Will I get a substantial raise/bonus this year?Significator? 1 by Taurus12 My friend has asked a question "will I get a substantial raise or bonus this year" I'm a bit new at reading this type of question. Would I assign the raise or bonus as her second house? Or am I looking at the 11th house which is the 2nd house for the job? I researched online but couldn't quite come to a conclusion. Also, do I need to use a 10th house significator for this type of question? I have Mercury significator for both querent and quesited. Sometimes the hardest part of horary is trying to find the right significator! Quote Thu Jan 12, 2012 4:21 am
2 by Konrad I tend to stay away from derived houses, so I would use 2nd house and lot of Fortune to show any money coming to the querent. The chart can sometimes point you in the right direction though through aspects and placements. Quote Thu Jan 12, 2012 10:49 am

Sometimes the hardest part of horary is trying to find the right significator! L11. You should consider L2, of course, if it's not utterly debilitated, or afflicted etc esp. by L10/L11, prohibitions etc, the usual stuff. L10, unless it is in the 1st or 2nd House, or very prominent in the chart, is relevant only tangentially. Quote Thu Jan 12, 2012 1:33 pm
4 by Tanit I agree with Konrad that significators alone are not always the best bet, but in general the 2nd is the house of gain and income. It describes your income as a whole, including potential raises. I would not necessarily use the 11th house (2nd from the 10th), although supposedly it can describe your salary and it is possible it could be prominent in your chart - it is a positive influence anyway. The benefics (Venus and Jupiter) are co-sigs in wealth/gain indicators also, and the Sun seems rather significant in career advancement questions in general. Quote Fri Jan 13, 2012 2:41 am
5 by Seiko The 2nd House and the Lord thereof is important, of course, but that's not what the question is about. Let's take a will-I-get-the-job question -- if L1 is seriously afflicted, the Querent could get sick or something, so that he or she cannot go to the interview and someone else gets the job. Yet the fact that the Querent is happy and obnoxiously healthy does not mean (by itself) that the Querent will get the job. The Querent can be broke (L2 debilitated) but he or she still can inherit a million dollars. So while there is a connection, you can't judge this question by L2 alone. Quote Fri Jan 13, 2012 9:05 am

Yeah, I wouldn't discount the 11th completely since it shows general good luck for the querent and the benefics placed there or receiving the querent from there would be a good indication for me. 7 by Clinton Soule How about posting the data or the chart for all to see, then we might get to the root of the matter? Date Time Place I'd love to see it! Clinton Garrett Soule Quote Fri Jan 13, 2012 10:14 pm
8 by Taurus12 Not sure this chart looks so good if the money is the 2nd house or even the 11th as a significator. Anyway, her significator is Mercury in Cap and conjunct Pluto. I don't normally use Pluto but since it's conjunct the significator I take this to be a bad omen. I don't think I'd read it as being in the 4th house either, looks like 5 degrees from the cusp. So no essential or accidental dignity, peregrine. The 2nd house is ruled by Venus in Aquarius, it's in the 6th house. Cadent. Now if I'm not mistaken Venus is not considered peregrine because of the mutual reception with Saturn (correct me if I'm wrong). Of course I'm not sure that's really helpful in this case. No aspect between Mercury and Venus. 11th house significator is the Moon. Moon is peregrine and in the 12th house! Another bad sign. No aspect to Mercury again. The moon is opposing Venus. Not sure if that's kind of like saying yes she'll get a raise but not what she hoped for. Moon is also aspecting Saturn which is right smack on the cusp of the 2nd and 3rd house. I'm one of those people that never thinks Saturn is going to be helpful even if it's dignified and the aspect is a sextile. She called me earlier and got some new information work wise. Bit of a shock from the client she works with in regard to their next contract term. She asked me if she could create a new chart based on this information. I wouldn't think that would change the outcome on this one though. Anyway, here's the chart info. Jan. 11, 2012 8:39 pm Wayne NJ Quote Sat Jan 14, 2012 2:42 am
9 by Seiko Her raise, L11, i.e. the Moon, is in the 12th in opposition with her money, L2, Venus. Venus cadent in the 6th. So there's little hope. Nevertheless, Saturn exalted in the 3rd collects light from both the Moon and Venus, so an older (Saturn) relative or acquaintance (the 3rd House), or someone she has a good communication with (still the 3rd), possibly could lend a helping hand in this matter. Since Saturn is exalted, that person could be in a higher position in her company. Maybe one of her bosses. That is, if there is such a person. So basically I'm saying she should suck up to someone who calls the shots. But even if she does, there will be much resistance and the odds are slim. If that person with influence is not just my imagination, she should (or you should tell her) follow Lilly's rules when to approach such a person to ask for a favor/raise. Since Venus (her money) is entering the next sign and "breaking up" the mutual reception with Saturn, I would say the window is closing fast. Quote Sat Jan 14, 2012 4:14 am
10 by Konrad Venus is cadent, malefics afflicting house 1 and 2, the Moon translates the money to a malefic but is in aversion to both the 1st and the querent as is Venus and the lot of fortune and its lord are in aversion to the Asc. Mercury significator of the querent is entering the Sun's beams. A "no" for me even though Venus is received by a dignified malefic in the house of the quesited, I think the other testimonies overpower that. Quote Sat Jan 14, 2012 10:16 am
11 by handn Here's the chart...... calculated using Regio for the houses as per the forum's standard, but let me know if you used some other system and I'll re-do the graphic if you want. Quote Sat Jan 14, 2012 2:24 pm
12 by handn It's a shame Venus (2nd-ruler) wasn't just a few degrees ahead, because it would've been in its exaltation and had a strong mutual reception with Jupiter (exaltation-ruler of 11th) to go with an applying sextile.... On the other hand...... they both have strong signification over the 7th so maybe that would have off-set the good to be had by the querent....... Oh well, there's no such thing as an ideal chart!
