Remedial Astrology Seminar #1: Decumbiture & the Consultation Chart

Many techniques from traditional medical astrology are transferable to a ?general practice? of astrology. In this Seminar, medical herbalist Marcos Patchett will demonstrate how to use traditional astrological methods to guide diagnosis, prognosis and prescription for medical issues, and show how these same techniques may be utilised in mainstream astrological practice. The seminar will cover how to use astrological techniques to
? help identify the causes & predisposing factors in a disease or problem situation, whether physical (biomedical), humoral, external, or psychological;
? assist in predicting the course of events and likely outcome;
? determine the severity of an illness, whether an illness is more mental than physical, where the symptoms manifest, and to which body parts or processes treatment should be applied;
? & most importantly: which treatments will benefit, what to treat, and how to derive helpful and practically useful advice and recommendations from the decumbiture or consultation chart.

Who? The seminar is open to all students and practitioners of astrology. Attendees should already have a sound working knowledge of planets, signs and the traditional aspects (including antiscia), essential and accidental dignities, reception, and sect.

Marcos Patchett is a medical herbalist at Neal?s Yard Remedies? Therapy Rooms in Covent Garden and Notting Hill, Archway Clinic of Herbal Medicine in North London, and Ravenroyd Farm in Yorkshire. He provides herbal help for a wide range of conditions. Marcos gained the London School of Astrology?s Certificate in 2006, since when he has become a dedicated student of old-school (classical, medieval and renaissance) astrological techniques. He now uses traditional medical astrology to provide guidance and refine working diagnosis, prognosis, herbal prescription & lifestyle/dietary recommendations - strictly filtered through common sense and clinical judgment - alongside the modern Western biomedical/pharmacetical model, in his Neal?s Yard (London) and Ravenroyd Farm (Yorkshire) practices.
Marcos achieved a scholarship to study herbal medicine at Middlesex University in 2001. He was awarded the Herb Society?s national ?Best 3rd year student? Prize in 2004, graduated from Middlesex in 2005 with first class honours, and received the Elsevier publisher?s prize for herbal pharmacy. Over the past few years he has conducted several talks and workshops and written a few articles to promote herbal medicine. Marcos practices herbal pharmacy, producing remedies for his herbal practices from his own herb garden in London, and he contributed recipes and research to the second BBC series of 'Grow Your Own Drugs'. In 2009 he set up the UK's first dedicated Western Herbal Medicine HIV support clinic, with fellow medical herbalist Lynne Hulka, on Saturdays at the Archway Clinic of Herbal Medicine in North London. Marcos currently practises in London and Yorkshire, whilst conducting ongoing observation- and pharmacy-based research into the uses of herbal medicine in HIV. He is also writing his first book, on the medical history & usage of chocolate.

Has Marcos published any articles or books (for those of us who can't make be there for reasons of geography)? Will the seminar be recorded? Apart from Graeme Tobyn's book, and Oscar Hoffman, I can't think of much recent how to read a decumbiture material. Any reccommendations in this department , Deb?
