2 by Andrew Bevan I need to know to difference between a total solar eclipse, annular solar eclipse and partial solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse. I find the question of 'Why' you needed to know this information equally as interesting as your search for knowledge. What is your project? There are several threads on solar eclipses at the Mundane section of Skyscript. However, your question is of such a nature that there are plenty of sites on the internet that provide you with the learning you seek if you surf around. The work of astronomer Fred Espenak is considered very important among both astronomers and astrologers alike. I would recommend you take the time to look around and set yourself into the material. http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse.html http://www.astronor.com Quote Tue May 22, 2012 5:51 am
3 by Mark Hi Albertha, You actually posted the same question on a thread 3 months ago. I had assumed the reply you got from Deb with the link provided had already answered your question. http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6584 Here is some additional information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_eclipse http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_eclipse However, if anything is still unclear please ask. regards Mark As thou conversest with the heavens, so instruct and inform thy minde according to the image of Divinity William Lilly Quote Tue May 22, 2012 10:36 pm
4 by Andrew Bevan The Solar Eclipse in Gemini probably qualifies for asking the same question twice... Lillehammer, Norway, were awarded the Olympic games under an annular eclipse. I seem to recall the same was the indication of Rio getting the games. The Olympic flame arrived Britain on the same day as this years annular eclipse - but there was some problem with the flame that was extinguished. (!?) However, it was explained that this did occasionally happen and that they have a second, protected, back-up flame in reserve, so that the Olympic tourch can be re-light if such an accident should happen. Prometheus, the bearer of fire. The fire captured by the Dragon, only visable during a Solar of Lunar eclipse. The Olympic Games in celebration of the Gods of Olympus, represented by the rings.
