But I remembered Granny's comment here: http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5078 Jupiter on dc through Iceland. Hot and moist planet with cold and moist sign? The ash is actually caused by super hot lava cooling super fast as it meets the ice. The science baffles me but it is def. hot/cold.. choleric/phelgmatic. God knows what it means for the sea levels as the ice melts. Jupiter in pisces.. right slap bang in the the middle of Iceland (see map on link) Quote Mon Apr 19, 2010 10:28 pm
38 by Mark Can I dare ask you to post a triwheel? Now thats just getting greedy Maybe it should come with a health warning? Even I find triwheels a bit much. Ok I'm not sure where you are hoping to go astrologically with all this so I hope you are willing to delineate the significance for us. No chiron? No Chiron is not in my astrological toolbox and I dont forsee using it either. If we are going to utilise such peripheral celestial objects in mundane charts I do wonder why people discriminate in favour of just Chiron at the expense of the Asteroids and other Centaurs? To be logically consistent its surely none or all? Anyway I digress.......I offered to put up charts as requested so thats different from my own sceptical take on Chiron. 39 by Andrew Bevan Well, we cleared 24. April and got the Moon out of Virgo without further trouble escalating. I've got no more clues on this one and have to wait for new developments to pick up on it again. Following the sequence from 12. Jan (Haiti) to 27. Feb (Chile) and through to 13. April (China/Iceland), the next 45 day interval leads up to 28. May. I haven't gathered material that could define any specifics regarding this date, but it appears relevant to monitor any seismic activity that could be peaking at this time. The 28. May is the date for when Uranus enters tropical Aries and Saturn is practically stationary. http://www.astronor.com Quote Mon Apr 26, 2010 12:11 pm
40 by Mark The shifting clouds of volcanic ash are now distrupting flights from locations such as Portugal, Spain and Northern Italy. Transatlantic flights are also being disrupted. However, spare a thought for the inhabitants of the town of Vik near the site of the Volcano. This video clip puts things in perspective. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8670049.stm Previous eruptions of Eyjafjallajoekull indicate these sporadic volcanic clouds of ash could go on for months or even years. 41 by daz madrigal In the initial chart for the awakening of Eyjafjallaj?kull from its dormant state Mars Lord of 1st resides in Leo. The first degree of Leo is particularly volatile and I would humbly suggest that Uranus applying transit to Lord of 1st results in unpredictable activity up to 2012. Speculatively suggest some cessation in current activity after Mars moves into Virgo (7th June). Would conclude on this simple cycle that the eruption will continue until May 17. And after May 17th will the eruption cease? Or get worse as Katla erupts? I don't know. My point was the usefulness of Mars/Leo as a significator for the eruption which wasn't something picked by Ingress and Eclipse methods. I think the May 17 earthquake at Katla confirmed this because the tie in of the transit of Mars on May 17 to the degree of its 1st station back on Dec 20. Having established the relevance of Mars as one driver (perhaps primary driver?) of volcanic activity, put yourself in the shoes of Mars. Look for times when Mars is strengthened (by transiting aspects from other planets) to signify times for increased volcanic activity. Look for times when Mars is weakened by aspects to signify decreased or delayed volcanic activity. While logical that Mars leaving the sign of Leo might decrease activity, I am not sure the analysis if that simple. The historical record demonstrates these eruptions can be quite lengthy, multi-month, longer than a single year. So using some common sense, volcanic activity will undoubtedly continue long after Mars leaves Leo. The Mars Virgo Ingress will be interesting as Mars will apply to Saturn in the same sign but not perfect the conjunction until both planets enter Libra. Early in this period Mercury will makes its Gemini Ingress. Mercury's movement from Taurus to Gemini, as ruler of both Mars & Saturn in Virgo, will probably create more frequent eruptions and generate more activity. Mars' application to Saturn might suggest a collapsed lava tube which builds pressure for a new eruption later in the year. One could also make the case that a collapsed lava tube would shift the main lava flows over to Katla and increase the odds for Katla to erupt at a later date. This is just a story. You can write your own script. From a predictive standpoint, what will be interesting to watch is whether timing methods for Ingresses and Eclipses are better predictors of subsequent activity or whether dynamic activity to Mars (as I have suggested here) may work better. It's an open question and will be interesting to watch. Dr. H. World Class Research in Medieval Predictive Astrology www.regulus-astrology.com Quote Tue May 18, 2010 1:26 pm

