Who is the correct Significator between 2 towns?

hi guys, I need some help to clarify who is the right significator.

My home town is A and recently I decided to move to town B. But I have doubts if this move is the right choice for me. I don't know where my life perspectives will be better at; in home town A or in town B?

So I erected a chart while I was visiting town B.

My questions are :

1. what house is the significator for town A which is my home town?

Will it be the 4th house?

2. what house is the significator for town B where I was at when I put the question and erected the chart?

Will it be the 4th house, since I already was at town B when I put the question?

Will it be the house opposite the 4th house (that is 10th), as an opponent to my home town A shown by house 4?

Will it be the 7th house, as a derived house (the fourth house after the home town cusp IC)?

Will it be something else?...

Very confused.... I hope you can help....
I also attach the chart in case you need it....
Also, any idea about the answer of my dilemma?

Hi Jupeterios,
I think the fact that you were in town B is not important. According to Lilly the ascendant en the 4th house show your CURRENT home. You haven't moved to town B yet, so the fact that the chart was made while you were in town B is not relevant here!
Town B is described by the 7th house.

Jupiterios, you could use the "stay-or-go" approach for this one:
you just have to (re)ask the question in terms of 'should I stay in A, or move to B?" and then compare the condition of the 1st and 7th house, the condition of Lord 1, Moon, and Lord 7, and check which were the last aspects made by L1 and the Moon, and what will be their next aspects.
John Frawley explains it all nicely in his Horary Textbook, under 7th house chapter.

Hervaro, very interesting approach. It reminds me the sport horary methods. However, could you be more specific, please? In your opinion what town is significated by Lord of 1st house? (my home town A or the town B where I was physically at when asked the question?) What town is significated by Lord of 7th house? And who is the significator of me (moon perhaps) ?

I think everyone is in agreement on this, I'm not sure where the confusion lies.


Your home town is Lord 4.
Lord 7, being significator for destination, is likely to be indicative of the other town to which you hope to move.

So Lord 1/4 = Town A
Lord 7 = Town B

Moon is natural ruler of the horary generally and so its aspects may shed further light on the situation.

Personally I would separate yourself from your home town and suggest that you are lord 1 and the home town is lord 4.

Whether it is about moving from one town to another, or from one job to another, or having to choose between keeping your job or go back to university, in this type of horary the present, actual situation is represented by house 1, L1, Moon, and the possibly future situation that is asked about, is represented by house 7, L7. "STAY OR GO": stay is the actuality, go is hoped/feared for future condition, after changing/moving/whatever is indicated by the question.
So, there may be confusion with the 4th house, which might indeed guide you towards your home(actual) town, in questions like "where will I meet the love of my life?": L7 in 9: abroad, or at university (or in church :-)); L7 in 4: at home, in my village, in my town,...
If the question resolves to 2 possibilties (actual situation, and new situation after action/change/move/... whatever) then Stay-or-Go is a very helpfull approach (not necessarily the only one!).

Methinks if you will use 4th house for hometown (wherever you are when asking the question: 4 indeed IS home) and 7th house for destination as in travel-horaries, it might be enlightening to virtually move L1 in the 4th, and in the 7th, and then compare the condition it is in when in both these houses: in fall or detriment in 4, and in domicile or exaltation in 7: clear indication that moving to town B will pay off. Etc etc.

Hope this helps... I sure recommend getting/loaning JF's book on horary practice and study this kind of question!

And I have to say that I find amazing your advice about virtually moving the L1 to the house 4 and house 7 in order to get an idea of how things may evolve in each case!...

The first house is the place where you current lives, not the 4th.

Besides traditional advice, practical experience suggests that the 4th is not trustworthy... many times it shows other factors, and more times than not, it shows some condition of the prospective place where you want to go, not from where you are!

I didn?t take enough time in this chart, but overall it suggests a moving.

I agree with Yuzuru concerning the 4th house. I would use the 1st house for the place where I am currently residing, and the 7th house for the potential move. The 4th house usually shows where you come from, your roots. It can signify your current location, provided that this is the place where you were born and grew up, methinks... :)

However, I would still use the 1st/7th axis and would look to the 4th for additional information.

Okay I might be misunderstanding this.

Has the querent already moved to Town B yet or not? My understanding was that he had. And is now asking in heindsight.
With that in mind, to save the confusion and because of his attachment to the word 'hometown', I wondered if lord 4 should signify that home, and lord 7 his new town.

It's all very confusing.

The hour ruler is Mars. Mars is hot and dry, the Sun is hot and dry, so that would an indication of radicality. Lord of 1st is peregrine. Lord of 7th is in its exaltation. One testimony in favour of moving. Lord 1 is applying to Jupiter by opposition. Jupiter is a good planet, but the opposition is not a fortunate aspect, plus Jupiter is retrograde. Jupiter rules the 9th and the 5th, so the move might be related to 9th and 5th house matters, perhaps?

The Moon is separating from the Sun (lord 1) and applying to Jupiter by sextile. Strange, it seems that Jupiter and whatever he signifies is tightly related to the move and your reasons behind it. Good luck!
