Mars spends a long time as cazimi, in the Heart of the Sun, doesn't he?
The condition lasts for over 2 days and that is quite a grilling!
Or what we might call - a long time in the Sun!

The diameter of the Sun at this time of the year is 32,5' of arc and its apparent daily motion in the Sky is 1 degree 1' due to the Earth being so close to perihelion. the daily motion of Mars is 47,2' of arc. This means that difference between the daily motion of the Sun and that of Mars is 13,9'. Simple mathematics would indicate that it took Mars over(32,5:13,9) = 2,338 days or 2 days 8 hours to cross the full length of the Sun. I'm not splitting this down to minutes and seconds, but Mars appears to enter cazimi at about 12.00 GMT on Feb 3. 2011. then it will be cazimi until roughly 22.00 GMT on Feb 5. That's 2 days and 10 hours!

A planet cazimi is supposed to be like a person sitting on a winning ticket, or having it under their hat, as it were. But the Sun in its detriment in Aquarius - is this good or bad? It's like Mars in its detriment in Libra, good or bad? Mars in Libra will fight for peace. The current uproar in Egypt is a situation of Mars acting up to be for a democratic cause. By following the news and taking notes this adds to our understanding of the configuration.

It intresting how matters have boiled up in Egypt ahead of Mars cazimi, but this is how significant configurations will act - casting their shadow backwards or forwards in time. This one came close to the New Year Moon at 13AQ54. But maybe the duration of the configuration can be converted into how long the boil will last before matters cool down into a new order.

Interesting that you come up with this one Andrew. Last night I was looking at the same Sun Moon Mars conjunction position on midnight 3 February in the ephemeris. Note that this makes a semisquare to Uranus to the East and a semisquare to Venus to the West. Venus semisquare Sun will be around midnight 5 feb, almost at the same time as Sun Mars conjunction.

I have an Astro*cartography chart on the lunation up on the board on my website at Astronor.com (Link). I have added a conventional chart to this mapping because it shows the semi-square to Uranus that you mention. And the lunation is on the midpoint of the Venus square Uranus that you also refer to.

Actually, I think that the Norwegian West Coast is due for a notable earthquake, maybe touching the Richter 5 level. Also there may be some aviation problems in the area. I am trying to work out some areas that may be highlighted. We will see. :'

PS. I may not get too heavily involved in the on-going excitement in Egypt. Have you ever been at those footballgames where all the players run around after the ball. It is exciting being where the action is - but a part of the game and success in it is keeping your position and keeping focus, too. The astro*cartography chart pick up the theme with JU/UR line over Egypt in the eclipse chart and now SA/PL not far off - but there is obviously something else, too. I don't mind just tracing this one and leaving clues that can be examined in retrospect.

I was also thinking of the line through the North Sea West Europe etc.

I've never been to a football game, I'm more the individual sports type, martial arts, running etc. Probably finds it expression in astrology too :) .

Good work! Maybe you can keep an eye open for other things occuring under the same meridian. I decided to focus on Norway due the advantage of local knowledge and access to newspapers, etc. Also in the chart of Norway, transit Neptune will be square the MC and transit Mars will come to the same point before Febuary is over. The sitting government, a coalition lead by PM Stoltenberg, are very weak at the moment and are in a predicament over looking for oil resources in vulnerable areas of nature resources, fishing, etc.

Uranus in Pisces is vulnerable - because Pisces MAY show things getting in a tangle, or people standing back to back and facing opposite directions. Navigating and co-operating in the right decision might be difficult, that is why I think the transport sector may be sensitive - and there is also a lot of helicopter transport along the Norwegian West Coast to oil installations and the like.

I would go for a Solar chart, Mark, and use May 4. 1928. But it is interesting that he took over as Egypts' president on Oct 14. 1981. I have had a thread running at the sports section on the year Charles and Diana got married and the ghost of a Oslo-football derby that it took 29 years to over-throw. And when the spell was broken, the club it took 29 years to beat, Lyn ("Lightening"), went bankrupt and were done.

But more relevant for the current thread, on Oct 14. 1981 - Jupiter was cazimi. In comparison with the casizimi of Mars where the Sun is in its detriment in Aquarius, on the day Mubarak took over as President, Jupiter was cazimi with the Sun in his fall, Libra. Also note how Venus disposes both Sun and Moon, and Venus and Jupiter are in mutual reception. :o

It is! I have been looking at that very chart myself. :shock:

I plan to stick it up myself in the Egypt thread. You can clearly see how Saturn has come home to roost in the chart.

I have more information on this, Mark.

In fact, when King Haakon VII of Norway died on September 21. 1957, Mars was cazimi and Prince Olav ascended to the throne. Then when Olav V passed away on Janary 17. 1991, Saturn was cazimi, and he was succeeded by Prince Harald, who became King Harald V. - the current Regent. The charts may be viewed at Astronor.com.

I've had these charts on net for years and cast them when King Olav V passed away and Prince Harald became King in 1991. Another interesting feature in the charts is that the cazimi planet in both cases is dispoitor or the Moon's north node. Now, it could be unwise to anticipate the exact nature events that could play out as Mars goes cazimi on February 3. and 4. but the matter we are discussing involves a potential change of power and leadership. It is actually a replacement of the Head, in reference to the Moon's north node - the Dragon's Head. In the current example the cazimi planet, Mars, disposes the Moon's north node not by rulership but by exalation. This could be the signature of a regime and a dictator - someone who assumes more than he is due, or more violent and extra-ordinary overthrow of power/ or change of management.

This cazimi mars/new moon is conjunct the lunar eclipse from aug 5, 2009.