46 by RegulusAstrology Hi Mark, No I haven't tested this on a large sample of volcanoes. I think prediction of geophysical activity is one of the most difficult tasks out there and long ago decided not to get sidetracked by what appeared to be an impossible task. Some background: back in the 1980s in the States, a group called the Foundation for the Study of Cycles was very active. Its work was geared more to financial markets but its scope included geophysical phenomenon. Its ranks included many financial astrologers, all using modern techniques, and an eclectic group of scientists, astronomers, etc., I recall massive studies using the most arcane combination of astrological and astronomical types of modeling. To get good results, one had to get into lunar phases, apogee, perigee, etc., way beyond what Ptolemy indicates for judging earthquakes in his eclipse model (he assigns earthquakes to Mercury - Tetrabiblos Book II, Chapter 8). The back issues of Cycles Magazine are all available through the recently revived Foundation: http://www.foundationforthestudyofcycles.org/ The issue of Mars/Leo as a significator for the current eruption brings up an interesting point which relates to the new thread Kirk just started. When I first mentioned Mars as a significator because of his placement in Leo which I assign to the EU based on Ptolemy's prior assignment of Leo to Gaul (present day Belgium and France), you were correct to remind me that Iceland is not an EU member nation. I don't know what the press coverage is like in Europe, but here in the States, the only thing covered in the media on the volcano is the economic impact of travel disruptions to Europe. There was and is absolutely no discussion, mention, or pictures of the situation on the ground in Iceland. We get only cloud patterns and estimates of travel disruptions. The worry of course is Katla because of its historic larger size and eruptive power which would negatively impact food production through dispersal of a sulfuric acid aerosol in the global upper atmosphere (not to mention lower global temperatures and make for a chilly winter season). So to Kirk's point, the malefic planet of Mars is transiting Leo, sign of the EU, and one current Martian event facing the EU is travel disruptions from a volcanic eruption. So can astrology predict these events? or just show where the human impact is? I think both but the former is pretty challenging. I have found eclipse points, subsequently activated by transits to the eclipse degree, one of the better timers of geophysical activity - and mundane events generally - in the time I have devoted to mundane astrology. But as I enumerated above, the topic of geophysical activity quickly gets out of hand and I chose to give it up. You can get some events, but not all the big ones. I have seen very inconsistent results. Take the USA San Francisco California earthquake of April 18, 1906, 5:12 AM. For this figure Mercury 7AR33-rx is within 7 hours of making its direct station. One can go back and find the Annular Solar Eclipse of 29-Mar-1903 in the same degree. So we have Mercury making a station on a prior eclipse degree and presto! an earthquake in line with Ptolemy's assignment of Mercury as ruler of earthquakes. This is an interesting piece of hindsight astrology, and it is only that, because there would have been no way I would have been able to put that one together, especially as the lord of that 1903 solar eclipse degree was Mars not Mercury. Then there is the search for more eclipses, ingresses, etc., To sum up, given the inconsistent results I have seen with attempts at predicting geophysical activity with astrology, I simply honed in on Mars/Leo because its retrograde cycle was tracking the volcanic activity fairly precisely. Since the below ground disruption started when Mars went retro and erupted close to its direct station, it only made sense that we would get some other event (or continuing activity until) Mars transited the retro station of last December. So from here on out I am a watcher like everybody else. Sorry to ramble but my response reflects what I perceive is a difficult predictive topic. Dr. H. The no fly zone was lifted on May 18th, so well done and lets hope it continues. Would add a word of caution as Jup/Ura enter Aries on June 6th, this could negate any good influence of mars entering virgo. June 6th could be tricky!
