Will I pass my Masters? 1 by Night Sky Hello, I am interested in learning more about horary interpretation, there are several things that I am still fuzzy on, so I'd really appreciate your ideas. In this chart the querent, (me) is Moon, rising in the 1st, increassing in light, swift in motion and free from combustion or malefics. Moon is peregrine, so I am out of my element and not really happy with it. But the other factors indicate a high degree of accidental dignity, such as angularity, increasing in light etc. The 9th ruler Jupiter is trine to Moon. Jupiter is direct, and in triplicity. Jupiter is also fast and free of combustion. The only problem with this trine is that it is a separating aspect. What I am interested here is the future... This puzzles me since separating aspects are supposed to signify the past. Could this separating aspect mean that the masters is already a "done deal"...? The applying aspect is to Saturn via sextile. Saturn in the 3rd rules the "lower mind" but since this degree is a masters in teaching English as a foreign language, then could it be possible that Saturn may be a signifier here? I am not sure because all higher education ought to be 9th house. There is definitely a disparity in this course between "principles" and "practicalities" in teaching. I have to deal with 9th house ideas, but I also have to deal with day-to-day learning and teaching and "lower-mind" logic, which is 3rd house isn't it. Saturn although with high essential dignity exaltation, triplicity and MR with Venus, is retrograde. I don't see much positive coming from Saturn. Saturn as ruler of the 7th and 8th house adds some more questions to this chart. Saturn is the future of this question. Saturn is clearly what I need to understand in this question, but I am still wondering about the separating trine from Jupiter. More details: The course is a part-time online course with a Spanish University. I've used Equal houses, but placidus places MC at 2 Taurus and 9th house at 0 Aries. Interpretation of the 6th house although secondary: I am working full time, and I only have "free time" on Sundays. The reception between Venus and Saturn is of interest. Work is teaching, and the Masters is teaching, it seems possible that they help each other in some way, although of course this is a square, it means that I am pressed for time. Fortune and Node are also here... I really love work at the moment. That is as far as my interpretation has got so far. I promise to share the outcome of the question. The Masters is due to finish in 2012. Quote Sun Apr 03, 2011 4:06 pm

3 by Tanit Do you have to give a defense in order to gain a degree? Saturn in the 3rd can show difficulty in communications or possibly in published works. My guess is that you may have to defend your thesis/oral exam more than once, due to Saturn here and it also being retro - there will be trouble there. The 7th house can show those who oppose you and that is one thing that made me think of the defense part of gaining your degree. In general, Saturn here is ruling most of the planets in the chart and is the next planet being applied to, so it would represent strife in gaining your degree, although a sextile is not quite so difficult. Saturn in the 3rd is also opposite the 9th house and it can show being in school longer than expected. I have that in natal and it took me 8 yrs and several interuptions to gain a 4-5 yr degree. The ASC is late, which I think is because you already know it's up to you whether or not this will happen and the ASC ruler in the 1st with a trine to the quesited still within orb would show this also. This is not exactly something out of your control if you work at it, and Saturn requires a lot of work. The Moon applying to Saturn after a Jupiter trine will carry the light of Jupiter and give it to Saturn but Saturn is retro so it can deny the aspect or require repeated efforts. Moon takes on the characteristics of Jupiter, which is the greater benefic and also the quesited and a co-sig for higher education. That is why I think this will require attention before gaining your degree. Will you pass seems to be up to you, IMO. Quote Mon Apr 04, 2011 1:00 am
4 by Night Sky Thanks for your interpretation Tanit, What you said rings true. I've already failed one assignment and we get three chances to re-submit. I asked this question a while back, but last night, and today I'm worried that the latest assignment will be rejected for whatever reason. I'm afraid that I'll have to re-do that one. 5 by Night Sky I don't think I have to give a defence orally, it's all online. But, yes the thesis worries me terribly. Quote Mon Apr 04, 2011 1:16 am
6 by Night Sky Don't be shy about making a prediction either way. ASC ruler is strong through accident, and in close enough orb to 9th ruler. To me this says YES is the answer. Since the aspect is separating it is something begun but obviously not finished. Will Saturn deny the Moon, in a sextile? Saturn is bad by being retrograde, but is highly dignified otherwise. Could I just say, those people who will approve my Masters, will be slow with it? Saturn is weak by accident, but Moon is strong by accident. Saturn is not my signifier, Moon is. The strength and weakness of Moon says to me that I'll be successful and make headway, even though I might not be in complete charge of the subject. Even though my skill might not be that good. Accident means that things will coalesce in my favour. Either way I'll tell you what happens. Quote Tue Apr 05, 2011 4:35 am

