New chart challenge - predict the weather 1 by Deb Something to think about for when the world cup is over. There is a great weather cam on this page, which shows a view of the famous ?astrological clock? at prague. http://www.earthcam.com/czechrepublic/prague/ At the moment I can see the Sun is shining brightly. But what do you think the weather in Prague will be like at 4:30 pm on 30 July 2010? At that time Mars will be joining Saturn in the 1st degree of Libra and culminating, with Uranus and Jupiter in opposition at 3.19 Aries (retrograde), and the Moon coming in to join them at 27 Pisces. Will this be another sunny day, typical of July, a heatwave, or a sudden storm? I?d like to see how good we are at predicting weather in advance for a specific location, and what techniques would be used. The astrologer who does best will win a trip to Prague* Deb (*Only via the webcam of course - we?re not made of money here!). Quote Wed Jun 30, 2010 2:03 pm
2 by Lunlumo Dry, hot - and lasting. Temperatures up to 30 degrees, maybe even more. Not quite so warm in Western Europe. Rainfalls at times, but short and usually only within thunderstorms which will bring strong gusts of winds. Regards LL Quote Wed Jun 30, 2010 2:18 pm

I would therefore be interested in the astrological reasoning behind your comments. I assume Mars in the MC is for the dry, hot comment. Saturn would temper the heat and makes it a bit cooler no? Both planets are dry though. Jupiter opposing the Mars-Saturn conjunction is the ascendant ruler and warm and moist. Unless of course these are average weather conditions for that time of year in Prague! 4 by Deb Thanks LL, for kicking us off. Like Mark, I think it should be necessary for contributors to explain their reasoning and technique. Also, my expectation was that the webcam would be checked at the specific time mentioned - so that anyone can observe the result via the web. So even if the day or week is very hot, I'm really interested to see what that weather cam will show at that specific time. (Will it cloud over, for example, at the time that the malefics culminate?) I personally think we need to look at the previous lunation at least, although I haven't done this myself yet. Quote Wed Jun 30, 2010 2:51 pm
5 by granny_skot without looking at the chart in relation to Prague, I would say Mars being hot and dry and a bit passionate (energetic) , Saturn being cold and dry and exalted in Libra(air) and aligned with mars, I can understand the Hot dryer than usual thought on the weather, but when hot and cold meet you get condensations, so with the Moon in Pisces(water water everywhere) and approaching Uranus(Chaos) and Jupiter (Thor, thunder, etc) in Aries(mars home) in Opposition to Saturn and Mars, I would not be the least bit surprised by a heavy humid freak lightning storm, and some power issues (power issues because of the Mars Uranus oppositions and Uranus Jupiter alignment) with the Saturn Jupiter opposition being the bigger alignment I think. But I would also think it need be in relation to the place, because same alignment where I am I think will just make more overcast skies. Coldest summer I remember in many, many years. is there a founding chart for Prague? Quote Wed Jun 30, 2010 8:01 pm
6 by Mark It occurs to me that many people will feel a bit lost when it comes to astrological weather prediction. So that as many people can participate as possible I have therefore pulled together some resources for people to follow up. First of all here is an introduction to the subject of Astrometeorology by Kim Farnell http://www.skyscript.co.uk/meteorology1.html Another article by Kim examining the history of the subject: http://www.kimfarnell.co.uk/weather1.htm Some further articles looking on the history of astrological weather prediction: http://www.hps.cam.ac.uk/starry/weather.html http://www.hps.cam.ac.uk/starry/keplerweather.html For those of you interested in traditional astrology a highly recommended title is the book by David Hernandez. Its entitled Astrometeorology: A Collection of Traditional Methods of Judging and Forecasting Weather and is sold as an ebook. David Hernandez can be reached at david@astrologiaholistica.com. Carolyn Egan has an online class in weather astrology at http://www.weathersage.com/. Carolyn has a page on her website with recommeded reading list on the subject: http://www.weathersage.com/books.htm Perigree -Apogee dates for the Moon. http://www.weathersage.com/resources/index.htm A summary of all the astrological techniques used to predict weather since the 17th century: http://www.weathersage.com/techniques.htm Nina Gryphon has done several weather forecasts on her blog http://gryphonastrology.com/blog/catego ... forecasts/ I understand David Hernandez and Nina Gryphon both took Carolyn's course. Another site doing weather forecasting with astrology: The Weather Alternative http://theweatheralternative.blogspot.com/ Many traditional texts discuss weather prediction. For example Claudius Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos and Guido Bonatti's Book of Astronomy. Here is a link to an online translation of Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos: http://penelope.uchicago.edu/Thayer/E/R ... /home.html Mark Last edited by Mark on Thu Jul 01, 2010 11:52 am, edited 1 time in total. 7 by PFN Not very experienced here, and with no time to read the usefull arcticles proposed, so I'll just try it (since it's weather, a miss can not be that much of bother can it?). Well, Mars and Saturn culminates, both extreme. So those two will give the tone. Jupiter is hidden in the angle of the earth, and the Moon approaches him, so their preponderance is weaker, and they are actually subject to the culminating planets. Aries is hot and dry, Mars is dry, Saturn is dry, Libra is hot. So my guess is that it will be hot and with very little moisture, and rain is to be expected only when Venus enters Libra and opposes Jupiter, but not on the 30th of July. So, it will be sunny and hot, no heavy clouds, no rain, no lightining. Last edited by PFN on Wed Jul 07, 2010 1:00 am, edited 1 time in total. Paulo Felipe Noronha Quote Wed Jun 30, 2010 9:28 pm
