I agree with this, too. Funny I was only reading something yesterday about the US entry into WWI and how passions were whipped up by propagandists, yet there really was no reason for the US to get involved, not that it didn't have a profound effect on American history.

Tonight we have the third and final pass of the Jupiter-Saturn opposition. I wanted to take this time to comment on earlier predications and comment on the current opposition.

Prediction 1: It seems that public opposition to all kinds of secret databases is a major theme of the J-S opposition.

Comment 1: The Wilileaks phenomenon, whose objective is to release secret databases and information, fits this prediction and was a major news event for latter 2010. Julian Assange was the reader?s choice of Time Magazine?s ?Person of the Year.? Separately, actions taken by governments to limit damage following Wikileak?s release of diplomatic cables on 28-Nov-2010 confirms the importance of the bound of Saturn/Gemini to this prediction. In my original delineation of the May 2000 JSC, I stated Mercury/Gemini in the bound of Saturn/Gemini signified information stored in secret databases. Near the time of the 21-Dec-2010 lunar eclipse at 29GE20, governments took a number of actions in order to prevent future leaks. This was also the peak time of legal actions taken against Assange after the release of diplomatic cables. For this eclipse, Moon 29GE20, bound Saturn/Gemini, signifies the public?s need for gossip, chatter, and details (Moon/Gemini) found in secret databases (Saturn/Gemini). The Moon is conjunct South Node which diminishes; South Node actually diminishes the ability of the public to access this type of information. Both sign and bound rulers of the Moon are players: Mercury/Sagittarius/rx approaching inferior conjunction of the Sun signifies leaks. As sign ruler of the Moon, Mercury?s disclosure of secrets makes the public want to know more. Bound ruler Saturn/Libra, sign of exaltation, is much stronger than Mercury/Sagittarius; so governmental authorities are able to alter computer procedures to prevent such leaks in the future.

Prediction 2: I would forecast that during the J-S oppositions, specifically between May 23, 2010 and March 28, 2011, that Sharon is removed from life support and a state funeral is held. This would be the antithesis of the 2000 JSC for Sharon.

Comment 2: Wiki states that ?On November 12, 2010 Ariel Sharon was moved to his home in the Sycamore Ranch for a 48 hour period the first of a series of planned ?visits? home. The Ultimate plan is to return him home permanently, once it is established that he has the appropriate medical facilities and care.? I rate my prediction a failure but moving his body home was an event similar in spirit given the 4th house signifies not only home but end-of-life.

Prediction 3. the prediction of a blow-back against gay rights marriage rights in the fall 2010 midterm US elections has to be made. I am not sure how to make this more specific ? whether to say that prior civil unions legislation will actually be overturned or that certain states without such laws will enact legislation which defines marriage as exclusively heterosexual.

Comment 3: For the US, a number of legal actions were taken near the 2nd pass of the Jupiter-Saturn opposition in August 2010 in order to prevent same-sex marriage in California. These events are consistent with the prediction, though they took place in the legal system prior to midterm elections. What happened: In November 2008, the state of California passed Proposition 8 which declared that ?only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.? On August 4, 2010, Federal District Court in San Franciso overturned Proposition but stayed the ruling. On August 12, the San Francisco judge lifted the stay which would have allowed same-sex marriages to be performed as of August 18, 2010. But on August 16, 2010, the exact date of the 2nd pass of the Jupiter-Saturn opposition, the US Court of Appeals indefinitely extended the say, effectively stopping same-sex marriages in California pending appeal.

Prediction 4. One of the delineations I made earlier was well-reasoned research on the topic of resource scarcity. One of Cheney?s previous professional colleagues and a member of his Energy Task Force was Matt Simmons, a Houston energy investment banker and peak oil advocate. Simmons published ?Twilight in the Desert: The Coming Saudi Oil Shock and the World Economy" which presented evidence that Saudi Arabia?s public resource figures were intentional deceptions. If that was the thesis, and I might add a significant rationale for Operation Iraqi Freedom, then what is the antithesis? Either revelation of Cheney?s secret energy plan, in line with the earlier trend of public demands for release of secret databases; OR new energy discoveries which negate the original thesis of energy scarcity.

