Radio Norway gives Astrology credible presentation

I've done a few radio interviews the last 25 years. On January 30. 2011 I was guest at the program Kosmo at Radio Norway (www.radionorge.com) hosted by Marianne Moe. In retrospect I think this probably was the best editorial attempt I have ever experienced in contact with radio or television in their effort to present the listener with an educated view on the subject of astrology.

The show on Sunday lasted for two hours and was divided into two sessions; the first was given to astronomy, the second to astrology. I have taken away the music and commercials and cut the clip down to about 12 minutes and it may be listened to 'here'. Unfortunately, it is in Norwegian but I have run out a rough translation of RadioNorges introduction to astrology before the interview got started;

Kosmo, RadioNorway January 30. 2011

- In spite of having failed empirical tests under supervised conditions and the lack of scientific evidence, the belief in astrology is widespread. And this is how it has been since Man for the first time began studying the stars.

The first astrological inscriptions we know come from Mesopotamia. In the ruins of a royal library from about 650 BC there were found astrological texts. In the 1st century BC the historian Pliny the elder relates of how astrology was developed in Chaldea and introduced to Greece from Babylon. Greek scientists were of the opinion that the Egyptians were the origin of astrology. At least one of the principle texts from about 150 BC was written by two Egyptian authors.

The importance of the elements in the different signs was introduced by one of Pythagoras pupils, Pherekydes, in the year 475 BC. The astrologer Aristotos from Salmos claimed in 280 BC the Earth and the planets were in orbit around the Sun but this notion was not warm heartedly received at the time. It was the Greek that combined their own God lore with the celestial heavens and that became determining for the nature and influences associated with the different astrological signs, the position of a planet in the sky and what will happen when these qualities perform at the same time in a horoscope.

The Romans adopted the astrology of the Greek. They kept the Greek astrological meanings but added different parts their own names and it was now in the Roman age that astrology really blossomed. Caesar Augustus was a follower of astrology. He had his own Sun sign Capricorn inscribed on several coins. His successor, Caesar Tiberius, was also a practising astrologer. All the same, it was at this time, under the Roman Empire, that the critic of astrology was also raised. The Christians denied astrology and the Muslims were even more categorical in their condemnation. In spite of this more people became better acquainted with the secrets of astrology.

Astrology spread from Rome and north to Europe. In the 13th century astrology was taught at the University of Oxford. The famous doctor Paracelsus wrote a 500 page book on astrology. Nicolas Copernicus, Tycho Brahe, Galileo Galilei and Johannes Kepler were all both astrologers and astronomers. They all cast and interpreted astrological charts on different occasions. But in spite of this it was Galileo Galilei who formed the theses; ?Only that which can be measured is valuable scientifically? and with this he excluded astrology from the scientific collegium.

All the same, as curious as WE are, we will not let astrology lie with that.

It must be great to be treated with respect, tolerance and to have the subject presented with some genuine appreciation of its historical significance.

Radio Challange passed to ther Satisfactory

RadioNorway (www.radionorge.com) concluded that a blind test of astrology was passed to their satisfactory in their studios in Oslo this afternoon, February 2. 2011. The session will now be clipped and edited, to be broadcast on their late night show ?Kosmo? on first-coming Sunday.

The radio channel set the challenge last week, providing the astrologer (myself) the accurate birthdata of two staff members, the one being the host herself ? the other an unknown colleague of the approximate same age but not gving in to any additional details or letting me know who was who. The host said that they had relatively similar personality traits in some ways but differed in offers. With the general criticism of astrology being that chart readings can be made to fit everyone, the challenge was to describe the women so that they could distinguish the one from the other and recognize them selves in these descriptions beyond reasonable doubt.

The Radio Host and her unknown associate found the test to have been passed to their satisfactory on following grounds: A plausible explanation was offered for how people of relatively similar characteristics and make-up may divert in different directions. These differences were satisfacorty described and explained in relation to the charts in hand. The candidates recognized the desription of themselves beyond doubt and it was demonstrated I had been able to work out who was who.

Specific details were offered;

Candidate A suffered a traumatic loss at the age of 4-5 year of age and suffered an eating disorder from the age of 14 and until 19 years of age. There was a significant and challenging change in her life circumstances at the age of 39, and her partner was described as potentially Leo or Capricorn. This was all true and her partner was born under the sign of Capricorn.

Candidate B was brought to the world under difficult circumstances and separated from her parents. She is described as more emotional that candidate A. Upheavals and potential crises were described in her life at the age of 25 ? years and 30 years of age (neither confirmed or denied), yet a break in her martial relationship between the age of 31 and 36 was confirmed in the following manner: ?- When I was 31 years we move away from one another, but when I was 36 I moved back together again with the same man.? I indicated a significant change and advancement in her career 1,5 years ago, and this was confirmed to be true.

In addition I offered a case for the limitations of the work provided, explaining that it did not provide a true counselling situation ? but where the media hotspot also set limitations as to what could be discussed. Lastly adding that a doctor would not under normal circumstances perform an operation without first reading the case history and that the practice of astrology may be considered in a similar fashion.

Due to this weeks news from NASA regarding Kepler 11 and the Solar system that bears similarities with our own, RadioNorway decided to give precedence to the current astronomical discoveries and will be broadcasting their test of astrology on February 13. instead. I sent the programhost an email confirming that was fine by me and added;
"-You know that solar system have been there all the time, the only thing that has changed is in our consciousness of it."

The following was braodcast on the popularscience program Kosmo on February 13. 2011 in a program that included both reputable astronomers, researchers, scientists and a zoologist.