8 by Lunlumo Sorry Deb for not really sticking to the rules... According to what I have experienced it is quite difficult to find out what the weather will be like on a special day. As a rule the cardinal solar ingresses should be heeded: Sun into Cancer/Prague: AC around 4 degrees Libra, IC conj Pluto Capricorn. I think the PL-UR-square - which will be of tremendous importance over the forthcoming years - is already exerting its influence. This might mean that the summer 2010 will be dry but on the whole not too warm - however, there will be more thunderstorms than usual. SAT in summer does not necessarily mean it's cool - unless it is in Aqarius (which may also mean heavy rainfalls, even terrific ones). July 30th: SAT conj MA - Sat "stabilizing MA - i.e. it will be warm and dry for at least some days - as long as the conj. will last. Priority should be given to AC and IC - UR conj IC opp. Mars/Mc might be a strong indicator for a sudden "blow" - both intense, even really aggressive and short. Lots of storms show MA in close aspect to UR. Another hint: VE, ruling house 11 is at 22 degrees Virgo - a degreee implying Uranian quality - to be more precise: 22 Virgo = SUN/ UR. MAR/UR - is usually accompanied by a strong wind, even gusts of wind - at times even by serious storms, if not tornadoes. VE, being the ruler of MA/SAT at 22 Virgo seems to underline that. Moon is approaching Aries, already opposing MA/SAT - but still in Pisces - however antisc. JU : All in all: I can imagine a sudden storm accompanied by a heavy (short) rainfall following a more or less hot day. The solar ingress into Cancer on the basis of "day by day" sec.progressions yields AC on the first degree of Scorpio, thus strenghtening Pluto/UR/JU. One might also take into account SAT's ingress into Libra - that'll be on July 21st - with SAT conj MC and UR/JUP conj IC. AC round 5 degrees SAG conj Moon. So quite a lot of Deb's chart is given here in advance. (Hope I'm right - being wrong, however, would be less significant than losing my bets on Germany - Argentina - insert whatever emoticon might be suitable... / Whatever may have gone wrong here is due to the deficiencies in my command of English . :-) ) Regards, LL Quote Wed Jun 30, 2010 10:04 pm
9 by yuzuru To tell you the truth Deb, I don?t think the exercise makes a lot of sense, but I want to play anyway Lunation before the cancer ingress has ASC in 25Virgo, Saturn is close and in sextile to venus. This gives some Cold with some moisture to the summer that can be triggered. In the lunation before 30 July, we have mars transiting original saturn (brrrr) in the ASC of LBCI (lunation before cancer ingress). Venus will be in the 4th house. At the day of 30 july, moon will be in aspect to venus (venus again) in the degree opposite the ASC of LBCI. I am assuming the expected weather in Prague is hot and dry at this time of the year. So we would have either an shock of a hot wave with a cold front (bringing bad weather) or maybe a light rain with venus. This is as far as I can go. 10 by Lunlumo It will be interesting to se what the weather will actually be like that day. What happened near my place the day before yesterday, late afternoon: hot, cloudy -a thunderstorm seemed likely. But there were only some drops, a little windy - that was all. But only about 50 kilometres to the west there were heavy rainfalls at that time and a "mini tornado" damaged some houses in that region - but only in that area. The charts for my place and for that area would have hardly differed - a difference of just one degree for AC /MC. LL Last edited by Lunlumo on Fri Jul 02, 2010 5:45 pm, edited 1 time in total. 11 by yuzuru hi Lunlumo where I live is also that way... the difference from Bogota to a city 20 km of distance can be as high as 10-15 degrees in temperature! I really don?t believe the weather can be predicted so well under astrology. Better to just do an horary :-) Meu blog de astrologia (em portugues) http://yuzuru.wordpress.com My blog of astrology (in english) http://episthemologie.wordpress.com Quote Fri Jul 02, 2010 2:07 pm
12 by Deb To tell you the truth Deb, I don?t think the exercise makes a lot of sense, but I want to play anyway That's the spirit Actually I do believe that astrological moods are reflected in the weather, and partly set this challenge as a way to force myself to find some time to sit down and think about this seriously at some time before the deadline. But the most important thing is to have a bit of fun with this. LL- I'm not sure if you broke any rules because they are being made up as we go along. But I think that if you get your next football match prediction right you should be automatically disqualified from this contest (if not from the forum). Deb Quote Fri Jul 02, 2010 3:38 pm
