by Deb Hi Daz Judging a horary just using Sabian symbols is probably not going to be very instructive on the details. If you want to only comment on that point, that's fair enough, but don't forget that suggestions on interpretation are supposed to explain the related astrological reasoning. Hi Hervaro Rhona was asked not to confirm or deny anything which was unknown to her at the time of the question. She can tell you how she felt at the time, etc; but we want to keep this fully open for new submisions, without giving any of the outcome details away (until it's revealed in full). As a suggestion - how about identifying the theme of the environment, using the symbolism in the chart. That might then lead you towards identifying where she went through a combination of elemental symbolism and traditional rulerships, etc. Thanks for participating Deb Quote Tue Apr 05, 2011 1:07 pm
by Tanit Mercury retrograde seems very fitting for such a topic! I am sure Deb was well aware of the transit before posting, and this is meant as a tribute. What better time to talk about a Mercury retrograde travel chart than when Mercury is retrograde? It only means we must work harder at deciphering the clues. No need to fear, people. 15 by Deb Yes, to be clear, there is no point in saying what you think happened unless relating that to the astrology of the chart - sorry if my comment was capable of being misunderstood. I'm going to remove posts that don't include any astrological reasoning but feel free to repost with your astrological commentary included. Quote Wed Apr 06, 2011 8:50 am
by hervaro ...Mercury retrograde, I 'll say! Ofcourse I hadn't copied my reply to my HD, so I 'll try and "reconstruct" what appears to have vanished in cyberspace... My request for disclosure was meant as a joke (should have put a smiley next to it... ) So, about destination, this is what I gather from Christian Astrology. Taking L9 as the trip's destination: (Venus L9 in Libra) airy (hot and moist climate), windy, somewhere high like on a mountainside or hilltop, where the air is pure and clear, or in sandy fields or hunting grounds; Austria (higher), Vienna, Lisboa, Frankfurt, and some more... (Libra); nice places, near gardens or fountains; Arabia, Austria (Vienna), Poland, Cyprus, or the Champagne in France... (Venus) Definitely a place (citytrip?) where art and culture are present... But the way I first read the horary, 7th house is destination, so we get Moon L7 in Leo: woods, forests, the desert, or places where wild animals live, steep and inaccessible places (? hmm, not a nice destiny!), King's palaces, castles, forts, parks: sounds better!; the Alps, Italy, Rome, Rome, Apulia, Sicily, Siracuse, Cremona, Ravenna, but also Prague or Bristol (Leo); in the fields, (highways) and desert places, or somewhere near water: fountains, harbours, ports, rivers, fishponds, springs,... ; Holland, Zealand, Flanders, Denmark (Moon) Well, must be patient now... I am very curious about how the destination etc will be shown in this chart! Herman http://www.hervaro.be Quote Wed Apr 06, 2011 10:22 am
by Deb Your original post is still showing Hervaro - third from the bottom of previous page The trouble with these lists is that they include just about everything: from harbours to mountains and jungles to royal palaces. It would be a good exercise, I think, to see if the chart can generate more specific details. Of course, it's not all about the location because we don't want to forget the story of what happened on the trip too, and whether it proved to be enjoyable or not. Quote Wed Apr 06, 2011 12:57 pm
by hervaro Your original post is still showing Hervaro - third from the bottom of previous page Ha, indeed! But I wrote another one after you reacted to my pseudo-plea, and that one got lost! It would be a good exercise, I think, to see if the chart can generate more specific details. Absolutely. As I haven't much experience with such specifics, I eagerly await other members' take on them, so I can learn! Herman http://www.hervaro.be Quote Wed Apr 06, 2011 1:58 pm
by Virgo24 I can understand your enthusiasm Hervaro. I appreciate people adding the significators because it really helps me learn and I can see how they reach their conclusions. I think both the 7th & 9th can describe the trip - but understood that the 7th describes the destination - perhaps leaving the 9th to describe the potential held within the trip. However further delving will show various other significators in the chart. R Quote Wed Apr 06, 2011 3:07 pm
by PallasAthene I have some suspicions that the trip did not go ahead at all. This is because the sextile from L7 to L1 is from L1's detriment as Tanit pointed out. This would imply that the querent would have make a lot of effort to make the trip go ahead yet we can see her reluctance in her introduction. Also L9 is actually void, again suggesting nothing comes of it. Interestingly, L9 forms a "yod" by antiscia with L7 and L1 again showing the "secret" or surprise trip... but the aspect realtionship is inconjucnts.. so again this could be testimony that it didn't happen, the adjustments required to make it happen were insurmountable. The 5th cusp of holidays is at the end of it's sign and conjunct the Pleides. Generally malefic, interestingly associated with blindness.. since this was a surprise trip... but also possibly suggesting that the querent's thoughts around a trip abroad are unfounded as she is not seeing properly...and also with "the flood".. so if it did go ahead it got rained out! Both significators of travel, mercury and jupiter are Rx. I think this trip was cancelled and the best outcome is that it was re-booked or re-arranged at a later date when the querent and her husband had communicated properly, but it might be that it just never got off the ground. As to the location, Bath could fit as a Leo city with an association with water (moon and Pleides on 5th) and it suits the culture and refinement of 9th house Libra and Venus. And with the antiscia of L7 in the 3rd this adds to the idea that it's not a far-away, exotic location... and could even be somewhere that the querent goes to regularly. I think she was getting her hopes up that this was an foreign trip as supported by the other testimonies mentioned. Quote Wed Apr 06, 2011 4:16 pm
