We can always blame Neptune, 'tho! :D

Obviously, the outer planets do work! :lala

Anyway, I just wanted to add my opinion on the 'event charts' as basis of a Horary analysis - I think that the use of such charts is perfectly justified in certain situations. Just recently, I used one such chart to answer the Querents question and with success. Of course, it is very important to be certain that it indeed is the best choice of time but, generally speaking- I can agree that sometimes, the moment when a certain issue was first brought up in front of the Querent (i.e. when it became real and present in the Querent's life) can be considered the moment of birth of the Question. Or, if not the Question, then the situation inquired upon.
As a matter of fact, is is a common practice in cases of "lost persons" charts - the moment when someone notices that a specific person is missing is usually taken as the relevant time for the chart. Similarly, we use the time when the news are received or heard when casting "is the rumor true" type of charts etc.

Only, in this particular case, I would certainly give the ascendant to Querent, not the husband.

After all, we should be able to see if the chart is not valid- we need it to be radical, with no strong signs of warning against judgement and, finally, we have the separating aspects to help us see as to how well the chart describes the past events. But, if it all fits and if the Astrologer is sure that it is better to use a specific time and ate in the past then the present moment, then I don't see why it shouldn't work. It is 'an event chart' but so are our natal charts, are they not?! ;-)

And also decumbiture charts are taken for the moment when the illness is first noticed or diagnosed.

OK, it is clear now. When you said that "the direct movement in the middle of the year will spell change", it got me confused and I thought that you meant that she was going to change her mind when Saturn turns direct. Obviously, you meant that the situation would change (that's what happens when one reads too fast.)

Hello everyone ... sorry it's taken me so long to update you on this.

Well, as it turns out, my husband didn't even get the offer of an interview, and it took them 3 weeks to even acknowledge his application and then only after he enquired. A woman - also a friend of my husband's colleague who'd worked at the school before, was very persistent and got the job.

We are not disappointed in the outcome, so I guess our hearts weren't as set on it as we imagined.

Where do we see this outcome, and in particular, what do we make of the Moon exalted in 10th applying to trine of L1? L1 is not in a strong position in the 6th, but the Moon trine should have brought something, shouldn't it?

L10 does apply to sextile of L7 (the competition), but by a very wide orb.

Any thoughts?

Hello Tara

Although I wasn't part of the interpretation discussion I wanted to chime in with the appreciation for the update which you've posted. Horary's so hard to study without the real-life results to feed back into the process.

Glad to hear you and your husband aren't disappointed in the outcome too. That's always good!

About the chart, I agree with your puzzlement. I find it interesting how the waxing trine of Moon to Sun, normally considered so favourable, in this case hasn't been able to produce much that was of use to your husband in gaining the position, despite the Moon being so strongly placed and so essentially dignified.

Perhaps all it represents is that the promise of a good word put in for your husband was in fact delivered. I wondered if maybe the distance of the Moon from perfection of the trine with the Sun, when converted into units of time, with the benefit of hindsight would help to specify whatever good came your husband's way and therefore what this trine of the lights represented.

Seems quite small though given the dignity involved, and given that the Moon also seems to have helped the rival, and to much greater effect.

I can understand that the Sun isn't in a place where it can be noticed and is under affliction, but to me the Moon's dignities don't seem to be as obvious as I would've expected in how things played out. Then again, this is what I like about these points of puzzlement -- they point out what I need to learn more about.

Regards

Hi all

It seems obvious to me that this is not a horary at all, but an eventchart, the event of the proposal of a wonderfull idea.
Now, that the idea is wonderfull and very appealing is clearly shown by the exalted Moon in the 10th, and 10th ruler in 5th (merriment, joy, etc.).

However, ruler of 1st, Sun, is in aversion its own (rising) sign in the 6th, and the Moon being lady of the 12th, both houses of slavery and submission, shows some snags.

Sun, ruler of 1st house applying to Mars, ruler of 9th and end of the matter 4th, seems promising, but if perfection is in the 6th sign as such, it is not good.
If perfection of this conjunction is in the (next) sign of the Waterpourer, (I have no ephemeris at hand at the moment to check this), Mars is no longer exalted and Sun is in Exile. And that is not good at all.

Eventcharts are a different species altogether I think, we cannot judge this chart as if it were a question.

I believe (not completely sure, can't check sources from where I'm writing) that an event ought to be judged by the rising sign (and the Moon I guess), as that is the event itself. That judgment goes by the indications of the Sun, ruler of 1st sign.
He first applies by sextile to Jupiter, essentially dignified in his own Domicile, but in an idle house (8th). Next is the application to Mars.

2 degrees separate Moon from trine of Sun and it was approx. 2 months from the time of the "question" that we decided we really weren't interested in making the move this year after all, so weren't disappointed not to have heard from them.

Sun L1 applies to conjunction of Mars L4 (end of matter) in 5 degrees. It was 5 months after the question that we learned that someone else had landed the job, and as Hermes says, the conjunction doesn't perfect in real time until the next sign.

Anyway this one was a learning experience. Shows how you can't even rely on an exalted Moon trining L1 from the house of the matter inquired after to bring perfection of the matter if other factors are not so favourable.

I am starting to think that with most horaries, in fact, the answer is NO, unless perfection is quite spectacularly supported.

Hello Tara

Thanks for the extra information about how things panned out in relation to that Moon trine Sun aspect, and the timing of it. Very interesting.

A learning experience indeed! It seems to me to be an instructive chart to learn from, and a really good example of 'horary in real life'.

Thanks again, and best wishes.
