I'm new to horary myself, Windhorse, so I am still very much "feeling my way." I think you are dead on about her interest in family money and family possessions (which Tom also picked up on with the 2nd House Moon).

I think she might be feeling "out in the cold" in the sense that the "baddies" who sued, WERE successful in getting some money out of my parents, by way of settlement. By not joining the litigation, she missed out! Now she wants her "slice of the cake."

That is not to say she doesn't also have (or had?) an emotional fixation on my brother. Seems like she missed out there too! So she is probably pretty angry.

One fact I haven't mentioned is that during their "friendship" she appearently related many stories of UFOs to my brother. She had experienced several (!) alien abductions. I think this was enough in itself for him to reach the conclusion she is "mad." (he being a very pragmatic and down to earth Virgo!!)

She is, at the very least, eccentric and "highly unusual." This would fit with an afflicted Uranus in Pisces in the 7th. I also wonder if the conflict (including the legal conflict) between my brother and her, is literally described by the square between Mars at the IC (brother) and Uranus in the 7th (her)??

Which brings us back to the fundamental problem the chart throws up: by which House is she signified?

If you reread my previous post, you'll find that I treat her as signified by the 7th. As far as I know, in horary the traditional old rulers of the signs are used as main significators. That is Mars for Scorpio, Saturn for Aquarius and Jupiter for Pisces. The newer "outer" planets which were of course not known at the time horary rules were developped, are though not totally neglected, but may serve as co-significators of "their" modern signs, Pluto as co-significator for Scorpio, Uranus for Aquarius, Neptun for Pisces.

Thus, in this chart the main significator for the woman would be Saturn. Saturn in 12 describes her being hidden, unknown, mysterious at the time you asked the question. But she still is not a "hidden enemy" in the sense of the 12th, as her existence is known. And Saturn is in opposition to you, the Sun. (She is in not so pleasant contact with you.) Her co-significator is Uranus as the second ruler of Aquarius, the sign at the cusp of the 7th. Uranus is right in her house. She is most concerned about herself. The dispositor of Uranus in Pisces is Jupiter in the 2nd. I would read this again as her being mainly concerned about herself and money of you or your family. (Jupiter also rules the 4th via Sagittarius.) That is why I described the aspects between Mars and Saturn and Mars and Uranus as regarding the relations between her and your brother.

By the way, between Saturn and Uranus on one side and Jupiter on the other side there are several prohibitions and refranations, but also translation of light. I do not know how to read such contradictory information. So I cannot see, if she might or might not get any money.

New to horary, if not to astrology, anyone experienced may correct me, if I tell something wrong.

Tom (and anyone else who might still be interested), I'm wondering about whether or not it was correct to use the 12th House as the significating house in this chart. I've just been reading some of Frawley's stuff, and I now don't think this question was truly "12th House." He would put secret and unknown enemies in this house. So if I was asking: "Who is the mystery person who is spreading nasty rumours about me at work?" I would use this House.

But here, although the mystery woman was "unknown" in a sense (at least when she first contacted me), by the time I cast the horary, I actually knew her real name, address, and phone numbers, also the name of the business she owned. I had had 2 or 3 telephone conversations with her, and she had wanted to arrange a one-to-one meeting with me. (Of course, I didn't know "who she was" in the sense of her connection to me, or her purpose).

I think that's why I saw her as "7th House" when I did the chart. Any thoughts on this? If my understanding of Frawley is correct, it doesn't seem to me that there are many situations where you would look to the 12th as the signification of the matter: except, perhaps, if the identity of the person in question was completely unknown (as in my example above).

Well, this is why it's always a good idea to think about which house will signify the people in the chart before we note the time down.

I am not so sure about your last comment. I did a chart back in 2003 after I had a job that went bad on me. I can't remember the specifics but it turned out that the ruler of the 12th house was involved, I think with Mercury, which both Deb and I interpreted as malicious gossip from an unknown enemy. Now since I knew everyone on this project, the unknown enemy must have been someone I knew and it turned out that someone who I thought was a friend really was stabbing me in the back. So I don't limit the 12th house to people who we don't know, just to enemies that are not known opponents. These belong to the 7th house.

I still think your whole chart has a lot of 12th house stuff connected to it.

Well this was my first horary chart and so I suppose I hadn't really thought about the signifying house before I cast it. It hadn't occurred to me to use a house other than the 7th....

The interesting thing about the chart is that, either way, you end up in the 12th house. Taking her as the 7th, ruler Saturn is placed exactly on the 12th House cusp. That was the first thing I noticed (and I was considerably alarmed by it!)

The other thing, I suppose, is that by the time I did the chart I absolutely did not trust her, and did not like her. whether I would have called her an open "enemy" though, I don't know. I certainly believed she was "up to no good"." how does one define an enemy anyhow??

The other distinction I would make, too, with your situation, is that in yours, the "enemy" could have been any one person out of a group of people. Whereas in my case, I was only ever asking about one person -again I think that's why I went straight to the 7th.

just a bit of extra follow-up on this. was just talking to my mother about this "mystery person". i asked my mother about what SHE thought the woman's motivation was and the first thing she said was "I think she wanted money out of us." (us = "the family")

so hats off to those who picked up on the financial aspect in the horary.