by PallasAthene Re-reading Hervaro significations I'd also like to propose the Lake District as beautiful (venus/libra) and wild (leo) with water (moon). Quote Wed Apr 06, 2011 4:22 pm
by PallasAthene Ah yes Felipe, so it is. Thanks for pointing that out. In that case, the only astrology I have to support a local trip is 5th conj Pleides which may be rather weak. L7 antiscia on cusp on 5th... the romantic surprise element of the proposed trip? Which seems to be the intention of the querent's husband even if it did backfire. (although Rhona thinks his motive is actually due to his own self-ish/personal need for a holiday) However, L7 antiscia does fall on Algol, another malefic star. Although I have seen it associated with "falling in love" ie loosing your head in that manner. If the querent wasn't already married, I might suggest that the secret intention of the trip was for a proposal. I have also seen moon's bodily placement conjunct Algol in a personal horary which played out as "losing my head" as in losing logical function and not trusting myself. In the outcome, I did not take an action which would have been very beneficial. I looked at Algol, thought o no and lost my nerve. It was a profit horary and I would have won a lot of money had I placed the bet. Live and learn : ) But in this case moon was just moon and not a significator. So, L7 conjunct Algol by antiscia.. the querent's (not so secret) fears around taking a holiday at this time which she has already confirmed. From the personal experience above, if she "makes" some time and clears the decks she will have a lovely time. But, I don't think she will, so she will loose out on something beneficial. If the trip did go ahead, perhaps she fell pregnant, with the 5th house association? : ) There was certainly a lot of potential for romance in the trip. And actually, it could indicate losing her head over the destination of the holiday so maybe I do have another testimony for a local trip over a foreign trip after all : ) As we often find, the chart is supporting the information already supplied by the querent. The opportunity is clearly shown in the sextile of L7 to L1. It is the reception which will show if that opportunity manifests. It is coming from a place of detriment, no power to act, so it would seem that the trip cannot take place. But the reasons for that are not clear, at least to myself, apart from a general muddle in arrangements shown by mercury and jupiter, natural significators of travel, being Rx. (fully expecting to be completely wrong and very much looking forward to the outcome!) Susie Quote Thu Apr 07, 2011 10:01 am
by Tzadde I was interested in looking at the start of the holiday, the destination and the general circumstances of the holiday. Thus I'll focus on these three points. 1. The start of the trip is shown by the planet in 9th: Mars is first after the cusp of 9th, so I'll take it as an unsettled beginning. Lots of thrills, I guess. 2. The destination is shown by the 12th House, as it is the 4th (end) of 9th (travel). There we see Sagittarius, with Jupiter in Aries, in his term / bound and retrograde, which seems to be a very hot setting and annoying for the Saturnian querent, as Aries is Saturn's fall. The weather was too hot for her taste, so it must be in a country where summer seems to be all year long. Somewhere in the Southern hemishphere, as Sagittarius tells me it's a very exotic place, where dessert seems to be anywhere (Aries and Sagittarius are both hot and dry, these seem to fit the description). Somewehere in Africa? Aries is wild, so is Africa. 3. General circumstances of the holiday trip. I look at the 9th ruler, Venus in her domicile, and Moon as the general co-significator of the overall situation and the particular significator of the husband. I think the querent finally adjusted to the entire situation, not in daytime, when the Sun is killing any breath, but in nighttime, when the air is cooling off and helping her to appreciate the beauty of landscapes. Moon in Leo suggests that nothing has changed too much (being in a fixed sign) in the entire situation. Your husband seemed to be self confident in that place and well adjusted in both day and night times. The general significators of travel, Jupiter and Mercury, are both retrograde, so there were delays in various points of departure. Like Pallas Athene, I expect to be wrong and waiting for the outcome. Amor ordinem nescit. Love does not know order. - Saint Jerome - Quote Fri Apr 08, 2011 2:42 pm
by sun_flower I focus two Points of this Chart. First , The Saturn, which is the lord of Ascendant the querent. He is at 9th house , in his exalt ,the moon just apply to him ,confirming a prerequisite of this question "Will this be a good trip" that querent Rhona Grant have gone to a oversea or had a holiday trip, and describes the situation for this trip in other words Where she have been to. Saturn is with relation to old, reminiscent place and located in Libra the air element sign adding maybe high. A scenery picture of Wuthering Heights comes to me. Second point is the retrograde mercury .He is closed to the Sun the 2nd house of her husband. Mercury Combusted ,received or been under a power or help form the Sun the authority, leader, parents .Jupiter placed well and strong at Aries 0 degree in her second house and her husband 8th house, all of that refer to Money ,Own or Other's . How Happy or Good trip it is ! Because it is free or at little cost. Quote Mon Apr 18, 2011 1:36 am