Comment 4. On February 9, 2011, another Wikileaks release published by the UK Guardian confirmed suspicions of Matt Simmons that the Saudi?s did not have as much oil as they claimed and speculated that Saudi Arabian Peak Oil production might occur in 2012. This is a so-so match to my prediction ? I would argue that fears of falsified Saudi Arabian oil reserves as identified by Simmons were one driver behind Cheney?s secret energy plan ? and this release ?revealed? this information. But not perfect. One might also consider the death of Matt Simmons on August 8, 2010 (days before the 2nd Jupiter-Saturn opposition) as an "anti-thesis" event given that Simmons was Cheney's "prophet" of energy scarcity.

Prediction 5. Perhaps there is no better example of the unstoppable impulse of Venus/Gemini than the rise of social networking sites (MySpace, Facebook) and social communication methods (Twitter). Venus/Gemini signifies the love of talk and sexual promiscuity. This is how we get ?sexting? among other things. So now we are getting some challenges to these groups at the J-S opposition.

Comment 5. The suicide death of Tyler Clementi on September 22, 2010, who jumped from the George Washington Bridge after a gay sexual encounter was recorded and streamed live over the internet was one of a series of gay teen suicides in the US this past fall. Clementi?s unfortunate suicide was an event which was widely covered in the media and has triggered a backlash against sexting and other technological methods (here live streaming video) used to publicize sexual acts.

Comment on Distinguishing between the three oppositions

From my prior post: How to handle the significance of the three 1980/1981 JSC charts? Is one more important than another? Really we have nothing to go on here from traditional authors so your guess is as good as mine. Regarding the upcoming J-S oppositions, three of them, because the first occurs in the Pisces/Virgo axis and the second two in the Aries/Libra axis, it seems logical that events of the 1st J-S opposition will differ from events of the 2nd and 3rd which should be more similar. As I said before, Virgo is Greece so it looks like we are getting the Greek/Euro debacle now. Later this summer, perhaps we get China or the Iran confrontation.

Comment: Beyond the theory of choreography which assigns countries to signs, a more basic observation about the three oppositions is that the first occurred in mutable signs; the second and third in cardinal signs. Cardinal signs promise more political change and tonight?s opposition certainly has generated the most political change so far. The current opposition started to set up on January 22 when Jupiter made its Aries Ingress and on January 26 Saturn went retrograde. At this time, Egyptian unrest grew and the Irish coalition fell apart which caused elections to be moved up. If cardinality is so important, then why did the second opposition in cardinal signs last August fail to trigger as many changes as we are seeing now? I suggest it is because of Jupiter & Saturn?s direct/retrograde motion. When Saturn is retrograde, its powers are diminished and its significations are more easily disrupted by planets in hard aspect - here by Jupiter in direct motion by opposition aspect. Assigning the universal signification of institutions and the status quo to Saturn, note the following:

May 23 2010. Jupiter direct, Saturn retrograde, mutable signs

August 16, 2010. Jupiter retrograde, Saturn direct, cardinal signs

March 28, 2011, Jupiter direct, Saturn retrograde, cardinal signs

Consider the most memorable changes in world politics occurred with the May 23, 2010 opposition (Greek debt crisis as the introduction to continuing EU sovereign debt crisis) and the current March 28, 2011 opposition (Mideast turmoil and continued EU sovereign debt crisis) with Saturn retrograde. Besides Saturn retrograde, today?s opposition occurs in cardinal signs so we get both the weakness of institutions (Saturn retrograde) and many geopolitical changes (opposition aspect in cardinal signs). In addition there are a number of other planets either in or soon to be in Aries which opposed Saturn. Besides Sun, Jupiter, Mercury, and Uranus; soon Mars and Venus will enter Aries. Each of these planets signifies forces which oppose the existing political institutions signified by Saturn/Libra.

Hopefully these observations will help us make better predictions about future Jupiter-Saturn aspects when they occur in a series like the present set.

A significant feature of tonight?s third and final pass of the Jupiter-Saturn opposition is Mars. Mars is placed at 26PI36 in the 27th degree of Pisces which is the exaltation of Venus. Venus has just made her Pisces Ingress where she is in her exaltation and at 1PI53 is located in her own term. This is a very powerful Venus, and as a religious significator for Islam, this Venus ruling Mars in her own exaltation degree predicts the expansion of martyrdom operations within Islam as a whole.

This is a very dangerous configuration, given tonight?s Jupiter-Saturn opposition falls along the MC-IC axis set for Tehran (Saturn/MC ? Jupiter/IC) and the following news release from Iran today:
