this chart would be similar to use the time the Mayflower saw land for the first time. The difference is that colonization only began 30 years after Cabral. The country wasn?t even named Brasil yet.
This chart should probably be considered a "C". It is heavily based on speculation on the time in which D. Pedro "declared independence" from Portugal. Of course no one was timing it. The time that Campion gives is most likely product of rectification and we all know how well astrologers do rectificate. There are almost as many versions of the "correct time" as there are versions of the U.S. July 4th signature.

It should be noted that this date of September 7th was historically constructed as the "independence day" because it happened in the south of the country, the richest part, and the victory over portugal happened in the poor region of the country, in the north.

If any traditional astrologers are interested, I suggest the ingress chart of 1889 as the beginning of the new dynasty (republic) after the collapse of the Imperial power as this was the time when the first ruler took power. The capital was Rio de Janeiro at that time.

Thank Yuzuru,

Very interesting comments on the problems attached to national charts! Fortunately, though some are very precisely timed.

Following the same logic Ben Dykes has suggested the Aries Ingress of 1789 as the effective date for the founding of the USA in its modern political sense.
There are only a few known electional charts for cities, as for example that of the founding of Baghdad. Otherwise, we use the Aries ingress chart prior to the date the government is complete and the king ascends the throne. So for instance, the chart for the United States of America is not July 4, 1776, since there was not even a complete government or true nation to speak of at that time. The interim Articles of Confederation had yet to be thought of. The USA chart is the Aries ingress for 1789, the year of Washington?s inaugural. The same goes for changes in dynasties and forms of government: ingress charts for Baghdad show both the fall of the monarchy and the fall of Saddam Hussein, even though they are not cast like electional charts for the moment of an oath of office or the signing of a document.
Unfortunately, its not as straightforward for every country. There seem to be several historical dates that could be proposed for Great Britain. :???:

Thanks tvbm

I see a lot of his books are still available. His methods seem a complex fusion of astrology, geometry and mathematics. Was he the first financial astrologer to put his ideas into print?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Delbert_Gann

W.D.Gann seems more suitable for quite advanced students. Any books people might recommend aimed at more of a beginner or intermediate level in financial astrology?

regards

Hi MarkC

According to my information, W. D. Gann used to be the trader, who was also interested in astrology. I got this source from my teachers (= local professional astrologers) several years ago.

Good luck in your studies related to financial astrology.
