Pleased to see you have been experimenting with my alternative method of allocating significators. I've been using it throughout this World Cup and it's been fairly successful (or as 'successful' as any other method anyway!). Seems to work best when teams are wearing one colour; more difficult with mixed colours, so I was interested to read that you allocated Germany's white/black to Saturn. Was this based on the idea that Saturn removes colour? I wasn't sure whether to allocate them the Moon (white shirts) or possibly Mercury (two 'colours').

My first thougt was to choose Moon as Germany's significator. Moon was in Capricorn making the mix of white and black. Moon is in detriment, peregrine, therefore I looked for Saturn as her dispositor. He is in Virgo with his dispositor Mercury in Cancer. So we have a nice triple reception by house. Black Saturn, white Moon and Mercury as mix of both.

Saturn rules not only dark colours but also modest, plain, cold, depressive and like colours, it is a significator of contentment, routine, flatness, discipline. It is true that Saturn removes colour like it robes anyone of pleasure. White and black is the commonest colours and so akin to Saturn. A dark (black) suit and white shirt for a clerk perfectly fits to Saturn's nature.

Anyway, even if we use the Moon or even Mercury as Germany's significator, we, taking into account the triple reception, should get the same result.

I personally think this result underlines the importance of not putting all your eggs in one basket astrologically. I am not familiar enough ( or convinced enough) by the colours or favourites system being tried here. However, I did take a look at the 1066 chart against the likely finish time. That convinced me England were were likely to lose quite dramatically. I hate to confess this Ficina but I put a sizeable bet on England losing yesterday. I hope you dont regard me as a traitor.

Now I am not posting here to try and say I had it all worked out after the event. That is pure narcicissim and totally pointless at this stage.

However, I do think when you have a fairly reliable national chart like the 1066 chart it is likely to pick up such things up like this. I just wanted to show how accurate it was as an indicator of the result.

I am therefore displaying two biwheels. Both have the 1066 chart in the middle. The first biwheel has the 1966 world cup finish time transits while the second biwheel does the same for 2010 game.

Interestingly, The Moon was in Capricorn in both the 1966 and 2010 games separated by just a few degrees. However, The Tr Moon was conjunct the 1066 Mercury in 1966 chart and trine the 1066 Saturn (MC ruler). Tr Venus was conjunct the 1066 Part of Fortune. Venus, Mars and Jupiter in plactic trine to 1066 Moon. Jupiter was squaring the 1066 Ascendant. The Tr MC was close to the 1066 Jupiter. Tr Saturn was in partile conjunction to 1066 Moon. Tr Pluto on 1066 Saturn and Tr Uranus on 1066 North Node.

The main thing that hit me about the 2010 chart was that Tr Saturn was in the exact opposition to the Saturn position in 1966 putting it in partile opposition to the 1066 Moon. That to me was clear testimony to indicate England could never win or even meet minimal public expectations during this World cup. Also unlike the the 1966 Moon this one had passed all the key hits such as the conjunction to the 1066 Sun or trine to the 1066 Saturn. The event chart Jupiter was in the 12th house of the 1066 chart and squaring its Sun. Tr Uranus was close to the 1066 Moon. Moreover, the South Node was on the 1066 Part of Fortune. The Moon was making no conjunctions and was in square to the event chart ascendant.

Thanks, but I really must give credit to Goca for originally introducing the idea of using kit colours in these game analyses We all have our own preferences but I think everyone's methods are worth testing out. It's the only way we can find out what works and what doesn't.

While I am currently on vacation in Denmark I cannot/do not intend to comment the current developments in an astrological fashion, but I am looking forward to the quarter final between Urauguay and Ghana. Uruguay is of course the team that Goca pointed out as responding to a 60 year cycle (if I recall it correctly) and Ghana is a team that I initially pointed out as an outsider worth keeping an eye on. Not that I think Ghana has the potential of going all the way, but their present success is great for the World Cup tournament as a whole.

My position regarding the tournement remains unchanged. The problem with astrological predictions of this kind is that they actually leaves the astrologer powerless (in comparison to situations where foreknowledge may mean a difference). It is a situation of just connecting and then being a 'victim to the flow'. Everything that happens in between is just disturbance. In this case it is very similar to dealing with the stock market; the events of he single days are just variations and disturbance in terms of the total picture.

It's most important not to be absorbed by subjective (let alone national) emotions when dealing with matters like these. Neither hopes nor fears are helpful when trying to get to a realistic view.
And it's always nice to see the same results on different levels. The 1066 chart indeed has a lot to say.. and certainly not only with regard to football.
I'll have a closer look at that one!

It's always worth while having a look at the pre-natal New Moon - it is at 3:57 Capricorn (Dec 19th, 1066). AC at 29 Gemini - that means Pluto tr. SU/MO (quite exact) at present and SAT /UR square AC/DC. And it's SAT square UR (UR being conj DC).
One should not overemphasize the importance of those prenatal NMs, but transits concerning the axes and the degree of the NM should always be taken into account.

Now this is intriguing.
Uruguay has Mercury at 28 Virgo.
Ghana has Jupiter at 28 Virgo and Pluto at 28 Leo.
Transiting Saturn is at 28 Virgo and transiting Neptune is at 28 Aquarius.

Shortly after this, Saturn moves to 29 Virgo where he aspects the FIFA chart. Sun at 29 Taurus. Uranus at 29 Sagittarius. Chiron at 29 Capricorn.

This is an astrological short story waiting to be written (the game starts in a few hours) and seems part of a veritable trilogy. And...The original Jules Rimet trophy went to Uruguay in the first World Cup all those decades ago. Destiny is coming full circle for FIFA.

I would be fascinated to hear predictions, both from traditional and modern astrologers! The game starts in a few hours and the kettle will be on!
