Queensland has been devastated by floods.Probably worse than in 1974.
They have been termed Biblical in proprotion.
People have been asked to move to safer places.

4th house is conjunct Caput Algol and so is Moon the ruler of people in general.
There is a general fear of disease and pestilence when this abates.The succesive draught had loosened the top soil and now the floods have washed them away.

Glad you brought this up.

The winter solstice chart is almost a replica of the vernal equinox chart for Brisbane. In the latter, the very first degree of Pisces ascends and coupled with this, I think the square of Neptune to the Moon, involving the cusps of the Ascendant and the IC in both the charts, is significant. As you pointed out, Caput Algol is conjunct the Moon on the IC in both the charts.

I don?t know if others have experimented with ?Sepharial?s? curious system of what he calls Hebrew Astrology, but here?s what it would look like:

For the year 2010 ? 2011 (vernal equinox to vernal equinox), the sign Taurus ascends for Australia (the sign on the cusp of the IC in both the charts mentioned above), with the Moon and Mercury therein. Australia?s own sign, Sagittarius falls on the cusp of the 8th House, once again with the Moon and Mercury in it.

The charts for Sun/Moon elipses clearly show Mars rising over Rio Janero,Brazil, and setting over Queensland, the two regions hit by floods.
I don`t usually have much regard for Elipses, given that I was taught modern psychological Astrology.

Hi there I posted something along those lines on the Korean thread

since I was never convinced that a Mars/Saturn square could ever show the onset of war. Its funny at the time of those discussions here in December I was even musing on AUstralia purely because of Bernadette Brady's observations about the Saros series of this January's solar eclipse. The reason I did not pursue at the time was a general sceptisism about the over use of eclipses in either personal or mundane charts.

Anyway I guote Brady from "The Eagle and the Lark" for Saros 13 North (in her system)..
"Australia's chart seems to be very sensitive to this 13 series. THe first time it affected Australia's chart was 13 South in 1939 - the year when Australia went to War . It occured again in 1975 and that was a year of constitutional crisis climaxing in the dismissal of Prime Minister Whitlam. The three times that 13 North affected Australia's chart were first in 1938 - the Empire Games in Sydney, second in 1956 - Cyclone Tracy. Darwin , the only city to be bombed in WW2 was devastated by a cyclone. This event caused the biggest peacetime evacuation that Australia had ever seen..."

I guess that with the eclipse of Jan occuring at 14 Capricorn the transiting Mars/Saturn square was one hell of a potent trigger!!!

Federation of the OZ states and de facto independance occured on January 1st 1901 so anything affecting early to mid CAP is going to trigger that chart, dependant on what flavour of tweak you have to that independance chart. In that chart there is a CAP Sun/Saturn conjunction. Hard times always shows the resiliance and character of Australia as a great nation

The floods predated the solar eclipse but Brisbane got affected after the eclipse.Not sure what Brady,s views are on eclipse effects showing up before the actual date.Maybe the Dec Moon eclipse was the trigger.

When water covers everything then it is difficult to get a sense of damage but when it receeded the sight was very saddening.
