25 by Tienka Atema Hi Tanit, In a natal chart my approach would be that a morning rising Venus, as yours is, is a more independent type of energy. If you take Venus as a natural significator of relationships, than this Venus seeks independency and freedom in a relationship. A nocturnal Venus is the more "classic" type of relationship and so it is not surprising that the textbooks from the past favour a nocturnal Venus! www.astrologiepraktijk.nl Quote Sat Feb 26, 2011 9:37 pm
26 by Tanit Hi Tienka - I am glad you agree. I have seen a trend in horary where it plays out the same way as natal. It's interesting that traits we have in natal are often seen in our horaries. For a woman, you might expect Venus to represent your romantic nature; for a man, the Sun. And when a woman asks about a man, the Sun will represent his romantic nature, just as it will in your natal chart (Venus in a man's chart as the woman in his life). I would also follow the general view that Venus nocturnal, occidental and essentially well off (and otherwise unafflicted) will be in keeping with her more natural abilities at companionship, easily expressing love, harmony in relationships, or even selflessness. She is out of character when in other placements, such as in my chart. It's hard to say that when she is under any one of those things that she will have more difficulties in relationships, but I think a combo tends to support that. A lot of day people have "good" Venuses (a well behaved one at least), meaning she has other attributes that help her lack of sect. And then we can say the same about the Sun! If this is a night chart, he is essentially poor, and/or perhaps occidental in the figure (I am guessing?), he will be a Sun out of his nature. Sun prefers the day, oriental in the figure. He might also prefer masculine signs, as Venus would prefer feminine ones. Sun out of sect, etc. might show a few things, depending on how this plays out in a chart, but it could show a lack of action by the man, since men are supposedly the ones more natural in pursuing the female? I have never heard this defined well, but I am basing this on logic, since the Sun is a masculine body and they tend to be the aggressor in relationships. It would also depend on his relationship with Venus, since his movement relative to her will show whether he is going after her or vice versa (the chase again as a theme). Since the Sun is more independent by nature, one would wonder if out of his natural placements he might be more dependent also, but I am not sure how this goes. I guess we've talked about some of this in another thread too, so I will link it here: http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5777 On a related subject, I have never known what to do in same-sex romance horaries, unfortunately! I would think that Venus is still important, even if it were two men, though, or Sun with two women. Venus is still a planet of romance, relationships and love. Venus-Sun could still represent a romantic union (or lack of one). I know Frawley disregards using them in those cases, but I am not sure what other theories are for that issue. 27 by Tienka Atema Hi Tanit, Venus is of course always near the Sun and although she can be in sect, most of the time she is not above the horizon in a night chart, were she should be, in the hemisphere of the Moon. Maybe orientality/occidentality is the key here? and following that thought, in a day chart, Venus oriental is not that bad??? Just my thoughts, no references here www.astrologiepraktijk.nl Quote Sun Feb 27, 2011 9:09 am
28 by Tanit Venus is of course always near the Sun and although she can be in sect, most of the time she is not above the horizon in a night chart, were she should be, in the hemisphere of the Moon. Good point - in charts where the Sun is setting and Venus is occidental, then she might be above the horizon in a night chart. I don't see this very often. Maybe orientality/occidentality is the key here? and following that thought, in a day chart, Venus oriental is not that bad??? Just my thoughts, no references here I certainly don't think Venus oriental is bad, but I may be biased because I hope that most women have a mind of their own! X-Files Astrology, a traditional (I guess mostly Hellenistic?) site, has a lot of useful information on traditional intepretations of Venus via her occidental/oriental placements and sect/lack of sect in the houses, etc. They are where I first learned that "It was thought better for Venus to wait for the Sun to catch her, than for Venus to run after the Sun." http://www.astrology-x-files.com/houses/venus-10.html But they also mention that in those times, a woman had her "place." Venus oriental/out of sect/detrimented or in fall can show scandal, poor taste, vulgarity, etc. I can speak on behalf of my gender and say that with my Venus in every way out of character, I am quite loyal/devoted, not vulgar (I was raised Mormon and feel bad for drinking coffee), and try to avoid scandal. I am attractive and feminine, not butch or gay. I do ask men out more than they do me, but it's mostly because I seem to intimidate them. Anyway, since I have seen a lot more people asking romance horaries with Venus and Mars playing the lack of sextile chase game again (and in mutual exaltation), I thought I'd post! 29 by Anghelos Theon Mh, very interesting discussion! My approach in horary follows the sexual symbolism of Venus/Sun like Lilly declares in VII's questions but i verified also the plausibility of an other connection: Heterosexual Couples: Venus/Mars: Female and Male; Moon/Sun: Mother and Father; Homosexual Couples: Moon/Venus: Female. Sun/Mars: Male. But i agree with who supports the very subordination of co-significators. AD Quote Thu Mar 03, 2011 1:31 pm

31 by Tanit What does it mean '' sun in 7 th house'' love horrary chart.(If a girl asks a question'') Here's my take on it, which others may disagree with or add to, of course. Making assumptions on one thing is always difficult. We often have an opinion on Saturn in the 7th, for example, and we can say things like Saturn in the 7th tends to indicate misunderstandings in relationships, sometimes delays or even denial of relationships, etc., but that is not always the case, since it could just be describing the quesited, such as them being an older person, or it could indicate a relationship that develops cautiously and has outer circumstances that make it harder, etc. As for the Sun, again it has its own signification, like any other planet, which we can generalize but would have to use in tandem with the rest of the chart. Sun is a significator of power, masculinity, life force, self confidence, etc. and it could be describing something about the quesited. You would do well to look at the house it rules for more information on what it represents. The Sun is generally not a difficult influence, but that is not always the case. Lilly says things of Moon-Sun or Venus-Sun in good aspect representing a potential relationship and that them being in angles would especially make that happen, so the fact that it is angular might be good on top of other aspects. In Book II of Christian Astrology on lawsuits, Lilly says: ...or if the Sun and Moon be in the ascendant, these argue the potency of the Querent: if the Lord of the seventh be dignified or qualified as before I mentioned of the Lord of the ascendant, you must judge in like nature on the behalfe of the quesited. I know this is in relation to lawsuits, but this can relate to relationship horaries where the quesited might have the upper hand ("potency"), since they hold a luminary in their house. In natal charts Sun in the 7th house often indicates feeling incomplete in relationships, so I often think of it that way, where the querent feels incomplete without that other person or that they feel they should be in a serious relationship with them (whether or not they should would be indicated elsewhere). Anyone who has had a relationship with someone else's Sun in their 7th house in synastry might know what I am talking about, although it can also turn into enmity in some cases, I suppose. Usually they will think of them in a serious way, such as them being the love of their life or that they can picture a future with them (marriage, etc.). I know horary is not natal, but general signification is pretty universal. Quote Tue Jan 17, 2012 12:24 am