Two weeks earlier I had been provided the birthdata of the radio host and a second person ? not knowing anything else, except that it was a colleague. Nothing regarding who owned either chart or being provided any other case history. With the general criticism of Astrology being that chart readings can be made to fit anyone, the challenge was to describe the charts such that the women could recognize who was who beyond reasonable doubt.

Marianne Moe: Yes, Inger, what do you have to say to this?
Inger Dahle: It?s just a matter of saying ?Wow!? (laughter)
Marianne: I think we both need to sit down a bit. First we will listen to some music and then we will give our verdict. (Introduction to music..)

Marianne Moe: You are listening to Kosmo at RadioNorge and we've sat ourselves down, Inger.
Inger: I was both astonished and overwhelmed at the same time. This was impressive! I was expecting something sweet and messy about my love-life and personal happiness, but then he went through real things that have happened both in my life and in your life, too.

Marianne: Astrologer Andrew Bevan has been allowed to leave the studio now, but we must say that it wasn?t difficult to recognize either of us. What was it that caught your attention?
Inger: Well, different things really, both in regards to the distant relationship to my parents, because this is a fact, and also the things occurred in my professional life 1 ? years ago. It was the specific details that took me by surprise because when you read about astrology in newspapers and weekly magazines everything seems to have to do with love and happiness ? but here it was just like he was picking up on our universal threads and the footprints of our lives.
Marianne: Yes, don?t you think? 1 ? years ago there were professional changes in your life. For me he described it on the dot - 3 years ago. The positive thing is, as well, that you already, according to the astrologer, are in a very good ?run? professionally.

Inger: Yes, and you are approaching a very good period. It?s a good job we weren?t told that our best periods were behind us ? because that would have been a bit sad (laughter).
Marianne: I just took note that my peak period starts 6 years ahead in time, which is the time when our when our use of the FM-wave length is suspended (more laughter).
Inger: You could be the new Minister of Culture, for all we know.
Marianne: Yes (laughter), but I think we can conclude that Andrew Bevan literarily blew us off our chairs? And passed the test, don?t you agree?
Inger: Yes, and particularly because we are two critical women in our 40?s, who ask questions regarding the validity of things every time we are presented with something new. - And that's a needle?s eye it isn?t always easy to get through.

Astrology Guests 'Showman'

As a follow-up on the two successful presentations of Astrology on the popular-science program 'Kosmo' on RadioNorge over the last month I was asked to step in as a guest, together with the Norwegian celebrity Silje Stang, on a Norwegian version of the David Letterman-show called 'Showman'. The show was recorded 'Live on tape' in the TV2 studios in Oslo on Tuesday, Feb 22. and will be broadcast on TV2 Zebra on Thursday, Feb. 24. 2011 at 22.30 CST (21.30 GMT).

Within the framework of a slap-stick show of this category, I was once again impressed with work of the TV-crew and their effort to offer both a fair and entertaining presentation of astrology. The program starts with the host Haavard Lilleheie hearing out the astrologer backstage as to whether one of the most successful talkshows in Norwegian television history is likely be taken off air and he will be their replacement. The TV-host doesn't actually get the answer he is looking for because the astrologer reminds him of the two Golden rules of astrology: 2) 'Don't ask a question you don't want to know the answer to', and 1) 'Take good care of your astrologer.'

Then the show gets going with a presentation of the guests. On my part this offered a brief summary of past documented predictive work including 4 crashes to the financial markets, before the program converted into humour where they showed a number of cases where people could have been in a dire need of an astrologer. As we got sat down I was offered to explain regarding the use of astrology; In fact I DID cast a chart before accepting to participate on the show, but I also got to say how I had predicted several earthquakes - including the largest earthquake in Norway for 50 years to the exact date with the prediction printed in the Newspapers IN ADVANCE, and a frightful earthquake in Iran in 1990 with over 47.000 casualities where I had sent a warning to an Earthquake center only 2 days earlier. The problem, I said, was that while I thought I had 'made it' astrologically, science only muffled the whole thing down because they didn't understand it and were scared of the consequences if they took it seriously.

Apart from that, I said, as long as no one was paying me I didn't try to figure out to much about anything, just those things that interested me.

There was the opportunity to explain some of the basics of astrological philosophy and technique, before getting down to the details in the charts of guest star Silje Stang and the TV-host himself, Haavard Lilleheie. Both charts were interesting and I was able to demonstrate how an 'error mismatch' in the host's early life had put the infant in a stage of pannic - something that caused him to do all sorts of weird things, but I was also able to show how the topic reappeared at the age of 32, at which time he was arrested and sentenced to 18 days prison for speeding. Everyone found this funny and it presented no hazard for the show.

If anyone ever does get to making an appearance in either radio or television, remember that there are lots of unexpected things that can happen while you are on air. Your main objective is to relax, enjoy yourself and keep things simple so people can follow you. It's important to remember that the general public have no possibility to understand too many technical aspects of the astrological, and any reading given to anyone present is in danger of either getting too personal or too internal. The financial internet magazine Hegnar Online gave credit last week for correctly pin-pointing, warning and thus predicting the recent earthquakes in Japan. They also acknowledged the high-lighting of Egypt, Sudan and Libya before the trouble got rolling. This was based upon the Saturn/Pluto line in the Astro*Cartography falling on the boarder of these 3 nations. One month eartlier this intersection had fallen over the Domodedovo Airport, Moscow, which had been subject to a terrorist action.

Hegnar Online, did also in a neutral and objective manner, relate to an astrology-based thesis on future afterquake and earthquake activity. I am particularly pleased with this. Fortunately, Japan has not had to suffer a major sized catastrophy afterquake, but afterquake activity did rize and peak on the critical date of March 17. and then recede after this date, which was well within the boundaries of the thesis offered. This topic has been thoroughly discussed at the mundane section. Next day to be monitored in this sequence of natural progressions is close April 25.
