Reading about V?clav Havel makes me think that the best leaders are often those who dont set out in life to assume power but rather have it thrust upon them due to the moral force of their character and personal commitment. Sadly its a rare set of circumstances that brings such men and women to public life. Nelson Mandela is another obvious example. Loved the image of Havel scootering through the Presidential palace! I hope some of this independent spirit lives on in the Czech Republic as his legacy.