Nightsky, could you give the details of the chart? The MC should stay the same regardless of housesystem used! (I don't see the MC noted in the graph you posted; that could of course be result of equal-house charting). The MC is quite important for your question I guess, because a) it shows the worth of your study, the substance of it, and b) it is the "honour" or recognition (10th house matter!) you get from passing the exam! With MC at 2? Taurus, Venus becomes the significator at 14? Capricorn. Venus is in the fall of the Moon, and disjunct with it. Doesn't sound very good I am afraid... 8 by Night Sky The details are 16th Feb 16:36 2011 Guayaquil Ecuador. The chart I have put up is equal houses. MC is 03 Taurus. Collection of light...? But, one thing is that Saturn does act as a collector of light. Moon applies to Saturn followed by Venus, so there is a connection between Venus and Moon, and since Saturn and Venus are mutually receptive, I see that there is some positive influence here, although I can't say to what extent. 9 by Tanit Don't be shy about making a prediction either way. I don't think it's very solid either way. You asked if it was "in the bag" before, and obviously it's not, right? Your response to the retro Saturn and having to resubmit work is a testimony to that already. A peregrine Moon applying to a malefic suggests a lot of difficulty. This is not a clear yes, but a yes, if you work at it, as I said. The Moon isn't even received by Saturn, other than a weak face (reception usually requires two lesser dignities and also a non-retro planet involved), so this is a more difficult sextile. Accidental dignity can be lucky, but a peregrine Moon is not known for being hardworking on a basic level, or thorough, so I would try to make more time for your studies and put extra effort into it. Lilly calls an ill dignified Moon an "idle person," who "hates hard work," etc. I am assuming this would be for a peregrine Moon also to some extent. Essential dignity is going to describe someone to their core more than accidental dignity will, which is more likely external circumstances and luck. I don't believe that anything is decided ahead of time without free will. If you sit back and do nothing, obviously you're not going to gain a degree. Making predictions on matters where someone can make a solid decision either way is not very helpful, and were I astrologer I wouldn't even answer such a question unless it had a point to it (other than answering something time will tell on its own - yes or no). If you proceed as normal and work at the difficulty, then, yes, it looks like you will get the degree. But I'd much rather focus on the topic of horary astrology than advice readings, or personal readings in general. Many new posters post personal charts and only comment on their own charts, and I don't like to encourage this behavior. Quote Wed Apr 06, 2011 2:41 am

One thing I think we should ask ourselves is what is "collection of light"? Meaning, what is the point of it? Does it mean something is helping or inhibiting you when you reference this term? It is traditionally meant to help bring together planets that would not normally aspect. Saturn is not bringing together anything very significant here, since Venus doesn't appear to represent the degree (that's not really Venus' area anyway), it is acting more as a difficulty. Retrograde planets also are unlikely to receive light anyway, just as a combust planet cannot (this is known as return of light). Some might go as far to say it is acting as a destroyer of influence. It is retrograde and they can show reversals for the bad, which is why I caution using good judgment in your studies. Hopefully its cadency would help. Also, the Moon is leaving a trine to a slightly dignified benefic, which is the quesited, before it runs into such an influence. You don't normally want to give the light of quesited to Saturn like that. Saturn is in general not a helpful planet, right? He's the greater malefic and he's not the quesited. Even if he were, he would still represent something more difficult to attain and possibly less satisfying to gain. Quote Wed Apr 06, 2011 3:09 am
11 by Night Sky Hi Tanit, Sometimes you only realise something has been achieved after it has already been achieved. The Jupiter trine to me signifies the knowledge that I have already got, I learned a lot in the last few months, and feel like I have come to understand most of what the 9th represents. Those principles. I've got that. It's achieved. To get the piece of paper now, which says "master" ok, you are right this is inevitably Saturn's business. I've got to persist here. My first tutor was definitely Jupiter, friendly and enthusiastic and helpful. Now my second tutor is less enthusiastic, someone that takes a lot longer to grade our work, so we are waiting for it. Someone that doesn't seem to care for us as much. I have no doubt that the completion of the task will be a chore. Thanks for your time Tanit anyway. There doesn't seem to be much more to discuss, but I will put into this study everything that I can and I'll not let second chances go to waste, if I have to repeat an assignment and submit it four months later, I will do that. I'll do it with calmness and determination, and without worry. Quote Wed Apr 06, 2011 3:35 am
12 by Night Sky I have recently been through my old horaries and I found a chart which I made a while before the chart that I've posted on here. The first chart on a topic is usually the first one which I use, and yes of course, you always ask again, to see where you are at to try to glean more information. So I am sorry I posted the "2nd" chart on here first. But here is the first chart I asked on this question and I'd like to focus on this for an answer. There are a couple of interesting factors which interest me solely for the purpose of astrological knowledge. Firstly. The answer I give to my question is yes. Saturn in exaltation sextile 9th lord Mercury is a pure and simple yes. Cadence of Saturn simply signifies to me that this Masters is taking time. It's online and it's a 2 year course. Which (I am now getting a lot closer to completion). Interesting factors in this chart include the fact that both Venus and Jupiter go direct within a few days if not a day of this chart, and both may be considered pertinent to the question, in relevant houses. A very interesting factor which I'd like to consider is Moon. She is VOID of course, by some standards (or is she?) In Pisces she is not according to some. Does the Moon's cadence and lack of applying aspect signify anything, even though ASC lord has a positive answer? If so then what can we consider the Moon as? It is a secondary signifier of the emotional state. To me, when I asked this question, I had very little hope with this Masters, I had just started it and it seemed like such a long way off it seemed utterly remote. If you take Moon into Aries the first applying aspect is a trine to Mercury, almost simultaneous with the opposition to Saturn. I should add: After the trine of Moon to Mercury and opposition with Saturn, Mercury applies to Saturn by sextile. Lastly: Moon as Descendant lord, she may signify opposition or help from others, maybe difficulties with relationships interfering in study? ; ) The Moon Saturn opposition does not look pleasant. (But she trines Mercury first). Quote Tue Dec 06, 2011 6:59 am
