Job in Europe?

1
This is an event chart. It was cast for the moment my husband broached the idea to me of his taking a specific teaching job in Europe should it become available and he successful in winning the position. We live in Canada and would both move to Europe if it's a go.

The situation is that he has a friend who used to teach at this school who feels that her recommendation would go a long way toward helping him secure the job should there be an opening. He's also very well qualified for the position. The person who currently holds the position has been considering retiring for the last couple of years and has told my husband's friend that she is again thinking of it for this year. However there has been no confirmation of this yet.

So my question is, based on this event chart, will a position become available this year and if so will my husband be successful in his bid for the job?

There is hour agreement which seems like a vote in the Yes direction to me. In addition the Moon, exalted sect ruler in the 10th, applies directly to the trine of the Sun, L1. Venus, L10 is conjunct the Part of Fortune and trine the ascendant. Venus is also antiscia L1, which seems to imply help from behind the scenes to get the job.

As this is an event chart, I think the Sun represents my husband, but if you wanted to call me the querent, then Saturn signifies my husband. Saturn is exalted and receives the impending sextile of L10.

Either way it looks like a YES to me, but I'd appreciate hearing what forum members think.

Tara,

I ask the benevolent membership of this Forum to correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never heard anything in writting about doing horarys from event charts. I stand to be corrected.

Event Charts are like when something happens like the moment one meets thier spouse.

Like when I met my deceased wife, the event chart showed a trial at the end of the event, No horary could be done with that, but the event manifested as our Creator's stars proclaimed.

I wish many posting here would use the Liz Greene format on asto.com as it's easier to see the degrees and minutes of planets in the wheel; rather than the present event(???) chart posted.

Yes, please!

I would be grateful if someone would have a go at the chart itself rather than quibbling about the chart form (degrees and minutes are clear to see on the left hand side) or whether or not the chart is valid for interpretation.

I see this as the birth of an idea. Where's the idea going to go? There's even planetary hour agreement for cripes sake.

Thanks.
Tara

I agree with other posters. You can't read an event chart like horary - you don't look at hour agreement, etc. As we've mentioned before, it's probably best to take into account the natal charts of people involved.
So my question is, based on this event chart, will a position become available this year and if so will my husband be successful in his bid for the job?
This seems a bit backwards. You should ask yourself this before setting up an event. You basically use an event chart to try to pick an opportune time for your venture.

Was your primary intention to put both malefics cadent?

I don't like lord 1 in the 6th house between two malefics in hard aspect. Moon is increasing in light, elevated, trine Sun and exalted (also the luminary of sect), which would normally be super helpful here to mitigate this influence, but it rules the most unfortune house and is conjunct Algol. Jupiter may mitigate Moon's affliction but it's cadent and you don't normally want your benefics cadent to help (although the 9th obviously may relate to the matter if this is higher ed).

A teaching question specifically - depending on higher or lower ed - may require specific attention to Mercury or Jupiter.

Were I to choose a time, I would have placed Cancer rising and made Moon the ASC ruler (also a time more so where Moon was out of orb of Algol) with Jupiter moved towards the MC more so. Or Pisces on the ASC - I had a job interview this very day with Pisces rising and I got the job. Although, I have Sun at 22 Taurus and Pisces MC, so it's more personal for me.

I realize Cancer would have brought Mars to the 7th, but he's combust so he would hopefully be too weak to inflict harm.

Oh, I see, so you are thinking that at the moment of deciding to do this venture it would be a "birth" chart of the process. I am not sure event charts work this way? Normally you would say to yourself, "Leo is rising and..." (blah blah blah)... "so this would be a good time to submit my application for this job." Or, "this would be a good time for my interview." Etc. You supposedly can look at event charts as a moment in time for an event that happened, but it's not the same thing as horary. You don't automatically become L1, etc. I realize this has been confusing for other posters in the past, so you aren't the first person to do this.
Or Pisces on the ASC - I had a job interview this very day with Pisces rising and I got the job.
I meant to say the date of the chart you posted - mine was in the AM, obviously.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. This moment was not elected. It happened that at that moment my husband broached the idea of moving to Europe to me. I thought this would constitute a "moment of astrology" as it was indeed the introduction or birth of a possibility. So where does this possiblity lead? That was the question.

Oh well.Time will tell in any event. Thanks for your thoughts.

I think the confusion in your post is between event or electional charts vs. horary here. I would recommend reading more about event charts because I am not sure if you understand the difference. An event has not truly happened since you were just discussing this venture and have not done anything about it. This to me does not seem like an event chart but maybe a horary, since you are basically asking if this will lead to anything after your discussion. I don't see how a discussion with your husband is an event.

I could be wrong (hopefully Deb can chime in), but I think it might be an event chart for a discussion, basically.

Hello Tara

My view from reading your first post is that this is a horary chart. I realise horaries are normally asked with clear intention to 'do a horary' but I can see in your description that you were wanting to know what the astrology described about the potential. It's a bit like doing a consultation chart, IMO.

I haven't had time (or the necessary focus of mind....lack of sleep) to look at the chart but I thought I'd say that I agree with the astrological approach you're taking. I may be wrong but I agree with it! I'm a student of horary so I come here to learn, so I'm open to the views of everyone else.

I don't have a problem with viewing the chart wheel but we all have our differences in eyesight and screen/monitor sizes.... often when someone posts a chart here it goes off my screen!

Hi all,
I think this chart is a valid horary chart, Tara :) What I don't like here is the fixity of the angles: I think I want to see some indications of change because all depends on the retirement of the current teacher, if I am right?
I would, as you did, use the Sun for your husband too.

Thanks Tienka and handn for seeing my point about the chart being a "moment of astrology" albeit not a conventional horary and not at all an election chart.

handn, thanks for posting the Liz Greene chart form. It is much clearer and I'll look for it next time I upload a chart. I was actually so pleased I was able to post a chart at all as it was the first time I had managed to do it.

Tienka, the penny just dropped for me earlier this morning about the fixed angles ... and we still haven't heard that the woman has handed in her resignation so it does look as if she is staying put for this year at least. Maybe next year ...

Thanks all for taking the time to weigh in.

Tara

Your first sentence was that the chart was an event chart, so forum members had a right to question your approach in trying to read it as a horary. If someone posted a synastry chart and asked it to be read as a composite, would we regard the two chart types as the same? When someone posts info on their chart we have to assume that's what they mean - I don't think Clinton, Olivia or myself felt certain what chart type we were dealing with nor were we comfortable in assuming which chart type you were fishing for, and I am sorry if that offended you but we really just wanted clarification.
So my question is, based on this event chart, will a position become available this year and if so will my husband be successful in his bid for the job?
I already mentioned the state of the Moon, etc. I don't have much time to comment on this, but you wanted to know if a position would become available and the MC ruler is Venus, who is VOC, or at least applying ad vac before a sextile to Saturn, in the chart. She's not really your standard significator for a teaching position, although she also rules the 3rd house, which holds L7 (Saturn - and you mentioned your husband is considering retiring so Saturn would more likely fit him as a significator). Normally I would turn rulers but Venus seems more significant here. I would say that L10 VOC is probably not the best sign that a position will open up, but since she does eventually meet with Saturn that could show an opportunity (mutable succeedent could be in months). Venus-Saturn are 10 degrees apart (not within orb of influence) and L10 applying to your husband and receiving is generally easier although you would want a mutual reception to make a sextile stick. L7 is also slowing to stationary retro, so he may change his mind about such plans.
