chances of getting the job? a little help thank u

Hi, I work in the public sector and recently went on an interview for a job within corrections. ( not actual prison) but inmates are around the grounds. I am interested in this area and would like to know what the horary chart I asked the question on 5/12/05 in trenton nj @ 11:34 am states. I know a little about the chart but I get confused here are some of the details. Leo is rising so the sun is my ruler( placed in the 10th house of career) taurus is 10th house cusp (venus) venus is in gemini 3 rd degree and also placed in the 10th house. Saturn is in the 12 and makes a sextile to the sun. I know that the 10th house is supposed to be a good sign and all but would saturn in the 12th represent institutinal setting???? As you can see I am totally lost. thank you

Hi Lunasea, (cute moniker)...I am very inexperienced with horary, but I dabble a bit. It looks like a positive answer to me, sun is making a nice sextile to saturn, and the twelfth does rule prisons, etc. Also, sixth house ruler is capricorn, so saturn is the ruler of that house as well. I am curious as to what your profession is...counseling? Also, how's trenton? I'm from Neptune (new jersey, that is!) but currently live in new york. Miss the ocean! Good luck with the job search!

Saturn

I am curious why you put significance in Saturn in the 12th house, since saturn is not an important significator.
Also, sixth house ruler is capricorn, so saturn is the ruler of that house as well. I
I don?t think that this is important because in my understanding of the traditional rules, an job is the 10th, the modern conection between work and the 6th only applies to our servents, people who work below us

But the moon is ruler of 12th and is her own house, which probably means exactly what you were thinking, a matter regarding a prison.

Mercury is quite high in the chart, and as it represent your second house, I think is a very good sign, as it got a great amount of dignity. Also venus and mercury are in reception. The job is about communication ?

But I am not completely sure about the answer because I cannot see an close aspect or translation between venus and sun, and I don?t know if secondary signs can garantee that.

Hi Yuzuru, I was looking at all aspects to the sun, ruler of the ascendent. I was also under the impression that the sixth house showed our day to day activities, which would include "work", not necessarily career. As I mentioned, I am quite inexperienced at this!

thank you all for responding. initially at first I was using the 6th house as the main significator because of it dealing with day to day work matters. But I suppose I will just have to wait and see. this job would primarily consist of dealing with employee disciplinary actions civil ligitigation etc..... if that makes any difference.

6h house

My understanding of the 6h house, has a lot to do with the discussion of Hannah Arendt about the nature of Labor in the Greece, but is too much to put in here :-)
Basically, the glorification of labour only took place in modern protestant times. In antiquity, labour is very different from work, and is only for the slaves, women (a kind of slave in old ages) and beasts. Is associated with disease, suffering and the pain of live.

If you wanna a job is very clear that is about work, not labor

Of course others may contest this understanding, but the general rule is if you want a job, a promotion, etc, look at the 10th meaning success. A 6th house ruler aspecting you probably don?t mean any good thing, you will probably find the job is only labor (in the greek slavery sense)

Update

Hi, I posted my question a few days ago as to chances of getting the job. I just got called back for a second interview, so while I do not want to get overly excited, I am viewing that as good news. Now there were some questions as to whetther I shoudl of been using the 6th or 10th house significator and I was doing some reading and it said that secretaries are placed in the 6th house. I am currently a secretary and this job would be a higher (promotional) paying secretarial job. So I am still confused as to what house I shoudl be using. Any info or help is kindly appreciated. thanks

6th

I still think that it mean "your secretary" if you had any, and not you as a secretary. It is the person who work for you or beneath you.
But if you really think this job is all about the 6th, well, give it a try. But in general, for me at least, this house only talks when is a "lousy" job.

Hi Lunasea,

Occupation, career, or job is always 10th house regardless of at what level the job is or what you might think of it. Venus is ruler of the 10th house cusp and is therefore the significator for the job.
Good luck with it.

Hi Lunasea,

I?ve only had a quick glance at this chart. It?s not (to me) the clearest chart in the world but for what it?s worth I think it seems promising. The early degree on the MC suggests new career experiences opening up to you, and the Sun in the 10th gives you the will for promotion. The Moon is applying to the sextile of the Sun but before it does, both the Sun and Moon apply to Saturn in the 12th. So I think you are right to see Saturn as the key player in this chart. Generally an application to Saturn in the 12th, even an easy one, has the potential to bring some disappointment and set-back, especially where the Moon is also ruling the 12th and located on the 12th house cusp. But because of the nature of this work as you?ve described it, I?m hoping this describes the essentially 12th-house nature of the work environment, and the fact that there are 6th house- service related issues built into the job.

I haven?t time to think about some other elements worth exploring ? like what Venus is up to? There?s an applying trine to Jupiter but first it meets the square of Mars in the 8th house. Perhaps you can place that? I?ll be very interested in hearing how things turn out for you and I?ll certainly be keeping my fingers crossed for you!

All the best
Deb
