Hello:
I would like your advice on setting up electional charts for putting in job applications & setting up time for interviews.

- Is it more benefical to have the 10th house ruler in 1st house or 1st house ruler in the 10th house?

- Is it better to have the 1st house ruler &/or Moon in 6th house or 7th house (I had though having the sigs in 6th house(work) would be good, but I saw a recent post stating 6th house is not so good).

- Since it is difficult to have a "perfect" chart, is it better to have weak sigs w/ connections between them (ie. receiptions, in each other houses) or stronger sigs w/o connections? I usually priortize connection between sigs compared to strength, if one is forced to choose one vs. another.

The most important planet when looking at such elections is the Moon. It is almost imposible to have the perfect chart but if you pay attention to the Moon it will help. Here is a link to some good tips by David Plant regarding the Moon in electional astrology.

Thank you Sue. I am taking care of to make sure the last aspect of the Moon is a easy aspect (ie. trine, sextile, and maybe cnj) and minimize if not avoid any negative aspects to the Moon from the Electional time.

As there are similarities between Electional & Horary, I wanted viewpoints on which is better, having the 10th house sig in 1st house (meaning the job comes to you, or the hiring manager likes you) or 1st house sig. in 10th house.. (you are doing the job, you like the job, etc.).

I also wanted viewpoints on whether it was a good idea for sigs to be in the 6th house or not..

It would be helpful for me to find out other practioners personal experiences...

I think I will be known as the "6th basher", oh, whatever, everything in the name of Tradition :-)
I adivise you to read the Houses of Heaven by Deb Holding in the site, very instructive.

In what kind of elections you would use the 6th house ?

To get the favour of your employees : if you think they all already hate you before they meet you, do an election with a good conection between you and 6th ruler (people beneath you). But I don?t recall this been done, except in talisman and magickal work.

Maybe to go to the doctor: put the ruler of the 6th in an cadent, neutral house like 3rd or 9th, and put the doctor?s ruler real strong.


You have to see what sistem you are using, modern or tradicional. Horary is tradicional, so it isn?t a good thing to use the 4th house as "the mother", or 6th house as "work". Although the 4th house has some problematics, the 6th is not "work" is "labour"

When we got a job, we want a paycheck and something interesting to do, we don?t want to labour. That was a clean cut division in the ancient days, that got blurred in modern, capitalist times, when all work turned into labor.To the greeks labor comes from the necessity of survival, and endless process of laboring and consuming, where there is no opus, no creation, and no results, because the labor is consumed in its own methabolic work. So the labor is the work of the beasts (small cattle) which men put it to work. Was also the work of women and slaves, the household labor, which the greek restricted to the private sphere, so the Free Men wouldn?t have to be strive to live, like barbarians and animals. So the 6th house, by analogy, is clearly the house of small beasts, that can be put to work for us, of slaves, and of work which is not fulfilling in any way but to attend the necessity to live (like cleaning the house).

The analogy with disease is also clear: the process of laboring is of pain and suffering, because is the natural state of the animals and barbarians without civilization. Is also the "natural" process of birth, which was very painful without an epidural ! The labor is the survival of the individual, but the "labor of birth" is the survival of the species, remind of Adan and Eve.

HI, I TOO, had some doubts about for example a secretarial job being given emphasis in the 10th house. Though I have read that the 10th house should be driven for more managment type positions, not your everyday employee. So I would say if your going after a high or mid level managment position use the 10th but if your starting out in your career I would use the 6th. Not every job we hold is going to be a "career" but sometimes a job can be just as satifying.



I understand that if the ruler of the 10th is in the first the job will come easily with little or no stress. But if the ruler of the 1st is in the 10th the job will come but with effort on the querents part. I am awaiting the results of an interview as I have the ruler of the 10th in the 10th and the ruler of the first in the 10th. Sounds good but we'll have to see.


I am also curious as to the competition I may be facing. Neptune on the Decesendant. does neptune still play a role in horary since it's not a traditional planet.

ANY job you are seeking is signified by ruler of the 10th house. Doesn't matter whether it is secretary or CEO of the company or cleaner for the company. The 6th house signifies your employees - i.e those people you employee. It wouldn't bo good to see the ruler of the 10th in the 6th as this may mean that the job will be quite difficult for you and not very pleasant. The 6th house is a house of weakness and debility.

Generally, the outer planets are not used in traditional astrology. However, if one is on an angle it is worth having a think about what it may mean.
