Capricorn Solar Ingress 22-12-2010 in London

I wonder if the recent Student fees protest and the way the Police handled it manifet the early activation of the Capricorn solar ingress chart for London. This chart has Maercury rx. in Sag tightly cnj the IC and square the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction smack on the Descendant.
(Mercury, Uranus and Jupiter parans). It also has a tight Moon/Mars opposition.

Interestingly, one cannot find FS Algol prominenet in the chart, despite the fact that, according to the press, the protestors attcked Prince Charles and Camilla's car, shouting "Off with their heads !".

In the Capricorn ingress chart cast for London, it is fixed star Alkaid ( 'hired mourners') that is rising.

Call me a pedant but I am not sure about an ingress chart operating before it actually happens. :-? I know notions of linear time can be questioned and we do have techniques like converse secondary progressions. Still, I will look at the pre-lunation chart which here is a new Moon.

The government's opponents (IC/4th house) represented by Mercury. Opposing the ascendant and right on the nodal axis. Technically still in the 6th house by quadrant house. The MC ruler (Jupiter) square the Moon/Sun by moeity orbs from the 6th (the oppressed, the alienated etc). Jupiter is very strong by accidental and essential dignity. Jupiter disposits the New Moon/Sun. Despite opposition the government obtains its objectives (ie vote in house of Commons for changes to fees) and the violence loses public support for the protesters. I do wonder about the exaltation ruler of the MC being Venus in Scorpio. Perhaps the Liberal Democrat part of the coalition weakened by the affair? Alternatively its in the 5th house and disposited by Mars. Being corrupted in Scorpio yet in its house of joy Venus perhaps symbolizes the destructive, negative aspect of the student protests. By quadrant houses Mars is Lord 6 so in its joy too and exaltation ruler of the 7th. Mars is transiting Acumen the malefic Nebula in the constellation of Scorpio of the nature of the Moon and Mars.

I think it would be interesting to check this chart against the transits for the outbreak of violence by a small number of students last night. Mars had just gone into Capricorn (its exaltation). This put it quite close to the nodal axis. Mercury also went stationary yesterday. Due to its role as representing opponents of the government in the New Moon chart that change in planetary phase had added significance. And of course as a natural significator Mercury is very appropriate for symbolizing student opposition to the government.

hmm..that sounds like wishful thinking to me, why should the poor pay for the education of middle class student? Maybe it would be a valid opinion if the Moon were in tighter conjunction than 15 degrees.

I monitored the event closely, the students deviated from the planned route and were pushing back a thin line of police with dangerous ease. Next the first real 'event'..

Conjunctions to 7th Cusp.

Sun SAG - Police on horseback attempt to force demonstrators back with the result that one rider is pulled off and badly injured.

Mer/Ma/Pl CAP - Increasing tension/violence

Mo AQ - Attack on Pr. Charles & Camilla

It might also be interesting to look at the Coalition chart although judging from transits to it on the first Demo there really wasnt much to tell apart from Saturn transit to 11th cusp (damage to Tory HQ?).

That sounds very partisan. Surely state further education is currently funded by citizens of all income levels? Equally, I was under the impression that a large part of the logic behind the student protests was precisely the opposite of what you suggest. In other words to maintain a system that does not make access to further education the preserve of the wealthy.

Ofcourse but surely the poor are least able to fund it, moreover they are by and large having to fork out to middle class students rather than the poorer students who are mainly exempt from such fees.

Its debatable, all evidence points to the introduction of student fees as having no negative effect on the numbers of state school pupils and students from poorer backgrounds going to university. If anything the precise opposite is the case,as the poorest quarter of graduates will pay back less overall than they do currently. In effect its an encouragement to poorer students over their wealthier peers.

Its debatable,
Indeed it is. I can see we are operating from fundamentally different perspectives on this issue. While it would be very tempting to marshall the evidence which challenges your view l dont want this to degenerate into a political argument. Lets just agree to disagree and get back to the astrology.

Could anybody read the new moon chart that Mark posted and say "there will be student protests because of the raising fees"? I doubt it.

But imagining that the PM would consult Mark or Deb or other fine astrologer from Albion with the question "Is this a good time for pushing this? Will it be protests?" Maybe it would be easier to answer.

It is hard to miss that Jupiter ruling government. Jupiter also disposes the new moon. Opposition on the DSC. I don?t know if the technique could work in other matters (would have to test it), but in the case we would be likely to say yes.

Will it be protests? Yes, with violence. Mars squares Jupiter, and mars rules the 6th house.

We also noticed that New moon chart reverses the ASC-DSC axis of previous eclipse chart for London, plugging it to the destructive energy of eclipses.

Will this be a good move long term? I don?t know British polices and confess I don?t really care... But I would guess the move is not positive. In the eclipse chart, 9th house is ruled by venus, at 1 Virgo, at fall.

In the Libra Ingress, 1 Virgo is the place of ASC, connecting it to the ingress chart. So a fallen benefic afflicts the people.

It seems to me that maybe superior education will loose something of its prestige. Maybe people will look for cheaper substitutes (online degrees maybe?) or something like that. Venus at fall shows something that it is too pricey and beautiful but of lesser value.

I dont know why you say the Poor? verses the middle class? attainable education is the way to raising up out of poverty, raising fees only dumbs down the entire country and reduces yet more to poverty. Frankly the Poor should scream louder for lower education costs.

of course that is opinion, where as astrologically speaking, the moon representing the first and second houses in that chart mundanely represent the People, and the wealth of the nation,. Both appear to be with the Planet Mercury, Which is an Observation. Whatever ones opinion might be.
