Hello all,

First post here; about a subject I've been interested in for a little while now. Even though they are on a relatively small scale; I think these events would qualify for this forum since they both dominated the news for their area at the time of occurrence.

Recently we have had two similar tragic events in the US involving crashes at air shows: the first was in Reno, Nevada; and the second was less than 24 hours later in Martinsburg, WV.

The event charts, since they are less than a day apart would have similar aspects except for the moon, house cusps, vertex, arabic parts, etc: so it would be interesting to isolate what it is about the two charts that would indicate differences and similarities. I am unable to post any links to charts and can only give the info, unfortunately:

1st event: 4:15 PM, 9/16/11, Reno, Nevada, USA.

2nd event: 2:30 PM, 9/17/11, Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Differences and similarities:

In Reno, the pilot and 10 spectators were killed; in WV, the pilot was the only fatality.

* In Reno, there was no fireball/explosion (VERY unusual); in WV a large explosion far removed from bystanders.

* Reno seems to be pointing towards a mechanical failure while WV looks like pilot error as the cause.

* In both cases, vintage planes, possibly heavily modified, were flown by veteran pilots who were well respected in their field.

I have other things to add, but will wait until I know if other posters are interested.

A warm welcome to Skyscript. Good move too in starting out here in the mundane forum. Maybe I am biased.

There may well be links in these two charts. Personally though I am not a great fan of delineating event charts as I dont see them as astrological generators of events but rather the final trigger.

Obviously, the USA is a very big nation and fatalities are occuring every day. Still, I thought it would be useful to look at the previous pre-lunation chart (full Moon chart) before both these accidents located for the US capital in Washington DC.

Here is the chart:

I have displayed the chart in whole sign houses rather than the more familiar quadrant house systems.
The first thing that strikes me is the two houses associated with travel and movement (the 3rd and 9th) are disposited by the two planets in the chart that lack essential dignity. Mars is in its fall in Cancer and Venus in its fall in Virgo. In mundane astrology the people are represented by the Moon and also the ASC sign. The Moon here disposits and receives Mars in its sign by trine. However, the nature of Mars is fundamentally weakened and in traditional terms corrupted here. Mars disposits the 8th house (whole sign) with Uranus placed in the house increasing the potential of sudden unexpected accidents. This seems to set up a connection between the American people and this debilitated Mars. A Venus in fall here disposits and trines the MC and disposits a Jupiter Rx. The presence of Venus in the first house brings this notion of loss to the people.

One unfortunate indication in this chart is the Moon being square the nodes. Many ancient astrologers considered such an aspect as very malefic for a planet and most strongly in regards the Moon.

The MC is also within one degree of the malefic fixed star Algol.

I think the pre-lunation chart sets the basic tone for misfortune involving the general public. The focus Venus/Mars in fall ruling the 3rd/9th also puts an emphasis on travel/communication.

PS This chart can of course also be applied to other issues too. For example it also fits the rough patch on the US markets with the 2nd house ruled by a debilitated Venus representing the poor state of US finances and the 8th house ruled by a Mars in fall representing quite literally other people's money and the US debts.

I can see how the mundane chart did set the tone with the maligned 3rd and 9th houses. I'm guessing the "trigger" in both of these cases was the Uranus opposition to a stellium in either the 8th or 9th house.

We also had a satelite with about the size of a bus fall out of the Sky last week. It seems topical in terms of things falling to Earth. Nancy, feel free to report of the astrology of any mundane happening that attracts your attention! Imagine what it would be like if we had members reporting the headlines and highlights from events all over the world!

I was lucky enough to be able to see the UARS satellite as it passed over Maui last Thursday night. The astronomy club here had it timed perfectly: 6:49 PM on the nose. It looked like a little glowing golf ball and took only about 15 seconds to streak across the sky. Very cool!

Regarding the Reno event; I wanted to add that it had a sort of "doppelganger" from years earlier; equally bizarre but with a much more fortunate outcome:

At the same air show in 1998, the exact same kind of critical mechanical defect (trim tab falling off) occurred in the same kind of plane, in the same race! But this time, amazingly, there was no crash. Here is the chart for that incident (assuming the start time for the heat is the same):

The similarities: a long conga line of planets in the 8th house (incl the ruler - once again Mercury exalted), the cardinal cusps in almost the same place, and vertex in the 7th house. But this time, Jupiter is opposing rather than Uranus.
