Happy New Year! Is the moment radical?

As the two-headed god Janus leads us through the gate of old year to new, people all over the world, close and far, are sending one another greetings and wishes for that the new tidings will be prosperous. I often wonder whether these wishes have any power or whether it were better that they reflected the gravity of the moment. As a practicing horary astrologer with a rush of clients all asking the same question within a compressed period of time, "What is 2012 going to be like for me?", I wonder whether the moment is truly radical?
The chart above is cast for my location, but if you were living in London the calendar change would be one hour later. The Moon would have advanced half a degree, but the chart would, excuse me saying it, be basically the same, plus/minus a few adjustments.

The luminaries are joined to outer planets. They are angular. The Sun is with Pluto and the Moon is with Uranus, imposing challenge and change. There is that pending half-moon as Luna implies to her square to Sol, and I thank that the aspect is cast through signs of short ascension. The hard aspect is a situation of stress and crises, yet when the square through signs of short ascension will convert to a sextile this indicates someone making a defensive chess-move that saves the day. Those are my wishes for the New Year. The world seems to be full of challenge, but there is still that option of someone catching the ball and solving problems. I hate to be that guy especially on the first day of the year but if in this chart someone is asking about the wishes and stuff -- the Moon applies to the Sun, L11 for aspirations, and then to L1, Venus. But since the Sun is in the Moon's Detriment, Venus in the Sun's Detriment, and the Moon in Venus' Detriment, we have to say those aspirations are going to be frustrated.

Job/income, all kinds of partnerships -- not so good.

But generally planets are in OK positions, the luminaries angular, Mars cadent, Saturn exalts in a succeedant house. So it's good news/bad news type of situation.

Thanks for the feedback! Is it possible to separate the individual from the collective when everyone is asking the same question? I had a young woman call me one evening and ask me: "Can you tell me what is going to happen to me this evening? Am I likely to meet someone?" I did my best, although I had my thoughts on whether the question was properly founded. Two minutes later the phone rang again and the girl stood next to her at the same party called back and asked me the very same question. My reply at this point was that the problem could not be resolved. In a way this is indicative of the problem.

I don't see any problem with that. If your client is serious about his/her question then just do your job and read the chart. If you read a chart for someone then it becomes invalid for any other person to ask a question until something changes? I don't think so.

Well, that is, if that other person is not sitting beside the Querent and yelling "Me too! Me too! I want to know the same thing!" -- then it probably would not be a good use of horary. But if two separate people are asking their own question, in all seriousness, why there can't be two similar charts? You are going to decide when it is the right time and when it is not? Now THAT would be "tampering" with the stars.

Besides, I have to say "am I going to meet anyone tonight?" or something is not a good use of the horary. Now, "will I meet someone special?" or "am I going to marry this year?" or something like that would be more serious. Also, a question about tonight compells you to do some kind of micro-astrology because the time frame is impossibly limited.

The problem with people is, they oftentimes don't know what they're asking so you could be looking for the wrong significators. Questions that are all over the place usually spell trouble. The Querent asks about what's going to happen but in fact s/he thinks about getting the raise or getting a new job, or getting married being desperate etc etc

So probably if people ask you the same what-will-happen you could ask them what is their main focus -- money, career, relationship, kids, health etc So you can work with something.

Whatever you do, do not mix methods. The last thing you need is try to locate the significator of your missing cat in your nativity (well, tbh I'm not sure if that's even possible).

I got a New Year one from a friend on Dec 29th and the focus is on education (PhD studies) because she's planning on starting over, as she's had bad luck since coming to the west coast, and moving with her fiance, wherever she is accepted and decides to go (most likely southeast part of the US). The Mercury-Mars square showed up in the 9th house - Mercury rules the 9th and squares Mars in the 9th from the 12th!

Did you have any that dealt with Mercurial matters, since I see you have Mercury in the 3rd square Mars in the 12th in yours?? Her PhD is in Mercurial matters - health sciences. She's also a native Mercury in Virgo conjunct Saturn.

We often see trends in questions, such as a ton of new romance horaries during specific transits. There are usually themes going on with these people, though. Not everyone asked a horary that day! I asked my New Year question early last month, during the Moon in Aqua (I had a Mercury-Mars square too and Mercury was retro, and I am probably going to be commuting very far).

But I am also using her Solar Return, profections, and relocation astrology for the best advice. She has 5 different locations to choose from and I worry on that Mercury-Mars square.

This is different because the question has specific focus. My first horary client in 2012 was regarding the whereabouts of a missing person. I do believe that the horary can be judged when the question is coming from the correct courner and correctly founded. I refuse judgement when the occasion could be compared with an idle throw of dice. I do agree with janders36 who suggests that the general future of a person for the year ahead could more specifically be read from the nativity or directions there within.

It seemed more so that the horary was focused on the New Year to me, but she was hoping her moving would improve the year. Everyone who asks a New Year sort of question always has something they are thinking about, even if they don't mention it. Like my New Year horary had me curious about romantic prospects for the year, although that wasn't all I wanted to know, and so the horary showed that.
