Something that looks like a crash or correction to the financial markets does currently seems to be unwinding due to the financial difficulty, debt and potential bankruptcy of 'The World' in Dubai.

Wikipedia: The Times Online reports in 2009 that work on The World had been suspended due to the effects of the global financial crisis. The Irish businessman John O'Dolan, who purchased "Ireland" and the "English" islands, committed suicide in February 2009 after his consortium fell into financial difficulty.

O'Dolan was found dead in his home of Friday, 27 February 2009.

It's worthwhile looking at the charts of the Great Conjunctions with respect to Dubai:

When JU/NE/CHIR met there some months ago the first fatal news was spread.
Now NE is returning, already close to the AC.

Take the subordinate Great Conj. of Dec 31st, 1980 (Change into the airy element) : You find PL conj AC in Libra - an attempt to realize "total beauty".

Well here we are a year after banking crises rocked institutions with a Cardinal square between Mars and Jupiter, and now

with Mars and Jupiter in opposition, and triggered by other transits, here we are visiting it again from a different angle!!!

It interests me that the bubbles burst when the nature of the shakiness of a guarantee backing the transactions was revealed. Last year it was the inability of institutions to function and governments to step in to save Lehman Bros etc that signalled the game was up. Very much rthe realm of the Cardinal signs (especially with the focus on Capricorn). Now we see this collapse in the playground of Gulf Royalty under the Leonine transit!!!

This collapse is interesting in the light of the transitions of the Venusian star of Islam from Martial rulership in detriment into Jupiterian rulership (?and the safety of higher ground the United Arab Emirates are a hilly dry zone) ? in the next couple of days. The crisis has happened now because those local royal backers have stepped away and are
not provided backing. Venus is out of its depth in the latter part of Scorpio and square to this action in Aquarius.

Clearly this particular "gamble" has been known to to be a bad one for a while. Possibly linked to the head of the propery company commiting suicide earlier in the year. But now its almost as though the local rulers after flirting with a more Western view of money property markets are retrenching into a more traditional view - underlined by Venus's movement into the more theocratic rulership of SAG.

I wonder about further ramifications - Clearly part of the western policy of crisis management was engaging areas of the world which were initially reticent because of traditionally different models of the use of Capital. Ie like this Leonine "Fire" zone of the Gulf States, and the Cancerian "Water" zone of the far East ( I hope you understand what I'm getting at there).

I notice that the fortunes of Dubai seem to be tied into the Jupiter/Mars cycle.
The current ruling dynasty of Dubai, Al Maktoum came to power in 1833 and with an incorporation for the port town dated 9 June 1833 (I took this from WIki). this was under the conjunction of Mars and Jupiter. The current setup as part of the United Arab Emirates can be dated to the proclamation of Independance on 2 December 1971 (Campion chart no 343). Here we had a Square between Jupiter and Mars! In the independance chart Jupiter is riding high on the MC in its Sag rulership with the company of the Sun. SO now with these troubles under the opposition we can see how fundamental to Dubai and I guess the Maktoum dynasty that this all is!

Lehman Bros went under. They weren't saved. But your point is still valid: that was the signal that things were about to get bad, and other financial institutions did get bailed out.

We don't know yet if the Dubai fiasco is going to get worse, but it probably will. It isn't the $80 billion that is a problem - we're into trillions now. It's the idea that if they can't make this payment, how are they going to make the future payments? It's a valid question and it is the financial reason the markets are trembling slightly. The lesson is that we can't spend gazillions more than we take in. Now if government would only get that message.

The SP500 was 1560 points in october 2007. One year later, sep 2008, it was already in 1250 points, a 20% correction. In november it was in the 900?s and in march to 680. The correction was the almost 50% which is usual for a bear market.

From april untill now, the SP500 has risen to 1100. More than 60% gain from the bottom, but still a long way from the top of the Bull Market. Everybody complained that the markets were rising but the economy was bad, but the truth is not that the markets are efficient, but that they have fallen too much.

Now I believe, as the news are starting to get better, that a new bearish correction is near. The Dubai news can help trigger the bear market, but surely will not cause it.

Hi apologies if I confused you with my choice of language. I used "inability", ie lack of ability, so yes they were not saved. Amplifiying that point under the square of Libran Mars to Capricornian Jupiter the lack of trust was in the relationships between institutions. Now its a different "leg" Ie here the backers are the local Leonine royalty who are refusing to step in to bale out this Aquarian futuristic and "fantastic" scheme (they also brings in the collision with Neptune again!) and it all turns to sand, and creating an insolvency where the banking system had presumed there was some kind of guarantee behind these deals based on these ruling dynasties and their private wealth.

Hi I guess you could argue that the Aries ingress chart set for DUbai shows the scope for financial problems. Its a Fixed sign chart with Leo rising, so still making its presence felt now (following the fixed sign, all year rule).
The cusp of the 2nd is dominated by Saturn in Mercury's rulership (Mercury is 2nd cusp ruler), with Mercury conjunct Uranus, in opposition to this 2nd cuspal Saturn. The opposition receives the Quincunx from Jupiter too ,which is disposed by Saturn.
So we have financial upset and the scope for problems with banking contracts etc with Jupiter, and Jupiter is also ruler of the 8th and ruler of the 5th!!! SO theres a gamble here backfiring??

Mercury as 2nd from 10th also rules the wealth of Dubai's ruling elite I guess.

The World is sinking

There have been a few reports in the newspapers, but today's notice in VG (Link) made me want to add another post. 'The World' in Dubai really is in a crunch. Only one of the 300 Man-made islands are inhabited: "Greenland". The rest of the complex seems to be sinking back into the sea.

Maybe the end of the World is nearer than we know.
150 billion dollars is to have gone into the project..
