I don't think that the hour of Venus was decisive, Andrew, considering its mr with Saturn R, L of 4th.
Hour of Venus has a leaning of draw. I'd rather put more emphasis on receptions. Mars, L of DSC, exalts Venus, L of ASC. This usually is a pretty reliable testimony of win (about 70-80%) for the team whose significator is exalted by the opposite one. Mercury, L of day, also exalts Venus. For the home fave to win, we need agreement between L of day, hour and ASC. This was the case with Libra rising, Mercury being lord of day and Venus lady of hour. As I have observed, agreement between l of day and l of hour gives some advantage to the home team, irrespective of whether it is the fave or underdog. It would be too strong to be called a regularity, but it' s definitely a tendency.

The two other games in Scotland played at the same time both ended 0-0. They were played in different leagues, yes. But in a sense it still brings us down to a matter of art and the ability to being able to 'balance things out'?

Venus is 'disturbed' by the presence of a planet in a place where she has disposition/essential dignity, for good or for bad (i.e. a planet disposing the fortunes is considered in a more 'happy' state than one 'visited' by the infortunes) yet Mars gives nothing in return and does not exalt her.
