Saturday's opening matches in the Premier League are an interesting comparison with last week's Championship. I am again looking at the 3pm BST games and hoping to tell them apart

As last week, Lord of the Day and Hour is Saturn, L1 Mars, and L7 Venus. Again Mars is in detriment and Venus in exaltation. This time Mercury is in H9 for all six of the 3pm matches. A big difference from last week is that L7 is now besieged between Saturn and Mars - or to put it another way, between LD/H and L1.

I have not had much experience with a besieged significator of one team, any thoughts?

There are no significant differences that I can see between these six charts. Last week colour helped - blue beat red. Will this week be the same?

The matches are:
Aston Villa v West Ham
Blackburn v Everton
Bolton v Fulham
Sunderland v Birmingham
Wigan v Blackpool
Wolves v Stoke

I need to do further work, but with L1 and L7 weak (but in different ways) I am looking for an excess of draws in these matches.

Well, I got everything wrong in this evenings Carling Cup.
Cardif - Burton 1-1
Hartlepool - Sheffield U 2-0
Torquay - Reading 0-0

All these oppositions - full of surpizes! My socker shots go nowhere at present.
It must be the dice! I hope colour method does better.

PS: In hindsight I checked the exact charts (no indivitual starting time): Mercury was Lord of 4th. It might also be interesting to note that Mercury rules Middleweek/Middle Earth.

Bad luck, Andrew. These early rounds of cup matches are notoriously difficult to predict with teams from different divisions playing against each other, so well done for getting the Portsmouth result right earlier in the week.

Not really! You got the full time results wrong but the matches that ended in draws at full time (the betting result) then went to extra time. After ET the results were:

My first thoughts on Saturdays games.

From last week: Mars in detriment lost to blue teams whilst the planetary hour swapped over to jupiter. The game that matches this is Sunderland (Mars-red) and Birmingham (likely to be in blue).

The only team that may wear venusion colours could be Everton, who may play in luminous pink. Venus is in rulership and may be quite happy alongside Saturn who has exaltation and triplicity in Libra, although Jupiter is in opposition between the two. So the Blackburn Everton game will be of interest.

Re. Carling Cup: I had a funny feeling about Hartlepool yesterday, included them in my original post but removed it - because my feeling was unastrological. I merely wanted to test out the astrological. There may be something about the sentiment of a day - but it still seems illusive to deal in generals. If there is a simple key here somewhere - it could still be that this logic is swayed by disturbances in the overall picture.

Day Venus, Hour Jupiter - shares powers with AQ asc., opp Saturn
I have Saturn as the administrating planet and opposes Juiter, who is LHr and L10. Moon in Libra sextile POS. It give me this draw-feeling, but I offer the opinion and details just so we can see how it works out.

Leyton - Charlton 1-3.
Poor Leyton, who were looking for a good start to the season. The odds were 2.82 3.24 2.36, so obviously Charlton were considered the stronger team - and the away-team favorites got it. It could be because Jupiter, LHr, was opposite the ascendant? But Jupiter was also L10 - it's a right jumble!

Jupiter and Saturn are tightening down on their mutual opposition this weekend and Uranus re-entered Pisces on Friday. Maybe there are distractions - I feel drawn into the consideration of opposites.

The first game between Tottenham and ManC at 12.45 BST has Asc 4SC19 MC 16LE25 Moon 22LI31 POF 5CP14. Day Saturn, Hour Mercury - not radical. Venus, L7, applies to Mars, L1, but she is in her own sign. I can't see anything decisive. Odds: 2.36 3.26 2.94 - if the lack of radicality moves the result away from the favourite, then the draw is an option? Saturn, L4, is in the same sign as L1 and L7.

The match started 8 minutes ago. It is still 0-0. Here are some last observations. Mars, L1, are Spurs. Venus is dignified, but Mars is square NN, who he disposes by exaltation. This could be a counting factor to Spurs advantage.

Match commentary at timesonline.co.uk: Honours even as the first game of the new Premier League ends in a goalless draw at White Hart Lane. Spurs were superb in the first half and could have been out of sight but for the heroics of Joe Hart in the City goal. The young England goalkeeper justified his inclusion at the expense of Shay Given with a man-of-the-match performance and when he was beaten Gareth Bale was denied by the post. City were abject in the first half, but they got better after the break. It will obviously take a while for all the new faces to get settled and Roberto Mancini will be pleased with a point.

Interesting that Mars, Spurs, was accentuated in the chart, but Venus in her own sign was saved by the 'exalted' goal-keeper, Saturn?

It's half time in the 3pm games and, as it stands, Blackpool are at the top of the Premier League!

How exciting for them. I didn't do anything with the 3pm games, but would have gone with Villa and Wolves at a gut-level. The B'ham draw also seems reasonable. The draws GB was looking for appear to have come out in the Championship. But it very difficult to come up with a well-balanced judgement with all these balls flying through the air all at once.

I think that if a team wins through contrary to the obstacles shown in the chart, this my be a strength or advantage it carries on to the next game - like a default. The thing that really fascinates me with our football play/work is trying to figure out what it all means; Like Spurs were best today - but it was not enough to win the match. Life can be a bit like that sometimes.... but it leaves room for some philosophy.

I did a couple of accumulators on four of the 3pm games. Wolves (gold) and Blackpool (orange) were OK - Sun above horizon and essentially dignified. Also the Sunderland/B'ham draw with the testimonies for Mars and Jupiter being equal. But Everton let me down I felt sure they would win, with Venus above horizon, essentially dignified and supported by Moon in Libra. Perhaps their fluorescent pink is too dazzling for Venus and they should be allocated a different planet. Uranus??
