Earthquake on Rome for 11th May?!

1
Good day everyone!

I have a particular question, maybe difficult.
According to Raffaele Bendandi (a professed "man of earthquakes") tomorrow (11th May) Rome will be hit by earthquake that destroying it in heavy manner. The seismologists havent captured any waves or proof about this earthquake but in Italy there's fear and panic for many coincidences.

LINK for an idea: http://scienceray.com/earth-sciences/hy ... on-may-11/ or http://weeklyworldnews.com/headlines/32 ... -may-11th/

So. I saw event chart but the elements, tipical for other earthquakes (Haiti, Japan, Chile) are absent except for Pluto-Saturn square.

Neptune and Chiron - for me principal cause of earthquakes - dont form any relevant aspects. In Astromap, Rome seems in connection with Chiron and MC.

I find it rather interesting. Europe is relatively small in a global measure and not the most active area in a seismological sense. The quake also borders to the Mediteranian Sea. This is an infrequent event and although location is a bit out, there is still reason to give the matter some thought.

There was the waxing half moon at 19 Leo last night that made me think. Funny, but Spain seem to be hassled with troubles with the Eurovision transmission, too. I was monitoring the waning half moon 14 days ago but had got my eyes on San Francisco. I think the scan for this area has to be picked up again in the middle of June or July.

It would be intersting to see the details of his original prediction ( but if he died in 1979 I suppose it won't be found on the internet), to see what astrological configuration he used and what fault line he was looking at. If the data could also be applied to the Spnish town it could then be described at an accurate prediction. But if it didn't we could only mark it down to co-incidence.

Here is the chart for the recent EQ in Spain on May 11:
Image
It is an interesting chart in view of the Moon in the beginning of Virgo. This degree was being watched when we were monitoring potential afterquakes from the the 8,8 Richter earthquake in Japan on April 11. The exaltation degree of Mars in on the lower Midheaven with Mars just having entered Taurus. And notice the stellium on the Descendant involving Jupiter (Spain).

It's a coincidence.

First of all according traditional geography, Spain stays under Sagittarius, while Italy is under Leo, so no traditional astrologer could change one for the other, near or not.

Second, the person in charge of keeping Bendandi work, never said Bendandi foretold an earthquake for May 11, 2011. Of him they have just a list of dates, and what they are nobody knows, and some of these dates are safely on our back. So it is not really clear who is the author of this story, probably someone who works in 2012 set.

Moreover Bendandi according Wikipedia used some extra planets never discovered, which he called with some Fascist name: Dux, Rex, Italia, Roma, so hardly we can get something real from this.

It could be. I would not have thought of looking for an earthquake in either Spain or Italy on the basis of the chart above. Neverless, the event is there and it does provide the opportunity to do more research on either syzygys or the earthquake history/ cycles in the area.

5,1 Richter is not a particularly large scale earthquake, but it is still infrequent to Europe. The buildings in the Mediteranian must be vulnerable and it is a tragedy for those people involved.

You make some good points, Margherita, and I do think we should approach the matter with the right scepticism.

The essential point, i think, is this.
The two presumed dates of earthquakes (next 5th April 2012) according to Bendandi's method and the "urban legendary" astrology of this author are unfounded.

So, my interest was about plausibility of method considering a chart - for Rome - deprived of most important aspects and transits indicating natural catastrophes (in parallel with previous earthquakes) except if we are considering the opp Moon-Neptune and other considerations about Moon like explains this article (http://astrologia.astrotime.org/Bendand ... crife.html) in italian.

Very interesting.
Al-biruni - for example - considers the southern and south-east Spain (Andalusia) like Virgo in The Book of Instruction in the Elements of the Art of Astrology, chap. about Signs.
